This coalition is a disaster! APC had 11 inaugural governors at this time in 2013, the rank swelled to 16 governors and later dropped to 15 governors when Fayemi lost re election in Ekiti.

I recalled it was called a merger of strange bed fellows then, but this is the REAL collision of strange bed fellows. They are on a path of WAR from day 1, they have no deep pocket governor. Peter Obi has started losing the cutting edge that was deceiving some people.

Definitely , Tinubu is graced specially, that BABA get anointing no be small. The loss of the opposition will be resounding and painful to many.

Again with Buhari and Atiku out of the way, it’s a level playing field in 2031 for a northerner with presidential Ambitions. It’s like Tinubu in the SW, people like Amosun, Fashola, Osinbajo, Fayemi etc knew that so long as Tinubu is in the race to be president, they have no chance. By the same token, all current SW governors know the most they can ever be in future is a VP and even that is extremely unlikely because if Tinubu does 2 terms, the presidency is not coming to the SW for a generation. Permutations and timing to become president don’t come around every time, when your opportunity comes you don’t help your competitor. So no Northern gov is going to help Atiku when he is weak! It’s different if he came into the race strong. You crush your opponent when he is weak!

At the end of my 4th year in medical school . I contested for a position in my medical students’ association (PRO ) while 2 of my classmates also contested against each other for the gen secretary position. So our tenure would run during our 5th year of medical school.

Per tradition or precedence, the gen secretary would usually contest and win the top seat ( Presidency ) in final year as the seat was usually reserved for a final year student for obvious reason. ( There’s seniority in medical school ).

Interestingly, I initially didn’t have any ambition for my final year as I already planned to quit politics and focus squarely on my studies and pass my final exams at once in 600 level .

Something interesting happened few weeks to the election. One of the gen secretary candidates had an issue with one of the departments in school and was almost sure of repeating the 4th year.

At that point I became ambitious and wanted this dude to win his election and become the general secretary because I knew he would not be available to contest to be president since he would be repeating the 4th year and would still be in 4th year while I’m in 500level and that would ultimately make me the highest ranked politician in my class at the end of 500 level .
That way, I would be on a very strong footing to be the association’s president in final year.

Unfortunately, my plan didn’t work . The guy lost the gen sec position woefully.
The dude who won the election went on to be the president in our final year .
I also went back to my original plan of quitting politics at the end of 500 level to focus on my studies in final year.

PS: The eventual winner of the gen sec position was actually closer to me but I still wanted him to lose so I could have an easy ride in final year .
I’m sure he thought I was an ally ( I was indeed an ally initially until I saw an opportunity to feather my own nest ) .
Politics is a game of interest and Tinubu is in a position to make the best deal .
Kwankwanso is actually the most popular politician in the core North and he’s not interested in the coalition.
If he’s lucky and play his card well, he would rule come 2031.
This is the reason why he’s working albeit clandestinely with Tinubu .
He’s not interested in their coalition at all

The Coalition don't need governors.

What they need is the majority of Nigerian Voters on her side and Jagaban will be defeated squarely.

Jagaban had Sanwo Olu in Lagos State but he lost Lagos State.

Jagaban had governors in Kebbi, Kaduna, Yobe, Gombe, Katsina, Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River States and was defeated in those states.

A governor only has one vote and loads of cash to spend anyhow...

What the Nigerian Voter is now doing is to collect the governors money and vote for their preferred candidates...

So the influence of governors in determining the outcome of elections in present day Nigeria is slim.
