Currently trending is a video of a hilarious exchange between a Nigerian man and PalmPay, a popular loan app in Nigeria.

In the video, a customer service representative from the app calls the man to remind him that his loan repayment is overdue by two weeks. But instead of panicking, the man decides to engage her in a comical conversation.

As the lady tries to inform him that the call is being recorded, the man cheekily asks, "Will it be posted on TikTok after the recording?" Unbothered, the customer care agent continues, reminding him that his loan is actually two months overdue and he hasn't even paid the interest. The man quickly responds, "Even my landlord called yesterday to say my rent is two months late. Is this a new TikTok trend?"

The agent replies, "You're not the first person whose landlord has said that, and that’s not my business. My concern is with the money you owe the bank."

After a few more back-and-forths, the agent tells him he agreed to the terms and conditions when taking the loan, and they have the records. The man fires back, "But in your advert, you said if someone borrows ₦15,000, they only have to pay back ₦15,050. Now you're asking me to pay ₦20,000 interest on a ₦15,000 loan. Will you also post that recording online?"

At this point, the customer care agent becomes agitated and threatens that if he doesn't repay the loan, the company will begin its recovery process—which includes freezing his bank account and possibly his phone.

Suddenly, the man goes quiet. The lady, noticing the silence, keeps asking, "Hello? Are you there?"

He then responds calmly, "I dey there na. I don start the freezing. By the way, if una freeze my account, nothing dey inside wey una fit freeze—na empty vacuum."

Furious at his response, the agent snaps, "Excuse me, are you mad?"
To which the man replies, "Nope. And you?"

You just have to watch this video to get the full dose of laughter! It's been trending across social media platforms and cracking everyone up.

I don't know how their ads are being approved for public consumption, they will advertise to take loan of 100k and pay 100,500 back but once you take the loan, they will ask you to pay 160k back and you will be wondering how 100,500 turned to 160k.

Nothing hilarious here. If you are owing a financial institution, try and clear your debt to keep the system running. Else where, such financial institutions provide capital support for small businesses to strive. They need to be encouraged not to be frustrated

The guy think that's funny. Only if he knows that many businesses are packing up because of such attitude, you take goods or money and failed to pay back . Even many are losing their job because of that. People like that caller , obviously, that's her JD , once she did not meet up due to that senseless attitude displayed by that chronic debtor, she will be either sacked or frustrated out of job once she couldn't meet up.

I remembered the one time I used a loan app and borrowed 5000 and a business failed. Meh I exceeded the period by 3 days and they were on me. Calling raining insults and threatening defamation. Omoh i got angry and did my. Research on legal matters. When they called when i sent emails and started recording and giving them word for word. They calmed down. I was angry about the insults and threat to my me.

I turn lawyer for them and surprisingly they stopped and i was able to pay them in time. But since then i just stopped. Deleted the damn app and i don't use it any longer. It's not worth it

Do not take loans from an online loan app if you do not have a source from which to repay the loan
