BascoVanVeli:Please stop the cheap crap you smoked. The so-called Tosin is not qualified to tie Plumptre's cleats. |

Fun fact: The SF 3-0 win over Tunisia was their 62nd WAFCON match, and 46th victory in the competition… |

Senegal oo 😆🤣 |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 5:32pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
I said it from their first game. Senegal and Dr Congo do not know how to quickly cover up spaces in their defence. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by BascoVanVeli(m): 5:43pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
Idiko1:Then why has Tosin been the starting CB under 2 different coaches? Why did she take the position and never give it back? Ashleigh just had a blockbuster performance at the left back position but instead of celebrating that u guys want to come back to this dead ahh agenda about Plumptre being better than Tosin. |

BascoVanVeli:Because only one of the 2 players can function in a dual role. Ashleigh can play a makeshift LB position, but Demehin cannot. That's what informed Randy's decision to move her there and every other coach has followed suit since then. Why is she still playing that Rolex same reason as before, we don't have dependable personal for our full back roles. It's why Alozie as poor as she seldom gets plays ahead of those who traditionally are meant to play that role. We've literally experimented playing several players just to see if someone will fit. From Imuran to Toni to Nicole to Michelle playing LB, none has so far being as effective as Ashleigh even though that isn't her preferred role. I won't even get into the argument of who's better between Blessing and Ashleigh as nothing I say will convince you otherwise so there frankly no point. Just felt i needed to give context to why Blessing plays CB ahead of Ashleigh. It's not because she's better, it's quite literally because she not as flexible to be played in any other position. |

We can easily beat the Zambia team i just watched even with all the men in the squad |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 7:47pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
Samueltemi337:The key to us beating them is implementing a quick-passing game to ruthlessly exploit the massive holes they always leave in their defensive third |

That Abiodun in the midfield is wreckless in her tackles she must be very careful she avoided a red card by the skin of her teeth |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by BascoVanVeli(m): 8:27pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
lovewins:How about giving me the truth and not lies Not one mention of the numerous mistakes made by Ashleigh at that position. That shows u are not debating in good faith. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 8:52pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
BascoVanVeli:You asked why Tosin is CB under 2 coaches instead of Ashleigh and I gave you the factual reason why that is. I didn't get into the "who is better" debate with you cause it quite frankly won't go anywhere so no point in trying. So I don't know where you think I lied here. Are you disagreeing with me on the reason I gave? Are you saying the reason why Tosin plays ahead of Ashleigh as CB is because of the "numerous mistakes" she made in that role? |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:39pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
Sorry, but your statement is factually incorrect. Tosin Demehin CAN and HAS played as RB, RCB and LCB . Ashleigh cannot play on both sides of the defense and has only played as either a LB or LCB . lovewins: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 11:44pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
Are you saying this based on one match played or? I'll make a case for 18 and 13 been Ayinde and Deborah respectively . Ayinde though old, brings stability and composure in midfield that no one does . Deborah is an engine room who's still learning and we've seen her perform well in some games Demehin, been 14, just might be the next Ohale if she focuses more. Saying they've got no business in the team is a shocker . Idiko1: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 3:25am On Jul 10, 2025 |
AkinDS:Notice how you are arguing a point I didn't make? I said only one of the 2 can function in a dual role. Have the coaches tried to play Tosin as a full back to see if she can fit the role? Yes. Just the same way they tried Toni as as full back, Christy as CB, Ajibade as Cm and even Ashleigh as DM. The argument isn't about if who has played a particularly position or who hasn't. You asked why Tosin has been starting CB under 2 coaches and I factually gave the correct answer. She can't function anywhere else. She's a net negative go the team in any other role outside of the CB and so can't function. Ashleigh however can effectively play both, it's why coaches will rather move her. If we had better fullbacks in the team there's no way Tosin is starting ahead of Ashleigh. Not a chance. |

Idiko1 saying what he did is over the bar but Deborah Abiodun needs to be cautioned by the coaches on her ill timing when going in for the tackles. She could have easily bagged a red in the Tunisia game. While her industry in midfield is well noted, her tackling is rash and ill timed. I would not want her costing us a game by picking up a red and leaving us a woman short abeg. She should kindly watch it. Aside that, she is an important part of the team. Jojodjo: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 10:42am On Jul 10, 2025 |
TheSuperNerd:I thought the initial idea was to have her understudy Ayinde and be a substitute for Ayinde who was always injury prone. Ayinde and Ucheibe should always start together if they are fit. |

Been a while since the Lieke Martens era where they would have wiped the floor with England. Current dutch side got nothing on the English girls. BascoVanVeli: |

BascoVanVeli:The best defensive defender in the team is Osinachi Ohale She’s the rock that solidifies our defense She is irreplaceable Ashleigh is the best offensive defender we have, she gives great killer passes into the final 3rd. Obviously Ashleigh Plumptre is the most technical defender we have even though I will not trust her in centre back positions Some African or Spanish girls will easily body check & outpace her Falcons don’t have a solid replacement for Ohale Osinachi at this point in time Tosin Demehin easily replaced Onome Ebi |

If Nigeria ever face Morocco, Ayinde should woman mark Chebbak out of the game She’s the Moroccan engine, they’re done if you switch her off ![]() Chebbak already has 4 goals Roaming the pitch with so much freedom |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by BascoVanVeli(m): 5:23pm On Jul 10, 2025 |
lovewins:Ashleigh was replaced because she wasn't good enough. Any reason that doesn't start like that is absolutely dishonest. At the last WAFCON Ashleigh started as a CB against South Africa and made a mistake that led to their 1st goal. She was moved to LB and had a fantastic rest of a tournament but trust Waldrum to try her there again at CB. He did it against Mexico and she was at fault for their goal. If I'm not mistaking, that was the last time she played as a CB for Nigeria. Ashleigh is an excellent player but let's be honest here. |

Last time vs Bostwana, Ucheibe scored from a CK after her teammates opened up space for her in Saliba-Arsenal style. Im expecting another Rinsola+Oshoala connect for a goal as Zee is good in such moments. I however prefer that Ayinde and Deborah start or Ayinde-Ucheibe. This is a game that needs Toni imo. Front 3-Rinsola+Oshoala/Ihezuo+Ajibade |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 6:23pm On Jul 10, 2025 |
BascoVanVeli:Now you're just being dishonest. Ashleigh didn't start as a CB in the game against South Africa. She played as LB cause we had Onome and Ohale as CB as seen in the attached. As per the goal conceded, there are several persons to blame Ashleigh being one of them. SA switched the ball to the right (where Ashleigh was) and it bounced then she got beaten by her man. Onome and Ohale still had the chance to prevent a goal but they also got beaten. How was Ashleigh playing CB when she literally got beaten as LB? Against Mexico, Ashleigh didn't start out as CB but alternated between being a LWB/DM. If I remember correctly that was the game Randy experimented playing Ashleigh as a defensive midfielder. Ohale and Tosin were the CBs for that game and Ashleigh joined them as a LWB when we switched to a 3-4-3 formation. As per the goal, we simply overcompensated our defence to the right leaving space for a free man to take that strike. Ashleigh was standing by Chiamaka guarding the post. Not sure if that particularly goalscorer was her man but there's enough blame to go around even if that was the case. See attached images for reference
