Half of those “shots” were missed crosses. All the same still bad.
Wasteful falcons
How are they planning to face in form Zambia

They should practice shooting and crossing more.

Count Okeke out, she’s injured and recently underwent foot surgery that’s why she’s not there.. If not we won’t have seen either of Shukurat or Usani…
At least by what she can offer based on previous showings. I hope Imuran steps up though. Before competition makes he slip down

Shooting was the same problem with u17 and u20 side at their world cup where they had over 30 shots and couldn't score. The Shakirat Moshood and Taiwo Afolabi set. It started from group stage and the coach did nothing to address it till we were edged out out the competition. Maybe it's time to make it a top prerequisite going forward.

I quite frankly don't understand it because it's Oshoala. Anybody else I would have excused it but Asisat is a consummate professional and a leader in the team and have experienced situations like this throughout her career (she's currently experiencing same thing in Bay FC) so should have handled this better.

I also think the coach didn't do a good job explaining her role in the team. It's something I believe Randy did early at the World cup. Magudu needs to do the same thing. Oshoala still has a few more years in the team but primarily for her leadership role as she has the utmost respect of her teammates. Explain her role to her and get her buy-in
From what u said she clearly deserves the benefit of the doubt. I would be more concerned if she had a track record of this behaviour.
She probably thought the national team would treat her differently from her club.

Basco, i will be frustrated to if I were in her shoe but as one of the leaders of the team that was a terrible thing to do. Moreso, she was not the only one who got substituted. She should lead by example.
Being a leader doesn't stop making u human. Anybody can get frustrated.

Why Ordega apply pancake and mascara come field?
She said she wanted to show girls that they can be feminine and still play football.

Super Falcons player Rinsola Babajide has joined Italian giant Roma FC. The team announced the signing earlier today.

I know but the makeup becomes hideous and makes her look like a character from a horror movie when she sweats with mascara and other face applications streaking down her face.

It's not a pretty sight at all and I know say na fine gal she be.

Am. Seriously concerned about the level of indiscipline in the super Falcons camp

Are there no camp rules?
Are there no does and don't

Because the rate at which they are on social media is alarming
Before and almost every game dancing and making videos

No wonder there performance on the field is so disjointed.
Imagine 23 shot on goal
And only 2 on target against Algeria

A match they should win convincingly
Even against Botswana they were barely able scramble in the last minute goal. And yet we're on social media dancing they have qualified....

Yeah. Ordega and Oshoala both being the oldest attackers in the team who have played together since their U20 days (2012) as attackers would also definitely understand each other better as well.

I agree... Anybody can get frustrated. Everybody is human but not letting all these get to you is a distinct leadership characteristic.

Ajibade vs Onyi in midfield is a big debate.
Okoronkwo ahead of Oshoala; Rinsola and Ihezuo on the wing please.

I believe the praise & worship ritual is just to ease nerves
It’s just like warrior chants before war
Even though it’s a little too much sometimes & other African countries have copied Nigeria by doing that
Zambia will be our toughest test to me in this competition
Our team is disjointed, can’t string passes like the South Africans & Moroccans
I hope we find a way to win
Zambia beat us in the last encounter
This is a game of tiny margins
My head tells me we will win the game on penalties

The Quarter Final stage is now set

Nigeria v Zambia
Morocco v Mali
Algeria v Ghana
South Africa v Senegal

May God help our Super Falcons to scale through as they battle the 'men' in Zambian team

Am not talking about praise and worship....
And talking about too many social media presence when they are supposed to focus more on the assignment

focused player should put her mind on the assignment
Not been distracted by transfer
And if.... Her manager should handle it
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Hardrive(m): 10:46pm On Jul 14, 2025
If we are going to win against Zambia, we would need to play a counter attacking game. If we do that we win and avoid what happened against Botswana and morroco.
If the coach continues playing the typical Nigerian football, then nothing for us. This way the Zambians would be forced to come out and play thereby exposing their terrible goalkeeper.

You're talking gibberish and that's putting it lightly. Planned to ignore your initial comments since your quoted me I might as well respond.

First, players have 24 hours in a day, part of which they spend a few hours training. Where their 100% focus is needed is when they are training or when they are watching films during their strategy sessions. That's maximum 8 hours of their day (nobody trains for 8 hours by the way). This leaves them with another 16 hours to do whatever with.

If they decide to spend some of that time on social media, how is that a problem? Don't you personally have a job you do? Aren't you on nairaland spending some of your time, and I assume also on other social media platforms? Does that suggest to anyone your aren't focused or aren't serious with your job? Yes the Super Falcons have issues that needs to be worked on, it however doesn't give very anyone the right to police their life or how they choose to live their life during their free time particularly if they aren't breaking camp rule.

Same applies to your comments here. How is Rinsola posting about a transfer to her new club indicative of loosing focus? Aren't you aware this is common in football?

Athletes need to relax when they are up against a major challenge. Too much stress and inability to relax can affect their performance. That's why athletes often listen to music before a major match or do other things to reduce pressure, tension and stress and clear their heads.

The social media videos won't prevent them from training or preparing for the match.

So them dancing before every game is the reason why the couldn’t score? See ehn, one day you people will free your selves from the shackles of false cause. Cus A has no bearing on B whatsoever.

Nigerian teams, whether male or female before every match would sing and dance from the bus to the locker rooms to keep up the good vibes and camaraderie but suddenly because they couldn’t score against Algeria, it’s now a bad thing and it’s indiscipline. What they should be working on is converting chances, not the timing of their social media posts.
