Hyundai Elantra 2012 with a knock engine Had a customer that came for alternator issue, after fixing the alternator noticed a ticking sound from the engine and not getting full power from the engine. I started troubleshooting by running a full tune up service and few ideas of Likely issue. The customer took it off my hand. Few days later I got a call from her that I need to check up on her car, getting there the car was in a mechanic workshop with a knocked engine. Symptoms Ticking sound/Tappet noise Bad fuel economy Engine vibration It stalls and sputters Difficulty in accelerating from stop Diagnosis At initial diagnosis I told her it was a piston slap that was common with those brands and year and solution is engine swap or we rebuild. The customer took it to another mechanic where they worked their magic and got a knock engine. Solution Replacing the engine |

Code C2173 Toyota This issue indicates a serious signal differences between vehicle speed sensors and engine speed. Which in turn affects the vehicle performance. This alone can cause issues ranging from mimicking gear failure to actual failure. Symptoms Inaccurate speedometer readings or not working at all. Transmission shifting erratically ABS system warning light illuminated Delayed transmission shifting which in turn affects your car speed and eventually failure. Solution Run an extensive diagnostic procedure to identify the real cause or causes Replace sensors and actuators and assemblage if need be. Check the wirings In few cases reprogram the modules |

Kia Rio 2014 (K900) Gas pedal not responding. A car owner with continuous issue of his car not responding to throttle pedal with several mechanic inputs yet no solution in sight called to have me check up his car. After detailed scan the codes I got were – P0562 - System Voltage low P121-TPS 1 signal circuit range/performance P0222-TPS 2 Signal circuit low input P0122-TPS 1 Signal circuit Low input P0643- Sensor reference voltage ‘A’ high P0223- TPS 2 signal circuit high Input P0123- TPS 1 Signal Circuit high input P0106- MAP/BP circuit range/performance Symptoms Car not responding to pedal touch/ not revving or acceleration Check engine light Misfiring Solution Check the wiring Remove the manifold and check for oil which contaminate the MAP sensor Replace the MAP sensor Replace the throttle body Relearning the throttle body Note: TPS – Throttle Position Sensor MAP – Manifold Absolute Pressure BP – Barometer Pressure Also the Intake Air Temperature shouldn’t be higher 0.3

Hyundai Santa Fe 2014 coolant leaking into the combustion chamber Was chatted about an issue with a persistent engine misfire, the car owner with his mechanics had thrown different parts at it and still no solution in sight. After checking out the error code sent to me I decided to have a comprehensive diagnosis; don’t forget diagnosis is not limited to just scanning. Here are the steps taken ~ Running a scan ~ Physical inspection of engine parts visible ~ Checking the TSB - Technical Service Bulletin This is what I came up with; - Multiple cylinder misfire - Cylinder 1 & 3 comes with bad spark plugs Did compression test on the cylinder head and came with a partial result, that was when I had to remove the intake manifold and discover traces of coolant. Immediately told the car owner to prepare to buy another engine. |

Hyundai Sonata 2011 with a hooked Engine Hyundai Sonata 2011 was towed to the workshop with a blocked engine. Further information was that he drove to petrol station for fill up and driving out the car sputter and went off. Trying to crank did not give any signal except the dashboard lights. Diagnosis Engine hooked Solution Replace the engine or preferably rebuild the engine which was the option the owner went for. Steps taken Replacing the engine bloc Replacing the crankshaft and metals Replacing the connecting rods and pistons Replacing the valve seals Note: The reason for replacing the engine bloc was due to crack last on the bloc due to Hyundai factory defects which you will see in the pictures below

Hyundai Santa Fe 2023 Hybrid System Error Hyundai Santa Fe 2023 comes with a technical issue, that affects the hybrid system. The MIL – Multifunction Indicator Light comes up and the car decelerates which makes it dangerous. dessz:This might be long but I would have love to do it better on WhatsApp with a voice note. 2014-2016 CLA 250 The 2015 & 2016 are better than the 2014 with serious engine stalling issues and the moment you start seeing “Inoperative see operator’s manual” just know it’s from one issue to another except you have a solid Benz technician. Also coolant mixing with engine oil is also common which tends to damage the transmission due to over heating. All these are the beginning of your regular diagnostic wahala. But if you are ready to spend excessively on maintenance you are good to go. 2014 - 2016 Toyota Avalon This is a good car except few wiring issues which are relatively cheap to fix. No engine are transmission failure except due to poor maintenance and fabricated oils and fake parts. Also the rear interior tend to be the only issue. Apart from been an executive car it’s also needs an executive periodic maintenance. Follow religiously Toyota Camry 2014 This is a terrible choice of the Toyota brand First excessive engine oil consumption causes the genesis of all problems for 2014 Camry VSV - Vacuum Switching Valve Assembly just decide whenever and however to stop working which can while on speed and it causes the car to decelerate and won’t go above 20 - 40. Transmission do have torque converter issue according to NHTSA Toyota replace them till 150k miles. But in a situation it wasn’t replace before been imported. You are in for a long thing. Software issues - Most Nigerian drivers don’t know just as much their phone gets periodic updates same with cars softwares. |

Greetings Blackbishop. Please how do I go about fixing this? 2003 honda pilot: the alternator has 2 bolts connected to it. The down one (size 14), which goes into the engine block has damaged, after constant breaking of bolt and drilling the bolts out. The last one happened yesterday and now, the part to tight it in on the engine is gone. They suggest I change the engine. Gambling to get only the engine block was not advised according to them. What do you think? |

Gas Pump Filler Shutting off while refueling – EVAP issues There are couple of issue that could cause a gas filler to shout off but I’ll be majoring on the EVAP issues. Codes Likely codes that most car owners ignores; P0441 – Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow P0442 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Small Leak) P0443 – Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit P0455 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Large Leak) P0456 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak) Had a couple of cars with this same issue, from Grand Cherokee Jeep 2014 to 2017, Mercedes C230, Kia Rio 2019. Just the few I have worked on. Causes * EVAP System – which serves as vapor extractor from your fuel tank * Roll Over Check Valve – This is a stopper on the fuel tank neck to prevent fuel spilling out in the event of an accident that leads to rolling over of the vehicle. * Topping off your gas tank to brim over time causes it * Faulty fuel cap * Gas station Noozle too. Solution * Consult an auto technician * Visually inspect the gas tank filler neck, in some car brands design the filler neck to be bent * Run a diagnostic test on the EVAP system * Check and replace the gas tank cap 1 Like 1 Share
