I have driven both cars, based on my experience I would love to drive car with manual transmission.

However, traffic, ah traffic kills the legs so automatic has to be the go to option.

But if I was traveling ehen that is when the manual car is very very sweet and takes over. Very rich engine notes.

If you can drive manual, you have a big advantage. But if you learnt with automatic, you are limited. But the truth is that someone who drives automatic hate the fact that they can't drive manual cars, hence their hatered towards manual cars steps in. You start hearing words like suffer man car, old school etc.

I learnt with an automatic so it’s easier for me with automatic

I drive both, I prefer automatic. Any non-commercial driver who tells you he/she prefers manual and goes on to give that nonsense reason of "being in control" or "it is the main driving" ___is just lying and trying to feel important. 👍

I own both Manual and Auto. But I'd say am more at home with Manual.
Yes" ... Power and control is what Manual gives you that Auto doesn't.
You "drive" Manual cars, you "move" Auto cars.
You ain't a driver if you learnt with the Auto (cos you can't drive a manual)...go back and learn to drive.
There are lots of advantages with the Manual.
You are on speed and brake fails, Manual is better in managing the situation.
Gear problems is another advantage of Manual to Autos.
In case of trouble with car on the road (not starting), easier to resolve with Manual than Auto.
Aside the ease of "moving" the car without have to change gears, Autos does not have any advantage over manual.
For those that can change gears and drive with eyes closed, why would one throw away the advantages of Manual for an Auto?

Stop the cap abeg. I understand you love manual cars but please don't over generalise.

Formula 1 cars are not manual and they utilise paddle shifters which has been adopted by other car manufacturers.

I keep hearing this being “in control of the car” bollocks with manual enthusiasts.

An automatic car these days have safety features such as collision sensors, lane departure and automatic braking. They are also faster and fuel efficient. They are becoming more intelligent.

Even law enforcement are adopting automatic vehicles for emergency response driving.


This argument of manual vs Auto is so childish and keeps coming up on Nairaland. Drive whatever you want and leave others who have a different preference or taste.

Driving is about safety, competence, comfort and reliability. Not just “ to dey march am”

I learnt to drive in 2015 and passed my test in a manual. All my cars since then have been automatic. I will not drive an auto and that’s my preference. Doesn't mean you are better than any auto driver.

You sound so immature and inexperienced. Datsun C20 (1983 to 1992), Peugeot 504 (1990 to 2001) another Datsun car that I can't remember the name replaced the C20 when it was sold. Do you know any of those vehicles?. Those were dad's vehicles that I drove in the 90s. Come on!
