I don't remember what caused the fight.
Maybe it was something small.
Maybe it was the weight of everything we didn’t say.

But I remember her walking away.
No shouting.
No drama.
Just silence — and a kind of finality that made Lagos traffic feel louder than usual.

She didn’t look back.

And in that moment, I realized…

She wasn’t just leaving me.
She was walking away from late-night gist.
From jollof rice that always had too much pepper.
From shared earphones, broken dreams, and plans we made without knowing life had other ideas.

But sometimes I wonder if she still remembers:

The time we danced in the rain because Uber cancelled on us

The time we got lost in Yaba and laughed our way into a random buka

The time we made promises we had no business making — but meant every word

💔 I don’t miss the relationship.
I miss who I was when I was with her.
I miss the soft version of me that didn’t know what heartbreak tastes like.

Funny how people leave,
and you become someone else in their absence.

Some end with growth.

I am a poet myself, this same thing happened to me not quite long.

She left like what we've built meant nothing to her.
She left when I had already let my guard down.
She left to leave me with only memories.

When things were rosy I was seeing future that has our pictures
When the going was good I was creating what would endure.

All I've got now are unfulfilled promises we made together
All left with me now are lies of love she sold to me

I don't want to write this but my heart grieves.
My heart bleeds so much that it may never get healed.

💔 I don’t miss the relationship.
I miss who I was when I was with her.

Why lie to yourself?
You do not miss the relationship, but you miss who you were when you were with her.
You forget you were who you were because of the relationship she was in with you.
Without her, there would have been no relationship. And there won't have been the who you were that you now miss.
