Upfront combo

LW-Rinsola
CF-Ihezuo
RW-Ordega(sub Esther in for her or shift Ajibade to RW and let Ordega go off for Echegini, then Esther for Rinsola in that case)

Normally, if not for that finger injury that seem like an excuse for Chioma, I'd like to see her come on.

With a 4123 approach
Where Toni/Echegini and Ajibade play that 2. With one of Ucheibe/Ayinde behind them(obviously Ayinde)

I saw the Zambia coach statement about Unity. It was hilarious but it made one think our squad are having some division. Lol
The emboldened is not an excuse. It's real.

I saw a footage of their training session and Chioma's right hand was wrapped from the wrist down to the fingers.

Madugu said she trains with the team but the players know to play around her with caution because of the injury but in match situations opponents may target that particular body part to take her out of the game which is true so it makes sense not to risk her.

New comer, wellcome.
14 Dimenhin and 18 Ayinde are sure starters.
My predicted lineup:

---++±------++Okoronkwo
--Babajide-----Echegini-----Ajibade
------------Ayinde---+Ucheibe
Plumptre--Dimehin---Ohale--Alozie
--------------+++Nnadozie

Ihezuo and/or Payne might play instead. Depends on Coach's analysis .
Almost like i predicted but with

Ihezuo for Ucheibe
Ijamulusi for Babajide

So effectively

-------------++Okoronkwo
--Ihezuo----Echegini----Ijamulusi--Ajibade
--------------------Ayinde--
Plumptre--Dimehin---Ohale--Alozie
--------------+++Nnadozie

We will likely also be wearing our new white jersey for the first time competitively.

I would have preferred Ayinde Ucheibe combo with Ijamilusi on the bench.

Coach Madugu is either going to be the biggest gambler or the biggest fool after this game. As my custom his I won't criticise, but kinda puzzling for him to set up the team with players who haven't played together as a unit before.

Do you get, Is he being stubborn or want to prove that he knows better? Rasheedat in midfield at this stage when she hasn’t performed well for the team there?

How do you bench Christy Ucheibe in this kind of physical game??

Or Madugu just want to ruine the team totally??

It is literally Folashade plays in the midfield and Rash moves forward. But we'll see how it plays out when the game starts. It's a big gamble for Folashade to get her first start in a very important game. Hoping the pressure doesn't get to her.

In all we either reap of Madugu's boldness or become victims of his foolishness. Praying the later won't be the case.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 4:36pm On Jul 18, 2025
It's also noteworthy that Madugu isn't playing defensive today, contrary to how he executed the group stages. The selection shows he's going on the offensive. We are either going to see a masterclass or a disasterclass.

Not sure what's sponsoring this boldness but I'm seated.

Are you okay? You want to play two DMs so you will later complain that we're not scoring goals.

The lineup is perfect. It's a 4-3-3. The Zambians will most likely defend most of the time so we need good attacking-minded midfielders to open them up with splitting passes and slalom runs.

Echegini fits this role perfectly. Ajibade is in the CM too. One DM is enough. Ajibade can help win balls too in the midfield if necessary.

I hope Ijamilusi proves her mettle though I would have preferred Babajide playing as an inverted left winger.

I haven't seen much

Exactly. Madugu is trying to fix the one thing his team has been criticized for: goalscoring. One thing is sure: goals go dey this game.

Exactly. Lol

Whether for or against us goals dey this game.

The Zambians aren't known to typically defend and aren't even good defensively if they tried so should be an open game.

You spoke my mind. Except for Rinsola who is not starting, this line up is okay with me. Hopefully Ijamilusi drops a masterclass today and proves her mettle.

Also hope Madugu's in-game management will be stellar cos thats what will either make or mar the team.

I'm optimistic of a victory.

What happens to playing Ajibade on the flank with Christy Ucheibe going box-2-box which she normally does well…
