It does not. And its compulsory that submit your 6-months banks statement alongside your sponsor's 6-months banks statement too. Below, all the documentations you need for a study visa can be found here, go through them in details: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-study-in-ireland/what-are-my-study-visa-options/how-to-apply-for-long-term-study-visa/ olagabriel26: |

Hi all Irish visa applicants, My appointment for a visitor visa is next week. Please, how many copies should accompany the original document? Must all copies be in colour? Thank you |
| Re: Ireland Study Visa thread,General Life Experience of Nigerians Living in Ireland by tunbosun9: 4:02pm On Jul 19, 2025 |
ekpotek:Make sure you have all the copies of the documents you plan to submit. Photocopy them in coloured format and separate them properly to avoid any confusion. Don’t photocopy the bank statement—they will collect all the documents, so be careful not to submit your original by mistake, as they won’t be returning it. It’s better to do all your photocopying at home to avoid unnecessary expenses. |

tunbosun9:Thank you. So I do not need to submit any original documents apart from my bank statements. |

Hello, I am applying for study visa, and I am planning on staying with a family friend, what document does he need to provide or just address will suffice. Also I keep seeing 'explaining big lump sums in the account' for proof of fund, how will that be done, like will I have to write an accompanying letter too and date those transactions? For the gap year part, I guess NYSC certificate should do part of the job and also my place of work doesnt have an official employment letter, what else can be used in that case ( I have LIRS monthly tax remission emails tho). And for the VFS, how many photocopy of each documents is suggested and also should I do the photocopies and passport photographs there? Thanks |

Hi everyone, I am searching for accomodation in Dublin. Has anyone gotten an accommodation that wants to share, please inform me? |
| Re: Ireland Study Visa thread,General Life Experience of Nigerians Living in Ireland by tunbosun9: 7:36pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
Mayordanny:Staying with a family friend – Just providing their address may not be enough. It’s best if your friend writes a short accommodation letter stating you’ll be staying with them, along with a copy of their ID and maybe a utility bill showing their address. 2. Big lump sums in account – Yes, you’ll need to explain any large deposits in a letter of explanation. Mention the date, amount, source (e.g., gift, savings transfer, business income), and why it’s in your account. Just keep it clear and honest. 3. Gap year / Employment without letter – Your NYSC certificate definitely helps. Since there’s no official employment letter, your LIRS monthly tax remittance emails are strong supporting evidence. You can also add a short personal statement explaining your work history and role at the place. 4. VFS submission – One photocopy of each document is usually enough, but it's safer to carry 2 sets just in case. For passport photos and photocopies, it’s cheaper and faster if you do them beforehand. VFS can do them too, but they may charge more. |

Hello nairalanders. I submitted my Irish student visa application two months ago, and I just got my passport back on Monday. Unfortunately, my visa was refused, but they’ve given me the option to appeal. The problem is, the reasons they listed in the refusal letter aren’t very clear to me. I’m not exactly sure what they mean or how to respond to them properly. Could you please help me understand each reason and how I should address them in my appeal? I’ve attached the refusal letter below.

Sorry for the disappointing news. I am no expert but is the sponsor related to you by blood. If yes, put pics of you with them when you were young and of you guys together now. Then explain who the person is to you and if the person has sponsored your education in the past. If not related by blood same picture thing applies and you may need to get affidavit that you both sign and maybe explain in the sponsorship letter why that person is sponsoring you and who they are to you. That’s my take on that aspect. I don’t know much about the other finances part but you need to explain every lump sum (credit) in the past six months with documentary evidence for them. If the person is into business, get receipt and invoices of their transactions. So I think anything above 100k should be explained[/quote] Olayinkaraheem: |

JulietSharma:Explaining anything above N100k is like explaining to a V.O why 70dollar/euro/pounds for example came into my account. A normal account should naturally have inflow and outflow i.e, if not a business account, should have regular monthly debit and credit and including income from salaries. The visa officer can easily read that from the references on the bank statement. Lump sum is what should be particularly explained. For example, if you don’t earn 1mill as salary, and the transactions you do in you account don’t even amount to hundreds of thousand, all of a sudden a whooping sum of 4mill bounces in your account, you have to explain and provide documentary evidence to that effect. |

Hello House, has anyone tried to appeal? How long did it take? I just got a visa rejection and I am considering appealing. However, weary about timelines and programme commencement on the 1st of September. |

I have attached the refusal letter here. Please note the following supporting documents previously provided that I believe addresses the visa officer’s concerns . -a cover letter explaining education gap, CV and my current employer contract. -admission letter from the school indicating programme duration , cover letter reinforcing same and proof of full fees payment -24,870 Euros - sponsors cover letter, payslips, proof we are siblings, employment contract and proof of funds N26m. Can anyone advise on additional supporting documents to be included during the appeal? Thank you

When did you apply? We can’t really advise if we don’t know the reason for the gaps? And what proof did you attach to explain the gaps? Do you mind sharing so we can advise on what to attach. I don’t think finances is the issue to be honest. Did you write the application letter and specify that you will observe the conditions of the visa? Titiait: |

I think for the education and employment gaps you need to attach your testimonials from all schools you went to starting from primary, then attach your employment letters from all your previous and current places of work and then add your ID card photocopy from your current. Titiait: |

JulietSharma:Thank you so much for taking time to respond. I will take not for when I reapply for my visa. I will defer admission. There are a lot uncertainties around timelines for appeal decisions which might come after school resumes. |
