Mobil 1 Vs Mobil 2000, Which Is Better? by izaac23(op): 8:22am On Jul 21, 2025
Greetings my people.
I have been using mobil 1, 5w-30 (the cheaper one sold at 27k) on my Toyota corolla, but recently when a mechanic opened my engine, I noticed that debris were forming.

I am skeptical of continued usage. Someone recommended mobil 2000 5w-30 for me as a substitute.

What do you guys think? Is it better than this generic mobil 1, or can you recommend a better one with minimum market fakes for me?

Thank you as I will be expecting your expert recommendations. God bless

Those mobil1 oil that you buy for anything below 68k per gallon are fake!

Our brothers will sell them to you with straight faces telling you that they are okay, no, they fill those kegs with any shit they could lay their hands on then boom your engine get fried.

If you are using any car that requires been serviced with fully synthetic oil, just go to get your authentic oil from reputable Mobil or Total outlets. They may be expensive though but getting another engine or regular visits to Kazeem shop will be far more expensive.

You're better off using the semi synthetic made my mobil, that generic nonsense you buy could be anything, definitely not a good lubricant for your engine. If you can't afford the synthetic, go for the semi synthetic and buy it at any Mobil gas station, not from any store on the streets.

you are netter of with the original mobil 2000.

even mobil 1000 will not cause a sludge if you are following the recomendations.

the oil you have been buying is fake. its not from the mobil company.

how miles do you use the mobil 1?

mind you i do use the mobil 2000 for 5-6months with less than 4500 miles. with no sludge ot any issue.

For my new Rav 4, after much research and extensions questions that I asked from people and on the net, I settled for 5W-40 fully synthetic oil and I bought it from mobil filling station myself

Though I got it for #32,900
Its cheaper for me to buy expensive oil than to buy another Engine of about 2ml

Same oil I use on my car but I don't let it get to 4500 miles before changing, usually change at 3000 miles.

I use to change it before 3 months or 3000 miles. But to be frank. Each time they bring out the oil the oil will still be good and has viscosity. So I decided to push it up 5-6 month. Even when I changed the oil people will not believe I use to for 5 months.

I usually buy allied oil treatment and mix with the mobil 2000. With that it can serve for 6 months. But I use the system 100% oil life or 5-6 months.

After how many miles do you change your oil?
After how many months?
Is your fan running direct?
Is your thermostat still there?

It's better you buy the original one, it's once a year than buying the 25k own every 3 months and risk your engine

Will this still apply if he covers 20k miles a year?

Not 20k mileage but 10k, but don't always wait to hit the 10k mileage, some change at 8k while some at 5k

Re: Mobil 1 Vs Mobil 2000, Which Is Better? by minista94(m): 7:45pm On Jul 24, 2025
No!! Just work with the mileage, even if you hit it in a month, you change your oil

If you still didn't hit it in a year, still change it

Some don't look at mileage, some change in 6 months while some change when they hit the mileage even before the stipulated time, it all depends on the individual

Not all engines were designed to cover 10k miles before oil change regardless of oil used.
Even the famed mobil 1 will sludge up those engines.

There are engines with very small oil capacities. These engines should not be run for longer than the manufacturer desired them to be run before changing oil regardless of the oil used.

Owners who tried otherwise had their fingers burnt.

Stick to oem recommendation. Its not all engines require synthetic oil. Its not all engines that can tolerate extended OCI.

Hint, most of those Mercedes, BMW and some lexus vehicles that recommend long OCI have very large sumps (they take up to 8 to 10 litres of oil). That's twice what the regular car takes. Can you see the maths in how the long OCI came about?
Engines have been known to sludge even when run on synthetic oil.

Stick to OEM recommendation.

Okay though not full synthetic oil, but how much is the oil?

Secondly, what's your car mileage?

If your car is above 75k mileage, kindly use below type of oil

Sure!
