yinkeys:It wasn't a bad tackle. It was an unfortunate accident.
Abiodun went for the ball, won the ball but the follow through injured the player. Where is the red card in this? Someone even said there was no intent to play the ball when she clearly won the ball there. Just sheepish behaviour |

Remember we hosted the tournament 3 times from 1998 to 2006. In fact it was bouncing back and forth between Nigeria and South Africa (Nigeria hosted thrice and South Africa hosted twice). It depends on the countries that are willing to spend the money to host it and who also have the facilities and conditions to host. |

naptu2:Nigeria can afford to host it We have atleast five good stadiums in this country Abuja Uyo Ibadan Lagos Asaba or benin Most of this stadiums need just work on their grass which can absolutely be done in a year. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2: 12:23pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
Kennedy97:Just check out what will happen today if Nigeria announces that it wants to host the tournament. "You want to waste money on tournament when you cannot subsidise petrol"? "They only want to host it because of the money they'll steal". "People are suffering yet government wants to spend money on Nations Cup". |

naptu2:The government has never cared about the out rage and it is now they want to start caring? |

Oh, a troll. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 12:29pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
Kennedy97:No we don't have good stadiums. The only stadium up to FIFA standard is Uyo. Why do you think every of our continental football takes place in Uyo. Eyimba and Rivers United had to execute their CAF competition in Uyo because their stadiums didn't qualify. None of the listed stadiums are up to standard. And no, we don't have the money to upgrade. Worthy of note also is that stadiums isn't the only consideration that is considered when hosting bids are received. Social amenities, infrastructure, security, logistical convenience amongst many others are things that they look at and Nigeria just doesn't meet up. Ogun state just recently hosted a continental Athletic event, and athletes from Tunisia sadly got into a road accident. Guess what, the hospital facilities in Ogun state (which isn't surprising to any of us) wasn't at par to handle the cases, they just got them stable and had to move them to Lagos where they'll very likely not use public hospitals but very expensive ones in the island. Imagine if it was something more serious, that's how we would have had fatalities of Tunisian athletes in Nigeria for inadequacy of care. I don't even want to talk about security, but I believe you get the point. |

GeneralDae:Bias is the foundation for patriotism so what do you expect from South African pundits? Also, the hatred borne out of Nigeria's dominance of the WAFCON has coloured opinions against us from other Africans. Again, shit happens and it was an unfortunate incident. Debby lunged to hit the ball and her momentum propelled her to collide with Salgado who fell to the ground and her leg gave way. I wish Gabriela Salgado a quick recovery but I'm not taking it from the pundits who attributed SA's loss to her injury saying it affected their players psychologically and changed the momentum of the game. I'm still marinating on the euphoria of the outcome, and I refuse to let anyone discredit our victory. |

lovewins:Nigeria will host the Under 17 WAFU B qualifiers in September at Ogun and Lagos according to NFF President. With this sad condition of Ogun state, I just wonder how injury cases will be treated. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 1:09pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
solonnachi:Wafu competition are not Continental competitions. They are not guided by same standard and CAF doesn't even give regard to it. WAFU competitions the last few years have held in Ghana in a stadium that could rival a potato farm, but CAF doesn't give a hoot. It's also easier to handle as these games tend to hold in just one, max two stadiums. |

lovewins:I get your point on on every other factor and those are very valid reasons why we may not win a bid for a major tourney But the stadia i don’t think fifa requirements are things we can’t work on in a year. |

| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 3:04pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
yinkeys:3 States can host it without this insecurity affecting it. Lagos can host 2 groups. Ibadan, Benin, Ogun State can host 3rd group. Our top crux is road safety most of the time like what happened to the Moroccans athletes that the Ogun state governor had to step down while passing that toad and help instantly. Aside that, all good. Abuja can(1group) Ph and Uyo can(2 groups) And play KO in Lagos, Ogun, IB Then final in Uyo or Lagos Attendance go choke. Na ROI be the koko. |

Okobi raised a good observation with that tweet. Why are the Naija Journalists in particular barely hyping Halimatu Ayinde despite her b2b show up in the middle of the pack across the last 6years? Why? They hype others but when it's her i can barely see an article or some top top noise or focus on her. For example, The way SA hypes Mothlalo since 2019..... |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 3:37pm On Jul 23, 2025*. Modified: 4:31pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
daveP:I agree with you though on the Mothlalo example, I don’t think it’s like for like. Ayinde does the dirty job in defensive midfield while Mothlalo is a little bit more offensive, probably more similar to the role Echiegini plays in this tournament. People hardly hype defensive midfielders the way they would hype a flashy attacking midfielder. Okobi for instance, was a flashy attacking midfielder for the super falcons. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 3:41pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
daveP:It may have something to do with her attractive she is perceived by the pundits. Let’s be honest, especially with regard to women’s sports, attractiveness plays an outsized role in how a player is hyped (or not) |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 4:29pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
GeneralDae:Yeah. It's not like for like obviously. Maybe in the women's game but in the men's, DMs get correct hype like their CMs and AMs wella. But i still feel the Naija journos owe her that as regardless of position, she's reliable, consistent and ready anyday for any quality of opponent. Can't even remember the last opponent that made us criticize her. Haba!! |

daveP:Why did you leave Delta that had been hosting Alone before?? |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 4:35pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
PDPGuy:Ahh. That will be funny sha if this is the reason. I can mention a few they were around in 2022 but no longer here that aren't all that attractive but still got hype. 😅 |
