do4luv14:Alozie's goal... But to be honest,if not for the attempt by Deborah and Ihuezo, Dlamini likely would have saved it... Ihezuo and Deborah kind of obstructed her positioning for the ball.... |

I dare to say our best game so far in dis tournament was against South Africa 🇿🇦,for once we looked like a team dt had purpose |

Danielnino00:It kind of reminded me of John Utaka's goal against Cameroon at the 2004 Nations Cup. Utaka and Osaze made runs when Kanu got the ball and the Cameroonians were confused about which run to track. The South African goalkeeper was confused about whether she should track the flight of the ball (powered by Alozie's shot) or whether Ihezuo or Deborah would redirect it. |

naptu2:Alozie’s goal is also similar to Uche’s free kick goal vs Greece at the 2010 World Cup. The Greek keeper’s movement was obstructed by the Eagles players in front of him |

Safe to say Nkwocha’s record won’t be touched for a while 😁

Perpetual Nkwocha's record is nearly impossible to beat. Even Banda wont touch it. PDPGuy: |

PDPGuy:Suprised Oshoala has scored more than Desire. But how about Stella Mbachu? Who was the 9 during Perpetua's time, after Akide? |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2: 4:32am On Jul 24, 2025 |
naijaseeker:Desire was the highest goal scorer in 2014 and Oshoala was second. Oshoala was the highest goal scorer in 2016, but Desire was injured for much of the tournament. Oshoala scored a hat-trick in 2018 and Desire scored 2 goals. I'd like to know the number of goals that Ifeanyi and Cynthia scored. |

naptu2:But Desire joined the team in 2011 remember, straight out of the 2010 Falconets. So she would have scored in the 2012 edition no? |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2: 5:13am On Jul 24, 2025 |
naijaseeker:She didn't score in 2012, but she scored 3 goals in 2010. Desire was the highest goal scorer in 2014, but Oshoala (who was in second place) had only one goal less than her. Desire was injured in the middle of the 2016 tournament and Oshoala scored 6 goals, while she scored 3. Oshoala scored 3 goals in 2018 while Desire scored 2. None of them scored in 2022 (Oshoala was injured at the beginning of the tournament) and Oshoala has a goal in 2025. |

naijaseeker:Perpetua played both 9 and AM positions then |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 6:48am On Jul 24, 2025 |
naptu2:I don’t think her club released her for 2012. She was the most inform player for 2012 at the time with fire from the youth competitions while the old super falcons generation of the perpetua’s were slowing down. But if I remember correctly, some reports stated then that Desire wasn’t released to participate in the 2012 edition. |

I wonder how many goals Ifeanyi and Cynthia scored. I remember that there was a particular Nations Cup that Ifeanyi was basically our saviour. |

TheSuperNerd:She played in an era in which the Super Falcons were more superior and heads and shoulders above other teams on the continent so it's understandable. Now the other teams have closed the gap on Nigeria and the other elite teams so its become very difficult to stat padding with lots of goals. |

I had an interesting thought this morning. What if our Super Falcons trained occasionally with the men (Super Eagles) so that they can push their physicality, stamina, mental resilience and endurance even further than it is now? How feasible is this approach? I want to hear the pundits' thoughts on this? p.s the people who have answered so far are only focusing on what the outcome of the matches would be. That's not what I'm talking about. Men's football is definitely on another level. No one with a functional brain can argue with that. The question is for the sake of Super Falcons' development. Obviously they'll lose, but with continuous matchups, how well will they adapt to the men's performance and style? And could it, in any way, prepare them adequately for their games against their fellow women? That was the point of the question. |

QueenJazz:Nah. Women soccer teams the world over, mostly train with U17 professional boys not professional men. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lakesidepapa(m): 10:37am On Jul 24, 2025 |
GeneralDae:They can do that with their male counterpart, it will make them stronger, there is nothing bad in it. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 10:54am On Jul 24, 2025 |
lakesidepapa:They lose heavily to professional U17’s on a few occasions e.g USA and Australian senior women national teams. Falcons also played U15 boys in the past and the games were tight. |

Kibbs:Sometimes I find myself literally shouting "Shût up, just shut ûp!". Really horrible stuff. It takes her decades to arrange her thoughts and when she finally speaks, it's full of poor, dull, pedestrian analysis and grammatical blunders. I wonder who told these TV stations that choosing former players to run commentary is a good idea. Being a good footballer doesn't mean you will be a good analyst not to talk of being a commentator. A commentator has to be specially educated and trained for that. You need to be able to think fast and have a perfect command of English. Oparanozie should please sit out the finals |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by WarHammer2000: 11:33am On Jul 24, 2025 |
QueenJazz:You clearly don't watch football. This has been experimented on several times by several teams. The lesson? Keep women away from men. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lakesidepapa(m): 11:36am On Jul 24, 2025 |
GeneralDae:I mean to train with them |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by QueenJazz(f): 11:46am On Jul 24, 2025 |
WarHammer2000:Then you didn't get the point of the question. It wasn't about who would win. The answer to that is obvious. It's about how well the falcons would adapt and if it could translate to their performance in their usual games. |

QueenJazz:Use Flying Eagles not Super Eagles lol But tbh I think even Golden Eaglets u17 will trash them |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by yinkeys(m): 2:21pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
I have never seen Osinachi Ohale this vulnerable in any tournament Either Alozie gets beat a lot thereby affecting Ohales game or age is now catching up with Ohale 2 or 3 players in this tournament have gone past her |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 3:03pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
yinkeys:It’s mainly because of Alozie. Alozie struggles with fast players and long balls, she is however very dangerous when contributing to the attack. Possible solutions: Bring in Ucheibe to not only support Ayinde in midfield but to fall back quickly when Alozie gets beaten. That way Ohale would not easily panick if she gets beaten too. This would also mean Echiejini would be on the bench for Ucheibe (tough one) OR Bench Alozie for the enterprising Oladipo (which might be a more difficult option for the coach at this stage). |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 3:09pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
GeneralDae:This isn't on Alozie though, not sure why she's in the conversation. Alozie had additional role asides defending. She had to join the attack more often than others, which unfortunately leaves Ohale exposed. Alozie seldom gets beaten when she's playing defense, it's often when she overcompensates on attack and is running back to join the defence that this happens. Like you rightly pointed out, the coach has to instruct one of the midfielders to cover for her when that happens which for now isn't the case. Playing Ayinde and Christy won't solve the problem if that role isn't specifically expected of them. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2: 3:09pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
QueenJazz:I understand what you mean and it already happens informally. It's been happening for a very long time. Asisat Oshoala usually trains (and plays football) with men any time she's in Lagos, Onome Ebi and Evelyn Akhator (Nigerian female national team basketballer) trained with Sikiru Alimi and Abu Azeez (Nigerian league male players) during Covid 19 and Michelle Alozie and Esther Okoronkwo played with men when they were in Lagos in December. I'll post videos later. |

TheSuperNerd:It's a record in perpuity. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 3:11pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
yinkeys:That's because Randy plays defensive and won't leave the backline that exposed. Magudu is a lot more offensive hence the lapses we're seeing. It's still fixable, just let Ayinde know her role particularly when any of the full backs overlap. |
