North Africans generally just have very poor sportsmanship, and they don't really try to hide it. It's why I never root for them in any major tournament.

Sometimes, they remind me of South American teams like Uruguay and Argentina with the way they rely on antics and generally display superiority complex over African sides.
Its obviously a south American influence. They've modified it and made it even worse😂😂😂😂

CAF no wan address all that kine levels. Yet Fifa made rules adjustment when Cameroon gk was holding ball too much that year o. They supposed address the antics and faux dramatizing. Only then they'll realize it's no longer an advantage. But caf dey troway face. Smh

Which federation in the world let their players keep 100% prize money?
daveP:
Actually, nff don cut the cake prior to now. Only $330k will land in the players hands asides the owed bonuses and allowances. 670k to NFF coffees for their unimaginable non-sporty pleasures.

As of today, we are hearing they want to pay the 330k in naira and not dollars. NFF and controversy are Siamese twins. That body dey behave like bureau de change. Once money don pop up, they display unsportsmanlike xtics. 😂

Just watched the game again
Plumptre & Alozie were good in the 2nd half
They redeemed themselves in the 2nd half
All of our players were on fire in the 2nd half
Coach also rectified his errors and made the right changes at the right time
What went wrong in the first half ? They seemed clueless or stunned maybe
There were two major problems in the first half:

First, no left winger in the attack.
Given the fact that Plumptre loves to go forward and track back quickly against the speedy/skillful Moroccan winger on her side, she needed support badly. Ihezuo tried to help but it’s not something she’s used to. She’s a center forward.

The second problem was that an Abiodun / Ayinde combination does not work that well for both. The Ayinde Ucheibe combo or Ayinde Echiejini/ Ijamilusi combo (depending on the formation) is much better. So either Abiodun or Ayinde had to be taken out.

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 10:21am On Jul 28, 2025
Meanwhile grin😐🤨🤨

Alozie is not even the best defender in our backline.

Is this a result of that terrible 1st half performance or what? Like howwwwww.

Esther as LW? 😂😂

Nnadozie undisputed. Many of the goals Dede conceded were totally avoidable if she at least moved or dived. She didn't make an attempt that my mum that used to watch Falcons that year used to be pissed sort of. She had good games though but those funny goals conceded, compared to Nnadozie......

Chiamaka is the better GK

For me, my favourite goalkeeper in super falcons history so far (not the most accomplished though) is Alaba Jonathan. Chiamaka and Oluehi comes close then Precious Dede.

Player of the Tournament for Nigeria?
Esther Okoronkwo easily wins this for me, followed by Ihezuo and then Ijamilusi

I guess there was a motive behind that question after all because this is completely unnecessary.

I think we should be able to separate issues. The question he asked didn't cross journalistic boundaries and it was a fair question honestly. He may as well have personal beef with Asisat but that particular question was fair.

I however saw this list yesterday and felt it was childish and quite frankly below him. Nobody would be wrong to see this as a dig at Asisat. Doesn't make sense at all, particularly when he's using a teammate of hers for his petty dig.

Was waiting for this.

This looks like an "all lives matters" list. Nigeria should have at least 2 persons in defence if they are being serious. I guess they wanted the love to go round.

Better caption is "Falcon Players born outside Nigeria" as Okoronkwo was born in Nigeria so it fits. It's also very possible there are other members of the team who already have dual citizenship elsewhere.

The fact is people have taken it the tribal way and that pisses me off totally. One can't make an true assessment of performance without someone bringing the ingredients of bigotry into it. It is insane.

What's even more astonishing is, if two or three oyinbo sport journos came and said Esther deserved the MVP, and wrote a thread on twitter, dem go still attack am but not as much as when it is a Nigerian tweeting that.

I hate this trajectory. Why do i have to infuse tribal angles to justify my own tribal person when i just need constrictive criticism to assess performance?

Na the same folks(from different tribes in Nigeria) go argue Messi and Ronaldo and not an inkling of bigotry will be involved. It will all be stats, stats, evidence, cheeky banters, more stats, instances and anything that this person could do that the other couldn't.

Until e turn 2 Nigerians.

Infact we don't used to do like this for Nigerian footballers before. We have seen a Osimhen vs Aghahowa and Aiyegbeni, a Osaze vs Moses, and the likes but no tribal angles. We know where this nonsense started sha.

Pages ago, before this final ended, i gave my own choice of who deserves the MVP. Nothing concern me with tribalism. I say it as it is. But here we are. And now more are fueling it beyond normal to a sickening degree.

My POV is you can't influence a remontada final that way and be ignore for that award. But there's a track of POTMs already with Rash(which i don't agree with most anyway).
I hope this doesn't get to a viral level where both teammates begin to dey do their selves one kine one kine. It's that toxic.

We go dey alright.

Oluehi was pivotal in 2019. O my my. Especially the final. That was OG levels of Performance from her. Now she's won another WAFCON alongside Ayinde and co.

I wished those non starters got minutes sha. E dey somehow as they no kick ball. But we are champs anyway.

Ann as Assistant coach on a low. She try.

At this rate, it looks like we haven't recovered one bit from the 2019 APOTY voting controversy. Will that repeat itself this time around for Rasheedat? undecided

I didn't say it crossed anything or his question wasn't fair. I said there was a motive behind it. Just because a question is fair doesn't mean there isn't an ulterior motive.

I hear the NFF might be making moves on Edna Imade soon and she’s still open.

In attack we could have:

Ihezuo, Edna, Oshoala, Kanu, Monday, Okafor, Esther, Babajide, Ajibade, Ijamilusi, Onumonu, Ordega.

Make they add Zidane and Idoko join for Midfield, it won't be a bad idea for Moshood too.

Mercy Idoko of course. There’s also an attacking midfield youngster in the NWFL making waves. Can’t pin down her name now (I think it’s Okechuckwu) . I think she played in the last U20 World Cup for the super falconets.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 5:24pm On Jul 28, 2025
I think you are partially right.
Abiodun is a DM and it showed when Ayinde was removed and JOE came in. Abiodun locked down that midfield in the 2nd half and completely neutralized the Moroccan attack. I recall only 1 clear attempt on goal for the Morroccans in the second half.

Regarding Plumptre, Rinsola coming in pretty much put the left flank on lock down, as Rinsola is a very disciplined left winger who provides more end to end value and compliments Ashleigh better, than Ihezuo who is an out and out striker (as evidenced in the 2nd half).
The JOE and Rinsola substitutions were the turning point of the game and should have been done sooner.
