franchasofficia:It is out of envy. Nothing more. As long as I have brothers, I will keep shutting them down. |

ediko5:The two men I know in this situation are not married to Igbo women. I don't know why anything Igbos on marriage (rites) is over-exaggerated on social media. |

pocohantas:I was explaining this exact thing to someone just two days ago. Their whole argument was flawed because it’s never really about whether the family is rich or poor, it's got nothing to do with tribe, it’s about whether they’re content or entitled. If you marry a woman from a poor background who isn't entitled, you’re in luck. N10k from a son-in-law can feel like N100k to them, and they'll be grateful. But if you're struggling and you marry into a rich, entitled family, they'll still bill you, only this time it's on a whole new level, their own level. A guy fit show up when his poor in-laws dey do burial with a keg of wine, some yams, and maybe N50k, and they’ll give him a whole canopy, if na entitled rich family, if he no buy cow make I know wetin cause am. |

Tallesty1:The difference between the rich and poor is, if you don't give the rich, you know they will still survive. But if you don't give your struggling in-laws, your wife's mood would tell you she isn't happy because her family are having it hard. She might not even be angry at you, but herself for not being able to help them. Naturally you go buy the problem and want to step-in. Feeding is a small part, imagine death. Imagine your FIL dies and none of your wife's siblings are able to finance it. Imagine your wife is now the first child/daughter. Those things that happened to Clems in Naija film would start happening to you. ![]() |

This conversations is what a man must have with his wife before marriage. Also, a man should not start what he cannot finish. If they ask him for stuff, he should always say NO than YES. The moment he started showing up, then dependency will be transferred to him. If his wife wants to raise it up as an issue, then he must be stern and make it clear to her that he has this discussion with her before, and her family responsibilities aint his. Although he should make sure his wife is financially stable, so she can give her family without asking him directly. But for him to be directly responsible should be a NO. The issue here is not about him refusing assistance from his household to his wife's family, but about him not being directly responsible for it. Every man must reject that role. |

Dzzzz:😁 Funny shallow minded homo sapien. So, your definition of a blessed person is that person who spend like a money miss road? That man who's under-educated or uneducated but picks a village girl to train her to university and sometimes send her a abroad for a post graduate education ? Or that man who spend 50 - 70% of his income on and around girlfriend or wife without building himself as a man ? The way una dey think is very funny 🤣 |
