Pride begets downfall. Wasiu is too proud. He felt so ashamed to leave the spot when the door of the aircraft was closed against him.
Equally, the pilot is an arrogant person like wasiu, you can't drive aircraft like that as danfo, pilots are emotionally intelligent, this pilot cannot withstand rare pressure/tension like highjacking threats by terrorists in the air.

It is a very sensitive part of the plane that can cause the total MALFUNCTION of the DME of the plane if tampered with which may cause the plane to stall and crash due to error in figures display on equipment screen.
