Further, Four (4) other newly promoted officers were also decorated at the FESTAC Division for proximity.

Some of the dignitaries at the event are the PCRC Festac division patron, Mr. Okoroji Onu and his wife, Mrs. Onu; the Chairman of PCRC in FESTAC Division, Engr. Sita Obadji; the Chairman of PCRC in Area E Police Command, Mr. Richard Anthony Babatunde Williams, men of the OPC led by their commander, Commander Abe, youths, among others.

I identify with growth.  So you are special today. I always look for every opportunity to celebrate you just the way I shout and fight against bad things. I want to say thank you all; you're the real MVPs, all the officers and men of FESTAC Police Division. Without you, there's no me. That's just what it is. Whether we like it or not. I can't sit down in that office and achieve results without you being in the field. And that is why I always take time to appreciate the men who do the real job out there. So, just know that I appreciate you all.'

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the elegant DPO Matilda said: 'I want to appreciate the promotees. We fight and then we settle but when it is a good thing, I also use that same pressure. That's why I am applying serious pressure to make you know you are special today.'

'Congratulations to all of you. I want to encourage you all to be good ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force. Project the good image of the Force, ensure you wear the ranks with the responsibilities, you have to lead by example. Be professional in your duty', she charged.

In the same vein, she appreciated the Dignitaries who were present at the event. The Chairman of PCRC, he's been a very wonderful person since I came into FESTAC. He helped me settle down and always looked out for me every time. I want to say thank you to our community youths and the OPC.'

The female DPO who assumed duty at FESTAC division about few months ago has taken up landmark projects to make life easy for her officers and men and the entire community. She embarked on a facelift of infrastructure such as the Division building and the clinic building, while also constructing a new visitors toilet and renovating the existing ones and also erecting a huge septic tank drainage system within the premises. She also installed 38 double solar panel streetlights to improve the ambience of the premises especially at night to affirm her belief that 'where there's light, darkness disappears'.

Many of the dignitaries at the event hailed the illustrious DPO for her giant strides since assuming office. In his goodwill message, the Patron of PCRC FESTAC Division, Mr Okoroji Onu said: 'Today is another milestone for us to come and felicitate with the officers who were promoted. FESTAC division is a wonderful division, and since some of us came close to the Division during the years of DPO Okon till now, we've always had a good relationship with the DPOs who have been working very hard.'

'The current DPO, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye has done well, and being the first female DPO in FESTAC, the female touch is there. When ladies enter a place, something must give way. We continue to pray that she succeeds and continues to do well.'

The Chairman, PCRC FESTAC division, Engr. Sita Obadji said: 'This is just the beginning for all the promotees, new rank, new job, new responsibility. They should live up to expectations.

The Chairman, PCRC Area E Command, Mr. Richard Antony Babatunde Williams said: 'FESTAC division is one of the best out of the 7 divisions in my command. I appreciate the incumbent Chairman, Engr. Sita for what he's doing. We have DPOs but by the fact that CSP Matilda is the first female DPO, she has been outstanding among them all. Within a few months, she has changed the face of our FESTAC division, light it up and that's why we are working with her. We really appreciate her for what she is doing.'

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Charity Imadojemu, 'all glory must go to God Almighty. Our DPO, CSP Matilda has gladdened our hearts. Since her arrival at the FESTAC Division, many good things have been happening, we don't need to say much, we can see for ourselves. We are here to work with you and deliver to you.'

'I want to appreciate our sister organization, the OPC that is assisting us to acquire information and intelligence in FESTAC. To Commander Abe and his team, we say thank you.'

Thank You Jesus

I had an epiphany recently that the police problem stems from the colonial era i:e from inception.
The colonial masters formed the police to harass the locals into submission.
This trait is being passed down like a generational curse till present.
Similar system is found in countries like India where the colonial master used the police for same purpose, their own is just slightly better

Many rank-and-file officers in the Nigerian Police Force are underpaid, poorly trained, and exposed to incredibly harsh working conditions. Some are deployed without basic equipment, accommodation, or even support from their superiors. A lot of them are stuck in a system that rewards loyalty to power rather than merit or professionalism.

Imagine being tasked with enforcing the law while struggling to feed your family, or being punished or transferred for refusing to "play along" with a corrupt superior. That doesn't make the corruption right—but it helps explain how even good people can get swallowed by a broken system.

There are still officers—albeit a minority—who try to do their jobs with dignity and empathy, even within that broken system. The hope is that, with reforms, accountability, and pressure from the public, those kinds of officers won’t just be the exception.

You have every right to call out abuse and demand better, and voices like yours are part of what pushes change. But we also need to advocate for a complete overhaul that considers the humanity of everyone involved—from victims to the officers themselves.

Nothing good can come out of these guys. They're only decorating themselves. Nigerians aren't decorating them

PBAT, Sanwo Olu, FHA , Amuwo Odofin LGA and the entire residents of Festac Town should be ashamed of themselves.

I visited FESTAC and I shed hot tears for FESTAC Town.

The aesthetics, ambience, layout and spacing has been distorted and looks like the biggest shadow of its former self. Bad roads, floods, shanty enclaves, motorbike, dirt etc have defaced FST.

As a former Festac Dude, Festac needs to be restored ASAP.

Grapevine has it that the neglect of Festac is due to the dominance of Igbo's in the community.

No, na renumeration problem.

When you treat your police and uniform officers well with good renumeration like Dubai police and Canada Corrections or US DEA.

Where everywhere soft for their side. Them go treat civilians soft.

But when them get no joy, life hard for them, their eyeballs red. You want make them smile to you? No amount of training will make them smile unless govt treat them Well

This promotion now, it's innocent people that will suffer for it.

They will go out in their numbers to extort people in the name of wanting to "wash" their promotion.

Just like in the States too, the colonial masters(the English) formed the police of Scottish and Irish peoples who they considered as less than them and saw them as nearly equal to 'black'. The English used them to oppress blacks on their behalf promising the Scottish and Irish a promotion to be seen as 'white'.

Congratulations to them all,may God Almighty continue to protect them and May God Almighty touch them to do good all the time. The police is not the problem, the problem is the society and the government. The society gave birth to the type of police organization we have.
