Part of me think it's unsportsmanlike though. Why you go touch another person's bottle. But then, you gats do everything to win.

For example Suarez handball, Valverde clipping that Atletico guy.

Hannah hampton 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 just went on talk sport and revealed that during the pen shootout she realised Cata had her waterbottle in the goal with the stats for penalties on it. So hannah picked it up and threw it into the crowd and replaced it with her water bottle. When beth went up to take her penalty, hannah saw cata looking around for her water bottle which obviously was nowhere to be found. Hannah said she was trying really hard not to laugh when she saw cata looking for it 😭😭

It reminds me of what happened in 1990.

I hated Argentina in 1990 and there were certain teams that I was hoping would knock them out of the world cup.

Argentina played Brazil in the quarter-finals and to my surprise they beat Brazil. There were later rumours that the Argentinians drugged the Brazilians.

Decades later, Maradona and Carlos Bilardo admitted that they put sleeping pills in a bottle of water. The players were drinking water during a break in play and the Argentinians gave Branco the spiked water. I think other Brazilians also drank out of the drugged water.

Alozie was never in his plan. His team had visa issues, and fortunately we had a lot of Nigerians in the US then. Tosin and Deborah are from age grade team. Ifeoma has never really settle or impress, especially to the standard we expected.

BTW, what was the use of using 5 years to assemble players when you didn't win a spoon with them?
My broda, you win. Like the late Osadebey sang, Osondi Owendi, "to each his own".

Vera Okolo on Channels TV now.

She is calling on Tinubu to review the past because they were neglected and not paid in 2004 even after beating Cameroon 5-0 to win the 4th straight title. They had to protest and stay back in South Africa , they had nowhere to stay and were even been fed by Nigerians in South Africa.

Eventually, the Governor of Rivers State intervened and then much later Obasanjo invited them after the entire controversy to give them a presidential handshake and 1 million naira. In 2006, even when they won the title, they were not paid and there was nothing. In 2008, she got injured on their way for an Olympic qualifier game and she was abandoned at the airport, left alone to take care of her surgery, and her contract with a Finnish club was terminated.

And she is just speaking up now? When those responsible are no longer on the seat? Since all these years.
Nigeria needs to do better though..

Even their coach Izilien died recently without getting his salary of over 12,000 USD. The painful thing is that he died battling poverty at old age without NFF paying his dues which would have been of much help to him at the time. He went to complain on Channels TV as well shortly before he died.

Sincerely do not understand your retort. Does her speaking now automatically suggest they never spoke before? I've followed Nigerian football a bit, and I'm aware of numerous players who have spoken (both male and female) at one point or the other that didn't yield result. What players do is that they keep speaking hoping the government in power will be sympathetic to their request which is what I believe she's done.

Also, are promises made on behalf of the Nigerian government no longer binding because those who made them are no longer on seat? I believe it was during the Buhari government some of the promises made to the 1994 eagles set was fulfilled. It is why I am not a fan of these jamboree display even though I'm happy for the girls. Have a sustainable structure independent of whoever is in government that appropriately rewards athletes for excellence.

Hmm, I doubt if this really happened exactly like this. In this era of VAR, she would have gotten a straight red card for unsportsmanlike behavior. Unless VAR somehow did not notice or the Spanish keeper did not complain to the referee.
