My FIRST time on Ghana was in 1988 by air en route to the beautiful city of Abidjan in Cote D'Ivoire.

BUT in reality, Ghanains are very friendly until you offend them then they can be unforgiving. The recent protests against several well-documented crimes by foreigners from Nigeria in their country (through mass media reports with the full names of those arrested published by the Ghana Police) by and that illegal Eze Ibo guy parading himself around illegally using the HRM title were the final triggers for the protests by Ghanains.

Credible information reaching me is that some Ghananian landlords are refusing to rent houses to specific people from Nigeria due to those crimes committed in their country.

In any event, as long as you are documented legally in Ghana, then you are free to stay. The target is getting the illegal or undocumented Nigerians out of Ghana.
Has it occured to you that Ghana of 1988 was much better than Ghana of today - just like Nigeria

Nigeria is not better in any ramifications.

You can travel within Ghana without the fear of getting kidnapped.
The electricity you mentioned is not just a trivial issue.

A lot of Nigerians are tapping into legitimate profession in the global digital economy like Forex, Crypto, Content creation etc.

Lack of electricity is holding people back. Or is it the draconian Tinubu policies? Someone can move to Ghana just because of constant light

Also the value of their money has risen three times against the Naira since 2023 so what is better about this hellhole
A bit of leadership, did you miss that part? You're free to go and find out if it's indeed better or not.

He was definitely describing the Ghana BEFORE the "Nigeria Must Go" protests in several Ghanaian cities over the crimes committed by people largely from a specific part of Nigeria based on the full names of those publish by the Ghana Police.
Can you give us a small hint what part of Nigeria those people are from wink

This is a sane country runner without the Fulanis and the Yoruba who are only good at liquidating a country..I stayed in Ghana for seven years, some Nigerians there so well while some carry out criminal activities especially the Yorubas and the Igbos.
But Yorubas and Igbos make up Nigeria. Who else is there?

He said the roads are so good . Oga leave that thing. If you want to leave Nigeria to other African countries try Moroco , Egypt, South Africa or Mouricious
Hiw about Kenya and Rwanda? Even Cotedevoir
Problem is, those places are far. Ghana, you can travel by road

Oga be calming down. You won’t tell us when you run back to Nigeria. Lol

Up till now some Ghanaians wish to visit Nigeria and you are super excited because you traveled to Ghana by road. What would happen if you now visit South Africa? Not to worry very soon Ghanaians will start calling you kwasia
What is Kwasia? grin

Ghana is peaceful and all but Nigeria is way better. I have great friends from my short vacations in Labone and Osu, however our high brow areas will easily dust theirs.

I'm not saying this as a competition thing, but seeing that people read posts like these and fantasize about a land flowing with milk and honey, it's necessary to enlighten the thread readers.

The port Harcourt OP is even coming from is way better than a lot of places in Accra, not to talk of Lagos and Abuja. We have better infrastructure too.

As per the light, our light in Nigeria (most parts) has greatly improved and is similar now to what you will obtain in Accra (if you factor in "Dumsor" or load shedding).

If you leave Accra and head to places like Kumasi and other sub regions, then you will understand that Nigeria is light years ahead of a lot of these African countries.

In summary, Ghana is a lovely country. Only go there if you have legitimate business being there. A lot of people go to foreign countries and end up in crime due to frustrations of not being able to secure a job or find something doing. Plan well before making life changing decisions you might end up regretting.

What Nigeria need is a bit of leadership and you will see that we can only be compared to just one or two countries in Africa. If you must leave Nigeria, head only to the UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany.
How about if you're in UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany and you are just tired, where would you advise the person to go?

And this leads to the ultimate point, where you go doesn't determine wether you will succeed or not. Success only comes from value creation. People in Lagos or Abuja doing legitimate businesses can even be more wealthy than someone in those first world countries. It's all about value creation, wherever you may find yourself.

Lol, life is like that. No one earns anything less than the perceived value they create or have. Even when you steal as a politician, it's because you're valuable enough to be in that circle.

What we should strive for, is creating genuine value, sell a product or service(legitimate) no matter where you are.

So what part(s) of Tech are you in?
And thank you for a beautiful thread. Your storytelling skills are top-notch.

What also shine through are your absolute faith in God, your gentlemanliness & your wonderful home background/upbringing. Your gentlemanliness & your wonderful home training glow especially in your handling comments & criticisms of those couple of obviously bitter frustrated souls. Ya mama trained you well.

#Peace (of mind) & a structured society over grandiose opulent heartless buildings, hands down - time after time.

You don't have to be tribalistic with your comments.
I've noticed that with most of your comments on here.
So off putting.
He's not the only one. In fact, he's probably more diplomatic than most I have seen on this forum, even on this thread. He wasn't specific about the people, but it's almost everyone's guess. That's not to say he's correct, by the way.

Crimes and bad actions have no tribe. One group of people might do them more, but it doesn't mean they are the only ones who do them. It's just like people thinking Nigerians are scammers, but I am a Nigerian and I am not a scammer.

It's just so unfortunate seeing people calling out one tribe or another as the problem of Nigeria. Are all the politicians in government from the same tribe? Are they all not working together? Look at the ones in the National Assembly, for instance. And these bigots, are they even acting as a good citizen would?

I think some people can actually miss their potential helpers with such a myopic thought process. Your helper or benefactor may not be from your tribe, race, or even your family!

You said Chisco motors to Accra is cheaper, than you using YSG to same Accra, pls specify their various fares. Thank you. I'm really enjoying this story now, covered under the duvet cos of this Abuja rain today. 😅😅

africaBlogworld:
So we continue…

The night at the hotel passed quickly.
I woke up with that mix of excitement and determination you feel when the road ahead leads to a new chapter.

Before I proceed…

Let me digress a little to talk about my hotel in Amuwo.
For those who know Amuwo, you know the environment.
The hotel I booked was neat and clean surprisingly refreshing for the area.

When I checked out, I told the porter I’d give them a good review because my night there was cool, peaceful, and I prayed before stepping out that Sunday morning.

Now, to place things in order:
This journey started 11th July in Port Harcourt,
I entered Lagos on 12th,
And now, 13th, I was leaving Lagos for Accra.

Initially, I wanted to book YSG to Accra, but the fare was high.
So, I chose Chisco, more affordable, but as I would soon find out, that came with its own price.
I had booked on Saturday to avoid last-minute wahala.

Sunday morning, I left the hotel for the Chisco Park.
And, as you know how parks can be rowdy, agberos everywhere, passengers heading to all corners of the country.

I bought food to eat while waiting and informed the staff about my trip. They told me to just relax.

The scheduled 8:00 AM departure started shifting.
By 9:00 AM, I was still seated, and the Port Harcourt in me started asking questions before dem go “whine my nipple” (as we say back home).

Turns out, because of bad reviews from previous Accra trips, many people were boycotting Chisco.
I even advised the staff to work on their customer feedback and rebuild confidence. Whether them go gree listen, I don’t know.

Anyway, with low passenger turnout, I sat there until 10:00 AM.
Finally, another passenger for Accra showed up, and we were told we’d be taken to the Chisco head office in Maza Maza to join other travelers.
Relief!

By 11:30 AM, we were boarding bikes , see me and my heavy load.
Chai! Son of man has suffered. 😂

We arrived at the head office, checked passports and all necessary documents for the border, then they inspected bags for contraband.

Once done, they started loading us and when I say loading, I mean like sardines with the baggage inside.

If you saw my situation, you would pity me.
But man must survive, so I entered.

They tried to soften the blow by giving us mineral and water but no food!
And this after the fare we paid?
It is well.

For me, the goal was simple , reach my destination.
So, by 12:00 PM, the journey that was meant to start at 8:00 AM finally began.
We moved from Maza towards the Badagry border.

Stay tuned… Border paroles loading.
