Let’s clear up some common misconceptions.

The idea that women have half a brain is simply not true. The Qur’an doesn’t say this at all. There’s a hadith in Bukhari that talks about deficiency in intellect and religion,but the Qur'an clarified that this refers to specific legal matters.

When it comes to legal testimony, two women can stand in for one man (Qur’an 2:282).

Regarding religion, it’s about being excused from fasting and prayer during menstruation. Which should be seen as careful consideration.

So it’s really about legal roles, not a measure of intelligence.

The claim that husbands may beat wives is a misrepresentation. In fact, Qur’an 4:34 outlines three steps for dealing with serious marital issues; giving advice, separating, and then, if necessary, a symbolic gesture of discipline. The Prophet (pbuh) made it clear that Harsh physical punishment is not allowed (Abu Dawud 2146).
Any action taken should be symbolic, like using a miswak twig (Muslim 1218).
He (pbuh) emphasized that the best among you are those who are best to their wives (Tirmidhi 3895). Islam promotes kindness, not abuse.

The notion of 72 virgins in Paradise for every man is another very misleading view. The Qur’an does mention hur al-ʿin (pure spouses) in Paradise (44:54; 56:22), but it doesn’t specify a number. While one hadith mentions 72 for martyrs (Ibn Majah 4337), scholars have differing opinions on its authenticity.

The Qur’an assures us that Paradise holds joys that no one can even imagine (32:17). The rewards are spiritual and far beyond earthly desires.

In summary, Islam does not teach that women are less intelligent, does not condone wife-beating, and does not promise 72 virgins to every man. The Qur’an and Sunnah focus on justice, mercy, and eternal rewards that far exceed these misinterpretations.
