This is a wrong analog because it is actually the truth. Men come home to marry the average village girl and even sponsor them. Men take their women abroad through marriage and were you living under a rock with all the stories we hear of how these women turn on their husbands? Still does not make it a criminal offense to choose not to marry from your home country. That post I quoted, and yours supporting it, are too petty. People should marry whoever they desire to. There are women that marry their boyfriends back home, you can't say there has never been one. Generalization is one common mistake many people make in discussions like this.

You're right but a lot of Nigerians have this myopic mindset.they believe once he's not otedola or adenuga or he's not projecting billionaire status or personality he's not my destiny helper.they rather gravitate towards people who look outwardly flashy meanwhile your destiny helper may just be wearing jeans and t-shirt looking and acting simple but because he doesn't look the part people tend to unknowingly ignore,disrespect or look down on them.infact people who God has used to help me I notice that they don't look the part.infact I didn't even believe I wil be talking to them.

The guy who helped me looked for an accommodation when I was in school and had accommodation issues was an okada rider,the person who gave me shelter to lay my head when I got back from a party very late in the night was a market maiguard, the person God used in connecting me to my job was a teacher I Met in a canteen but you see many of these gen zs they're very daft.if I'm not driving a wagon or giving off the obi cubana vibe they assume he/she is of no value. They always pretend to be intelligent and have sense until you draw them close before you see say many of them nor too dey intelligent and are quick to discard or look down on people who they assume are not capable of helping them because they don't look like the image they have in their head. I'll give you an example. There's one genz boy that used to work in our organisation. He doesn't work there again at the moment. I and everyone at home started liking him because he used to take care of my mom and was very patient and affectionate with my mom when she was old and sick but as soon as he didn't work in our institution again started giving one annoying attitude and everyone noticed it.unknown to this boy he wasn't even aware we were planning to help him get a better job that he will earn 3 times his salary.it was much later we discovered that he has gotten a job on his own which is nothing compared to the salary he will have been getting if he got the job we were working out for him and speaking to a certain permanent secretary. We now figured that no wonder he's been acting funny.so because he thinks my mom is OK now he can deserve to give everyone attitude so unwanted to tell him,my older sibling say make I leave am dey look am till he do himself. Afterall we all know the result of an ignorant proud person.the work went to someone else that should have been him. Even other opportunities he should be getting he thinks he doesn't need anyone's help.now economy don hook everyone he no get liver ask for anything or cook anything. Mind you, I am speaking up for the single guys, as for me, I am happily married lol


When I was single and struggling, I met some, mostly Americans (indigenous), Australians, Singaporean, Irish and Canadians through my blogging back then. They really wanted serious relationship that would lead to the altar, but I was too broke and had no confidence to enter into any committed relationship both in Nigeria and via online with the foreign ones. Maybe because I am born traditional African man who believes that as the man, I should be the breadwinner and possibly sole provider, so I couldn't imagine getting into a committed relationship and then marriage in my very broke status back then lol


Other guys enjoy it, they have the guts to do it but I never had the guts, and that's why I married when I became extremely stable financially and I always thank God for that decision but then, I am not other guys.


I have a friend that was lucky to meet an American lady, he was broke too cos we just finished NYSC and they married, the American lady sponsored everything and filed for him to join and it wasn't long he joined her. I can confidently tell you that today, that lady is one of the happiest woman on earth. They are blessed with 3 kids, all grown now, my friend had to go back to school and today he is earning exceedingly well and rewards the wife with footing more than 60% of the family's bills cos he is super grateful to her and always flaunting her and the kids on his social media handles. Some coursemates too did and one other secondary school classmate and they are all happy with their foreign wives.


So its not as if the ladies going back to Nigeria to get a guy to marry are doing it just to help the guys, they are also helping their own life you know
