Majority studied science courses while commercial graduates in courses like Economics, Accounting and Finance struggle to compete against them. No thanks to mathematical inclined aptitude test for employment. |

The problem with studying one thing and ending up doing a totally different thing is that you'll hardly move up the career ladder in your chosen career because you don't have a background there. Banks intentionally exploit this loophole so they can keep their staff in one tiny spot—doing so much and earning little. I wouldn't advise anyone go this route. It's always limiting because your employer will always use that weakness to exploit you. |

edoman2016:Undergrads of those art-related courses are also taught mathematics. The thing is that science students are generally more intelligent. |

samuelson06:This is SO not true. Ask the top bank MDs what they studied. Not just banks alone, even multinationals, ask the VPs what they studied and you will be shocked. With the exception of very few fields such as law, that statement is not accurate. |

None of these persons will climb up the career path except they back up with certifications and a postgraduate degree that aligns with their current posts. |

In many jobs, they only needs your first degree, they know, for you to become graduate, you can use the knowledge to manoeuvre your way to make the company succeed. After all, even bank & finance graduate would still undergo additional training before, he can fit in, in bank industry. |

aieromon:DECEIVING urself. They would definitely get to the pinnacle of their careers, provided their productivity is topnotch, or their father or relative is one of biggest shareholders in the bank. Before you arguing further, just go to website of any Nigeria bank and check educational background of 1st-10th personnel in its hierarchy. |

SmartPolician:who said. Arts students don't do further mathematics in school. Many arts courses in university you hardly have any mathematics content. So science students are at advantage having done further mathematics and also done maths in uni and even compulsory statistics courses. Aig ran access bank and he read law. |

Science students pay attention to details and are usually very intelligent. Back in secondary school, not everyone who branched into the science class succeeded. Some who could not cope were later sent back to Arts or Social Science. But for Arts and Social Science students, there was no other department to fall back to — you simply stayed there whether you performed well or not. After secondary school, I went on to study Computer Science in a Polytechnic. Even at that level, many students were dropped after ND 1 due to performance issues. This is why science students often excel in any position or office they find themselves. Science is very competitive, but I am glad to say that I have successfully completed my HND. |

Glimpsetv:If not that wickedness has been propagated in the society and heart of men, every sound graduate can fit into many fields. With an intensive training of 6 months or one year (theory and practical) a sound graduate will do well in medicine, law and the engineering fields. Most courses in the West are just 3 years courses. Those 3 years may include time for social weeks and a few time to lazy about. |
