There are reports widely shared and distributed on social media, claiming that the Department of State Services DSS is currently recruiting officers and other ranks.
These reports claims that DSS is inviting handwritten applications at its offices nationwide, with several applicants confirming these reports.
Although DSS through the DSS recruitment portal https://www.dss.gov.ng/dss_career has debunked these reports, stating that it is not currently recruiting.
Alleged Requirements for DSS Recruitment
The following are the alleged requirements for DSS Recruitment:
1. BSc degree, with at least 5 credits in O’Level results, including English language, obtained in a single sitting
2. Applicants with Degrees or HND must have a minimum of lower second class (2.2) or above
3. For females, the requirement specifies that they must be single
4. A minimum height of 1.60m e. Other ranks must be between 18 and 27 years old, while senior officer applicants (Degree/HND holders) must not exceed 30 years
5. All officer applicants are also expected to present an NYSC certificate
6. Candidates are expected to be willing to submit handwritten applications at their state command offices

According to the claims, interested applicants have until August 26, 2025, to submit their applications in their state of origin and will be taking the DSS exam on the 30th of August 2025.

How To Apply For DSS Recruitment

The application process, according to reports distributed online, requires interested individuals to submit their documents to the nearest DSS office in their state of origin. The application must be addressed to:
Director General,
Dept of State Services National Headquarters,
Abuja Through The State Director Dept of State Services of your State of Origin

The application must be handwritten and should include:
1. Phone number
2. National ID card number such as NIN
3. Birth certificate
4. First School Leaving Certificate FSLC
5. NYSC Certificate
6. State or LG identification letter

Handwritten applications should be accompanied by a Resume, with a NIN slip or card attached. Applications are expected to close on 26th August, 2025, while entry examinations are reportedly scheduled for 30th August 2025.

People submitted yesterday. 26th of August is the deadline date. If you are in Ibadan, no stress, just go with a photocopy of all documents required, an extra white paper sheet (in case you are told to write your letter), they won't accept local government from other states apart from Ibadan, and patience. No forget a copy of Statement of result of certificate from your uni.

Passport photograph isn't required but go with it if you want.

Their office is located at Aleshinloye, very easy to locate. Ask any Yoruba bikeman, not Hausa oo.
