ShindaraOla:
No approval mail from UKVI
They hardly send approval email.
What they send mostly is refusal email.

So in the absence of refusal email, there is 99% probability that it has been approved.

Hello everyone,
Please does UK confirms visa refusal or ban from US precisely from year 2009.
Am working to apply for UK tier 5- temporary visa and my fear has been what to fill. The story is old and long but pls bear
I was refused a US immigrant visa vid DV in year 2009. Although no fingerprint collected and no police report print collected at interview date.
Paid an agent back then who merged me with a principal applicant as her husband. Marriage certificate, wedding pictures arranged. We went for interview, but the cashier advised she go in alone because I had dollar to for one applicant and naira to pay for second applicant. Reason because they can't take 2 denomination for a file. That once applicant is given she can send email for new interview for her spouse. She went in was granted visa and we sent email and interview was scheduled. She insist she couldnt go with me then, several excuses and just 2 weeks interval, she had picked her passport with visa, later called me on phone giving excuses I go alone. Agent pleaded tried to reach her but no way. I went alone for the interview and the officer ask a simple question where is she, my answer was she is sick and had to be with her parents, he said well she spoke with her at US port last night, he had put a clause on her visa and she will be sent back. That he wanted clear his doubt that is why he asked us to come together. And he will give a ban. Although I was giving a refusal letter no ban written on it. I didn't bother on any visa application since then.
Now that am thinking of UK, my concern is the marriage certificate, no divorce done. I have been married with kids.
Please I need advice, so I won't be having issues filling form or concealing facts.

Well a ban from US doesnt affect any other visa application so you didnt need to be afraid of applying for any visa.
Besides you do not know if you got a ban. If you did it was probably 5 or 10yrs so that time has passed

Please fear not .it doesn't mean anything.
If the uk visa form you fill asks questions on previous refusals just put yes and indicate you dont know. or you are not sure as the reason for the refusal.
Pls note most US visa refusals do not tell you why they deny you visas

This is terrible advise, people like you are the kind that can implore any means necessary to get a visa, either by hook or crook. Someone was caught red handed in the act of declaring a fraudulent marriage in order to obtain a visa and you're saying it doesnt affect other visa applications. You even went further to say he may not be banned, and even if he was banned, time has passed so it doesnt matter. Are you for real? Lastly you mentioned most US visa refusals do not state why an applicant is denied, honestly there must be something in the water you drink for you to think this way.

There are a bunch of things I would like to recommend as the approach you can take, but I will tell you to consult an immigration lawyer who is conversant with UKVI. I am not one and I am not looking to recommend any, if you take your time to research you will find competent people. Your case isnt the usual, please seek professional help, not visa agent. Seeking professional help will cost you some good money but consider it as part of the price you have to pay for your error in jugdement years ago. Nevertheless you could still go at it yourself, having consulted wide. If you do, please avoid people like that fellow who said your previous situation doesnt affect anything, they don't mean well for you

Really appreciate your input, am not scared of telling the truth, I can state the marriage as previous on the form but my fear is no divorce document to back it. So I got confused. I will search for immigration lawyer like you advices for better counsel. And am certain genuine people are on nairaland with broader view

Fill the form and state the truth. The truth will always set you free.

What will be, will be. Just say the truth and let it be known that you are now a changed person and ready to do the right thing.

I stand by what I said.
He had an immigrant visa interview, if you understand how that works you must show up with your spouse at interview for DV lottery Spouse travelled to the US before him and based on his account of the interview that was why spouse was sent back and he was refused.
The fact that he told us the marriage was fraudulent does not conclude that's what the visa officer determined.
He does NOT KNOW IF HE WAS BANNED.if he was sure he would tell us
Regardless bans are typically 5urs or 10 yrs

His question to this thread is whether he should declare the US visa refusal in his forthcoming UK Tier 5 visa application and I said he should do so. He does not know nor is he sure why he was refused.

Anyone who has been refused US visa application will tell you the paper they give tells you no details on the reason. All interviewees can share is how the interview went that's all. It's UKVI that will give you bullet points on exactly why , US doesn't owe you even that.

So why should the OP allow that to now limit his options in life for every other country he might want to aspire to. Since 2009? 16yrs ago?

People who are deported from the US at port of entry have migrated legally elsewhere with no need of an immigration lawyer

People deported form the UK have reentered legally

Hello all , I am worried about raising suspicion if my mum’s status changes from self employed to employed ?
This is actually the real situation as she’s had to stop her petty trade due to personal circumstances.

Hope it wouldn’t raise a red flag during reapplication as she was previously denied .

Thank you in anticipation for your input.

Self employment does not mean she is earning hugely.
In the UK we have self employed individuals earning lower than 1k pounds annually. They do not have to pay tax etc.. they can continue as a one man business etc.
So what exactly is the issue with the self employed part?
She can also be self employed, earning little and therefore not have a business account.
She can be a farmer, a fisherwoman, a petty trader.
Everything is about presenting your circumstances in a way the visa officer understands.
As long as she is elderly and has a sponsor, her profile is 50% good to go, the rest is for you to handle the filling of form and compilation of an adequate profile showing her home ties to complete the other 50%.

I second Taal’s advice.
I have seen cases like this. Follow his/her advice, the first and second one.
In your circumstances, that’s the safest. With the little experience I have, that’s the safest for your situation.
My advice would be different if this were UK or Schenghen past immigration history.

I had same issue as yours but I decided not to changed her occupation just that on the second application I wrote petty trader, just write self employed and also put petty trader,
My mum's visa was denied on 7th of August, reapplied and did her biometrics last week and she got her visa on Tuesday.
Don't change what was written in the first application, some visa officers may count it as false information.
Good luck.

But she was recently denied on basis of there is no business activity in her account. How do I amend that in the next application?

Hello , thank you for your input.
What changes did you make in the application that made you get the visa and what was she denied for in the first place ?
How were you able to reapply so quick ?
The denial states that there is no proof of business activity in her statement of account.
How do I rectify this ?

It can be explained that it is a small scale business/petty trading.
That her farming is mainly for her family consumption and the surplus is sold in the market for cash or little amounts that’s why no frequent business activity on the bank statements. That it doesn’t generate much income. Then take pictures of her on a farm with farm produce or in a fish pond with fish or in a small kiosk.
Then end it with the trip is going to be fully sponsored etc

The agent didn't submit my bank statement, I reapplied and wrote a letter, explaining I am going to be sponsor her expenses.

I reapplied early because I needed her help for post partum, also explained to visa officer why she is visiting and addressed the reason for her first application.
My dad wrote consent letter, submitted my dad's pension letter, house documents and bank statement.
Her pastor also wrote a letter on her behalf, I submitted her Deaconess ordination certificate, also pictures of her performing church duties.
I sent 2.5 million to her account in March, my sister usually run the account for her POS business thrice in a day, so it's shows she is running the account.

Attached with this message is my mum's refusal letter.

Thanks so much for the detailed information and congratulations on your newborn 😊

How long did you say she’ll be staying with you for and how much did you declare as for her sponsorship. Also for clarity if you don’t mind , how much did your soc reflect cuz I know some it’s usually said to have 2 or 3 times the sponsorship amount.

Thank you

Please, I have been trying to make a payment for a UK Visitor visa for the past few days with my Polaris and First Bank ATM cards, and have not been able to.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Are there any alternative ways to make payments seamlessly?

Good day house, For someone who is earning 900k and is planning to apply for a UK visit, Is it advisable to apply?
Note - He is single, has no travel history on his passport and has a bank account balance of about 8million naira. He would be the one sponsoring himself for the trip.

Good day everyone,

Well done to all contributing to the forum.
I am currently completing my UK visa application and would appreciate some clarification on the following points:

For the question “Where do you plan to stay in the UK”, am I required to provide hotel booking details and enter the hotel information in that section?

In the section on previous visa refusals outside the UK, if I cannot recall the exact reasons given, can I simply provide the date of the refusal along with the type of visa I applied for?

Regarding previous employment history: as an employee of a government parastatal, should I select the option shown in the image below?
