No. Trekking is part of exercising. Your bones will be stronger as an old man, compared to other old men who were sedentary in their earlier years.

On the contrary you're preparing yourself for a healthy old age, trekking is a form of exercise.

As for me I don't trek much, if I don't drive I ride my bicycle...... Cycling is my major exercise, I usually do that on saturdays.

If you trek well and eat well, you'll surely look far younger than your age. Not like trekking everyday in a scorching sun o.

Many people who drive set time aside to walk so it's good but it also has its side effects.

Walking long distances perpetually can make your knees give way at some point because by walking, you are running two bones against each other constantly. Moderation is key.

2. The harsh tropical Nigerian Sun is not something to fiddle with. If you continue walking long distances under the hot sun, you may soon suffer from dehydration, lack of fat or energy reserves, sunburns. We've not factored in sweaty clothes, body odor, loss of confidence in arriving flustered to work or having your colleagues drive past en route or you depart last at the work gate because you're trekking.

Without good shoes, your shoe soles will deteriorate, your feet soles will blister and your calf muscles will cramp. Let's not forget that you would arrive your destination exhausted and hungry, and lose valuable time in transit.

In summary, gauge yourself. Sometimes that transport fare is worth it.

Walking everyday , in moderation (30 /40 minutes duration everyday ) is good for the health.
Usually done early in the morning or late in the evening when the midday sun is not overhead and scorching.
On the other hand ,trekking everyday at a very long distance ,worst if it is under the sun ,is not .
That is suffering pro max.
It is either you make provision for transportation fare for your work or quit that job and get a workplace close to where you live.
Your health is paramount.

Moderation is key. Excessive walking, especially in our climate, can seriously strain your vitality. Consider getting either a bicycle or bike, and alternate between walking and cycling when necessary.

At all bro, you should even be bothered if you are walking less, if you keep it up as a habit, hopefully as a hobby and not out of necessity as you age, it would guarantee you are more mobile and in better health than your age mates.

2 km is small now. I use to trek 8km some days. 2 km is my minimum and 4km is like average to me and I'm very fit if you see me
I do this because my job requires 8 hours of sitting in a day.

Yes. You're causing serious problems for yourself. In fact, you're setting up yourself for future health problems. But that's if you don't eat well and take care of yourself. If you do, you're good.

Our ancestors lived long and strong because of a active life. They trekked long distances, carried things, even into their older ages.

If you'd have any problem at all in your older ages, trekking isn't one that'll affect you negatively. It's a positive contribution for you.
