How Do I Handle This Guy And Who Has Had Such Experience Before by King2305(op): 4:54pm On Aug 29, 2025
Good Evening Nairalanders. Hope we are all doing so good in this period. E no easy for anybody at all.

Ok. Here is this case that I desperately need an opinion.

I paid someone for an online job. To give me reviews on my online product. 6 reviews for 3k each. Totalling 18k. I understand very well how it's done and he was supposed to do his work in less than a week. So, in one week time, I noticed he has done 2 remaining 4. The 2 reviews he dropped vanished in less than 3 days and it was not a normal thing.

Even though I understand quite alright how the system works but the disappearance under 2 days was something I wasn't expecting and I was disappointed about it. Some vendors do give immunity of 2 months and if anything should happen under these 2 months, they will replace the reviews or refund you.

I contacted this guy after 9 days and complained that his reviews has not dropped and the 2 that dropped has disappeared. He didn't reply the message.
On the 12th day, I contacted him again and he boldly and arrogantly asked me "who am I to dm him without greeting him first"

Below is a sample of message I sent him
"Guyyy...
Today is day 12 I paid for 6 reviews.
Out of the 6 reviews, 2 dropped and disappeared in less than 4 days.
I message you and u snub my message.
I want to believe there is explanation for that"

He started insulting me. That I didn't go to school, I don't have sense, blah blah. That i was supposed to greet him good evening Sir before complaining.

It was so painful bcuz, ordinarily the riffraff can't stand me physically.

He said he won't drop the remaining 4 reviews and he won't refund me.

I'm a Pharmacist and over the past days, I called a friend in DSS and he said I should forget the money cuz its too small. I told him it's not about the money. He advised I go to EFCC and gave me a contact.

I went to EFCC in the where I stay yesterday and they advised I leave the guy as the money is too small. I told them it's not about the money. I want to arrest the guy and press charges against him.

Many Nigerians don't know the financial crime it is to collect money and intentionally not deliver there work. I showed EFCC where he said he won't do his work and won't refund and I can't do anything.

One lady advised me the financial cost of tracking and arresting, pressing charges and other logistics.

After a while they told me to go home and think about it. If by next week I still have the intention of arresting this guy, I should come and they will proceed with the case. However I should note the financial cost. They already gave me estimate and they won't guarantee they will get him soon enough as I expect.

My own is that I sincerely want to deal with this boy. Je stays in Ibadan and I stay in south south. I won't pay someone for a job and he is insulting me on top my money.

I also have contacts with civil defense in ibadan but those ones dey call money for tracking.

If anyone has dealt with an online vendor please give me an opinion cux the financial cost of getting this boy legally is quite high.

I know I would spend money but not the amount these guys are giving me.

I have dealt with an issue of this kind before. Send me a mail on Nairaland and I'll drop my contact.

It's no lie legal tracking will cost you. They will ask money for all the online stuff when their location is found they will still ask money for mobilization (you will pay for hiring bus and fueling). The money they scammed you ain't worth the sweat.
The Alternative method takes time and patience....you get another number you will have to do some small business with him first, cultivate a relationship and find some reason to meet in person. Remember don't rush it, you can be on it for more than 6 month

Google now removes reviews made by accounts that are less than 2 years.

As much as you want to teach him a lesson, don't spend more than you lost when you know you won't recoup the money.
In summary, let go but you can call him out so that people will beware of him. I don't know if FIJ offers free services.

But honestly your message to him wasn't polite one. What he said was right that you should greet first before proceeding with your complaints

If I were you I would go back to him to apologize, do as he said. Thereafter the two of you will find a solution to the problem.

Is soliciting for review not against Google terms of service?
Doing illegal dealings and calling efcc and DSS.
It's not about the money it's about what you want that's why they told you to forget it ooo.

Two wrong won't make a right.
If you paid him through a bank like opay or kuda just flag the transaction he will be the one to contact you.
If you use bank app I'm sure they have this feature.
Don't solicit reviews if you will not use a reputation service.

Simple, 2 wrongs don't make a right. You should have never solicited for reviews in the first place.

All the extra money you will now spend to deal with him is what the Bible calls "vanity upon vanity". You need to recognise that the real reason you are justifying this irrational behaviour is the mental ailment too many of us suffer in Nigeria, " main character syndrome".

Leave the petty thief to God, the real main character. Accepting this lesson will allow you to enjoy your peace in a country like ours.

I will suggest you reach out to him again.. I guess something valid kept him from doing your job and he could ve explained to him. But was pissed the way you addressed him.

You never can tell. He may even apologize if peace is made.

IT'S EVEN A CRIME TO PAY PEOPLE FOR GOOGLE REVIEWS.

Thanks to everyone who gave there opinion. I really appreciate.

More than 70% of people I explained the issue advised I leave the guy. I will let him be for now.

For people saying my dm was rude. It was not. That dm was a follow up after I messaged him that his reviews disappeared and he didn't care to explain to me what might be the issue. Even after messaging him, he ignored the message.

He is not the first person I have needed such service from. Others will explain what happened and beg you to calm down.

I deserve an explanation cuz I paid for it. You don't treat people like that bcuz u hide behind keyboard and feel nobody can get you.

I will leave him for now but not forever. I have a good plan for people like him

They knew. I explained everything to them. What I do is legal. It's more like a club.

You give them incentives to review your products but do not influence the review. As long as they are the ones writing there honest reviews, it's fine.

And it's not Google review

You better let this one go as more sensible people have said.

You deal was shady in the first place, that EFCC let you walk out of their offices is a testament to their good nature.

You have a business reputation to protect, if you harass him any further, he might report you to Google and then you and your business will be marked with suspicion for the whole world to see.

Let it go!
