It looks like the so-called “Monday sit-at-home” ritual that IPOB and their noise makers used to boast about has finally collapsed like a pack of cards. For years, they turned the South-East into ghost towns every Monday, scaring traders, students and workers away in the name of “solidarity.” Now that their self-appointed “Prime Minister of Biafra,” Simon Ekpa, has been thrown into a Finnish jail, the whole drama has fizzled out. No more empty street pictures on Nairaland , no more forced holidays – just normal life returning to the region. The truth is, people were tired of the madness long before now but they are cowards to challenge Ekpa, Businesses were dying, schools were suffering, and families were groaning under unnecessary hardship. Ekpa’s jail term only exposed how shallow the entire sit-at-home project was – one man shouting orders from abroad while ordinary Igbo people paid the price. With his voice silenced, peace and sanity are beginning to return. Monday has finally been freed.

The incarceration of the criminal is a long awaited relief for the SE,but the sentence is too short. The Finnish government should have given him 15 to 20 years. If it were in the US,the crook would have facing a long stay behind prison walls. |

It calls for serious introspection on the subject matter the sit-at-home. The Igbo were led by the nose. One outcome of the sit-at-home that pained me the most was the killing of Dr. Chike Akunyili who was himself an outstanding private medical doctor and husband of the former NAFDAC boss on the streets of the South-East. |

No..The approval of SEDC made the sit at home to stop. The boys doing the forced sit at home are eventually sidelined hence Gentle the Yahoo still operating. Kanu still incarcerated is also part of the success stopping of sit at home as those who used him are not interested in having him out |

Peacemaker5128:These ones are the ones who claim to be so concerned about those who can still sit in their homes But they are never concerned about the millions in IDP camps all over the country that can no longer sit in their homes due to banditry One of the many examples of the fraud known as "one Nigeria" |

Una don carry fake news again. All these guys that have never seen Niger bridge before. When was Ekpa jailed? Ekpa that was jailed just few days ago is what you are attributing to Monday sit at home that has died for years in most areas. |

Their update has casted ![]() If you want to get the attention of the average northerner, shout "jihad" or "prophet" If you want the attention of the average igbos, shout "Fuláni" You can fool some people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time... |

helinues:You see on this, you talked like a learned person and you’re correct with your assertions without peddling lies… if you continue like this, then maybe you’ll start thinking and talking objectively. South east problem of insecurity is caused by some bad eggs from ipob, some government officials within the states and some security agencies… they are working with a different ideology currently but still masquerading as ipob because they only want to gain the support of the people, that’s why they were obeying the sit at home every Monday from what I was told . To them they’re sacrificing for nnamdi Kanu release but the people don’t know that the movement and the current ideology are two different things… I pray south east doesn’t eventually turn out to be how my region is, every day I pray to Allah to bring peace to Nigeria, I can’t be happy here in a western country while Nigeria continues burning down. |

Peacemaker5128: Onyiiobi7735: Peterobiisathie: zoedew: helinues:So you wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is to lament to your Igbo gods like morning prayers, so someone will wake up 5am in the morning and the first thing he can think of and talk about is Igbo like they are your gods. Omo, if you are paid to do this I might cut you some slack because you are only working for your money, though in a dirty way but if your are not paid then you are mentally unstable(sorry to say). Maybe if you guys talk about insecurity and bad leadership in general happening all over the country the way you guys focus on Igbos and their matter, maybe just maybe the mentally unstable man you people enthroned in Aso rock will sit up and start doing his work... |

Peterobiisathie:Thats all you people like to talk about anyway. Even when 200 people were killed in Benue recently, you people didn't bother to talk about because you couldn't blame IPOB for it I think by now people know you guys only remember insecurity if IPOB can be mentioned |

Brendaniel:You grossly lack sound and proper home training to not know that when you wake up each day - asides of your quiet time with God - the other major thing you do is to find out what is happening in your world via news outlets such as Nairaland where you are privileged to have your say on the goings on. Chinua Achebe a prominent Igbo and a global literary icon had this to say about The Igbo, his kith and kin - "There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behaviour that can offend; by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness." Insulting others for expressing their simple opinion on issues is clearly one of such deplorable conduct. |

Peterobiisathie:Your comment is a macabre dance on the grave of Dr. Chike Akunyili. That will not justify the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili or any other citizen for that matter! What a response!! In the end it was a counter productive action to have killed him in such a dastardly manner. I hate to see in my mind's eyes his lifeless body in the open at that junction of the city in the South-East of Nigeria where his life was wasted!!!😭. His children deserve public sympathy. |
