My money is my money, His money is our money mentality. While I believe loans should be repaid especially when it is a tidy sum that was used as working capital. If it was used to buy something for the general wellbeing if the household, such should be a duty of both or either party. Not a loan. In this case, the 4k should be written off, but for accounting purposes, the man should state clearly that 4k out of it is to repay his debt. |

This is pure hatred. A wife that does this is in hatred with you and not in love with you. Haba. ![]() |

Caaz:That mentality is not good. It shows ungratefulness and entitlement mindset. I urgently needed 1k to give someone, I asked you and you gave it to me. That same evening, I decided to dash you 10k out of my freewill, you collected it, thanked me and yet still tried to remind me of my 1k debt. You too think am now ![]() |

Lol some people are not very intelligent so we have to manage them like that. For her mind, you were going to give her 300k regardless. So she’s seeing the 4k as an icing on the cake. It’s like you won a contract of 7m while waiting for your salary of 200k. You will still like to see them hit your account together as 7.2m. The 200k becomes like an icing on the cake. |

The woman didn't do anything wrong. She just asked for the money owed her. A gift cannot be used to cover a debt. |

Raregem9000:Then he should be the one you should be asking why he does all of that for his family. So, what did he tell you when you asked him why he chose to do all of that for his family? ![]() |

Kobojunkie:so is the husband paying his wife salary? How does that relate? |
| Re: Why Are Some Nigerian Women Like This? by BodePolScience: 4:01pm On Sep 04, 2025 |
ayusco85:From the original post, it's clear that it's a domestic/family or couple matter and NOT a formal or business matter. It's very unromantic for couples to be counting scores. I occasionally collects 2k or 3k from my wife for conveniency reasons and I do give her money in 10's of thousands to do things for herself far far more than the times I collect from her. So it will be an ungrateful act if she asked or reminded of some little money that I might have even forgotten. What she's saying is that she can't make any sacrifice or tolerate any loss but me the constant giver is free to keep giving her and tolerating loss. |

israelmao:You are not making any sense! You claimed there is a man out there that you know of who chooses —note this — to handle all of the labor as well as the responsibility to provide all by himself. And why not ask the man why he chooses— no gun to his head— to live like that rather than come here pretending your case is exactly that of the man's? ![]() |

paragon10:This is really straightforward. Your wife is not a source of free labor. She, too, has to eat of the dividends of the marriage, and in many cases(for people in the lower brackets), it is the husband's salary from which she deserves a share each month. ![]() |
