BodePolScience:
From the original post, it's clear that it's a domestic/family or couple matter and NOT a formal or business matter. It's very unromantic for couples to be counting scores. I occasionally collects 2k or 3k from my wife for conveniency reasons and I do give her money in 10's of thousands to do things for herself far far more than the times I collect from her. So it will be an ungrateful act if she asked or reminded of some little money that I might have even forgotten. What she's saying is that she can't make any sacrifice or tolerate any loss but me the constant giver is free to keep giving her and tolerating loss.
It's not that serious. If you want her to dash you don't use the word borrow. If u borrowed from her try and pay her, let it be on record. If u don't want to use the word borrow find a more befitting word to use to collect some small money from her then. It's all about effective communication

I will simply ask her to take the 4k from the 100k upkeep money, so her upkeep is now 96k

Thank you very much for this! 😊

1. Wrong!

➜ The money is listed as money meant for her upkeep, and it came from money earned by her husband from his salary during the marriage. It is hers, not a gift. A gift would maybe come from money that the man had before the marriage, which is typically kept separate account from the account from which marriage-related expenses should come. undecided

Also, if my boss gives me my salary at the end of the week or month and adds that I should buy anything I like with it, it does not change anything of the fact that that money is what is due to me, does it? undecided

2. Yes! Marriage has always been a business agreement between a man and a woman. undecided

3. Aren't you assuming the woman had absolutely no savings at all when she came into the marriage? undecided
So marriage is a business agreement where one party splits his wages and the other party keeps hers. Smh

You are not making any sense! The other party keeps hers, how? undecided

The same reason why a guy will borrow and refuse to repay. It's not a gender thing; it's greed. Let's not fight the gender fight abeg. It weakens me.

Or on a second thought, she might just want to know if the man included the money in the amount given or she's just trying to remind him, cos he may have forgotten...

It goes both ways.

I saw this and decided to share it here. Why are our women like this.

Guys what would you do in this situation if you are the one?
Failed generalization

So if I'm owing you 4k and I give you 100k you'll still expect me to pay you the 4k am owing you ba. Very well I will collect back my 100k and give you your 4k.
You think you're wise?

Best response is

Oh , I remember, withdraw 100000 for the house , #90000 for yourself, and #4000 that I owed you. total, #194,000

This argument go far o, you are technically saying that if he comes home from work he can sit in front of the TV and cross his legs. The home front service is fully paid for. Through out the year.

Kobojunkie:
Maybe it is because you have never really considered marriage for what it really is, an agreement between two individuals...a partnership where responsibilities as well as dividends are meant to be shared. undecided

The allowance a man gets from his monthly salary== made possible by his wife taking care of all domestic aspects of his relationship -- is not dash money; the allowance a wife gets from that same salary is also not dash money. undecided

The way women dey reason na why e go hard dem to marry these days. It takes a level of blindness, ignorance and mvmvness to marry these women. I can't afford all that so I rather remain single.

In my own opinion, the man was overrun of emotion not being logic. so the wife find it appealing to dwell on.

As a man be logic dont be drive by your emotion.

Paid the 4k loan. Give her extra from the #100k, you desire.

Every monetary marital debt has to be paid, nature itself is in support.
So blame the deptor, not the collector.
yeah I like and support that to,
Ok I forgot to pay my dept, take your 4k and the dash can come some other time since I plan to give you 10k and it's not up to that again

This irritating habit they have just keeps me wondering what if the lady is also working, do we have to share her salary too?
Since I’m the only one that has to pay, why isn’t she paying me also?

Cos I know some men that help in the house and get nothing in return. Let everyone declare their bank statements so we can all share the money since marriage is an agreement.

Don't marry and feed homeless women , they are never bellyfull, they eat till they start taking slim down tea or call their rat family to join in eating your corpse after your money is finished, no native doctor or medicine man has the cure to self poisoning!

First of all, point to where I stated exactly what you claim there, so I can at least understand what point you are trying to make. 🥱🥱🥱

Stop spinning the narratives...the question here is....you dey owe abii you nor dey owe?

Maybe we should liken this same narrative with that girl that collected 40k from emmanuel, and failed to show up,prompting emmanuel to seek for legal redress
And she ending up paying 400k to emmanuel.
