Popular Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has landed in the hospital following a wave of online trolling that erupted after her clash with veteran actor and director, Afeez Owo.

The controversy began after Afeez Owo, husband of actress Mide Martins, shared his thoughts on one of Wumi’s movie roles during an interview. Dissatisfied with his remarks, Wumi openly called him out — a move that quickly triggered heated reactions across social media. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Many netizens sided with Afeez, insisting his critique was fair, while Wumi faced a barrage of online attacks.

On Thursday morning, the actress confirmed that the backlash had affected her health as she posted a photo of herself from a hospital bed.

In her caption, she wrote:
“Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”

She later expressed regret over her response to Afeez Owo, assuring fans she would handle things differently in the future.

“I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery,” she added.

The incident has since sparked wider conversations about the toll of cyberbullying and online pressure on Nigerian celebrities
