With the way the economy is these days, every Uni student in Nigeria ought to start a business on campus. Students should do this to make some money to supplement or add to what your parents send to you. What do you think?

It was my little typing and printing business that saved me during my undergraduate studies to the extent that my parents doubted if I was in school because I didn't disturb them for money, including school fees. I am currently into Farm Management and general Agricultural Services. |

osuofia2:Do you even understand what commerce means? Will everyone sell the same thing? Won’t the student running a barbing shop need to eat in a restaurant run by another student? Ekosodin behind UNIBEN is a large commercial center and many of the businesses there are owned by students. That’s what OP is talking about. |

The very reason why Nigerians don’t actually develop entrepreneurs is that they always talk about business and therefore become talkpreneurs (motivational speakers) People who talk much about business don’t have the knowledge and time to do the business While People who do the business don’t have the time and skill to talk about the business. Nigerians are the former! 😅 |

Omoh, I wrote projects for people. That's good money. In my time I wrote for 15k. Now I learnt it's like 70k for undergraduates. If you're good and can handle like 5-10 students, that's good income for every session. Top it with printing and photocopy. Running of errands, cleaning services, POS, barbing and making of hairs at student price. If you get sewing machine, carry am go school sew at lesser price. So many things people around me made money with. |

It’s very good to have an extra work to support your education as a student. It’s done in other developed countries. That being said, buying and selling will only worsen the bad economy. In this other climes, most of the working students are hardly into buying and selling. The school maps out working hours for them in normal production and service industries. Heck, most of the universities employ over 5% of their students in their various sectors of the school. China for example has most of their engineering students work in their school workshops where they build or fabricate goods for export and the students are well paid for it. So instead of turning our schools to a nuisance in the name of buying and selling, empower faculties to be mini factories and production lines where students will learn and work and earn money at the same time. |

Shebe Peter Obi did it while he was in unn nnsuka, so tay he built a building around the campus a bank then occupied, few week ago he explained all this while talking of how he started business, instead of him to be appreciated, didn't reno, adeyanju and the rest of those apc misfits including charlatans on this forum not attack him? Today this post is advocating for students to start a business. Anyway, your parents sent you to school to study not to trade. Trading will be a distraction. |

mubarak89:So you want to finish them kpata kpata. Nigeria is a hard place to start a business now as a student. Don't get me wrong Smart business ideas needs good funding and a strong backbone and support and believe me greater percentage of Nigerian students don't have that. Look round you and check the kind of business Nigerian student can do and how it favors them eg. Salon Photocopy center Sharwama Dry cleaning Bros, they are all running in a loss cos of over taxing and lack of electricity |

If you can start a business and do well then focus on that and 'pause' school. That's what Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg did. People tend to perform best when all their attention is devoted to one area. |

If every university student started a business, who would work for each other or do the employer's jobs? We have to differentiate entreprenur capability and leadership capabilities |

Good advice, though. But if you can’t manage your study time alongside extra activities, you’d better think twice o. Your studies always remain your number one priority. |
