Jamesclooney:Broken focus, the government lost it when it was trying to fight too many battles at the same time. Sometimes it pays to just stick to your party ideology and close your ears to things that oppose that ideology. No matter what you do, folks are not going to agree with everything you offer. Starmer joining politics late has come to bite him in the end. The job of a PM is never an entry-level role. As for immigrants, the die is cast. The reason why some of us are advocates of alternate plans, no hiding place, whatever we're being served, we've got to accept or deal with it. So many casualties already, so no surprises ahead. |

Nice and insightful, been following this with keen interest. 1. Can I please ask where the initial funding for the registered would come from? 2. Can the business owner pre-fund the company from their private savings until it starts making profit? 3. How much would be ideal to pre-fund? Thank you for your response in advance 🙌🏾🙏🏾 brine: |

Fred2020:Hehehe. Manufacturing was supposed to be where the majic would happen. If his moves doesn't turn things around there then I wonder what'd happen in the service sector. Farage has hung around too much that it may be worth seeing what he'd offer too. Somethings are best experienced |

Goke7:He chased the wrong cohort though I believe he underestimated the issues around boat crossings. 'Smash the gangs' was never a sensible idea. My other issue is that recent happenings has emboldened every riff-raff to the point where overt racial abuse is becoming commonplace |

jedisco:It’s a foretaste of what is still in the offing when Reform gets into Downing Street though the blow back will eventually regulate it. The current template in the US is what has actually emboldened every thing, will be interesting to see how the midterms elections go next year to see whether things can still go in the reverse if not then we are in it finally for the long ride. |

Goke7:And we should all prepare for the gaslighting about how whatever is happening is not racist; and even if it is, it’s because of “underlying causes”, from those that can’t see racism being faced by others but can hallucinate gender discrimination from thin air when it concerns them. |

Goke7:Cynical part of me wants Reform to win the next GE and start deporting illegal immigrants and stop the boat, close all asylum centres and stop all foreign aids What is happening in America right now will be nothing compare to what this country will experience, demonstrations and unrest will be a daily thing, many work-shy and benefit scroungers will have nothing else to moan about. This need to happen before this country wake up to the danger of Reform political party. |

justwise:Exactly! It is almost inevitable at this point. Though sadly it will cause a lot of damage, it is necessary for those populists to have a brain reset. It is a case of things first going awry, just so necessary lessons are learnt before they finally get back to normal. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:02pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
Goodenoch:💯 It's already happening - for example the left is very upset with the PM and fmr Home Sec for not condemning the wide spread hotel protests and St George's/Union Flag standoffs, with some of their comments even sounding sympathetic to the concerns of the protesters/flaggers. Quoting one publication, KEIR Starmer’s “legitimising” of far-right protests outside of hotels housing asylum seekers has been described as “shameful and beyond reckless” No condemnation of "racist, far right thuggery", unlike his response to last year's protests...another personality U-turn perhaps. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Goke7: 12:14pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
justwise:The problem with the uk is that so many of their citizens too live in many countries and there is a limit to how far they can go in suppressing foreigners for example the echr also protects Brits living in European countries, the uk also live off so much goodwill from so many countries so suspending foreign aids totally is not that simple. Even America that’s the largest economy is already beginning to catch cold with the collaboration among India, Russia and China going by Trump statements lately so who is Uk to go all the way, hmmm e go hard o! no be cho cho cho! |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:26pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
justwise:It's beyond the boats issue though. The one gimmick Farage is very good at, like Trump, is recognising, giving voice to and exploiting the grievances of the silent majority. Farage knows that people are angry about issues such as immigration, stealth tax rises squeezing the middle class, crime levels e.g. shoplifting, overflowing prisons, lack of housing, "two tier" justice, "wokeism", loss of freedom of speech, public services etc etc Blair was also very good at connecting with the people and addressing their concerns, but unfortunately thus far, this Labour seems out of touch with all sides and that's why they are bleeding support - they don't appear to be pleasing anyone. There's still time and hope to stave off Reform, but Labour needs to learn from the mistake of the Democrats - stop playing ad hominem, come out of your echo chamber and start delivering TANGIBLE policies that will improve lives. People want to see real change, not more long-dated promises. |

LionInZion:Something need to happen before this country learn a very valuable lesson about immigration and politicians using their citizens as pawns. Reform will bring us to that realisation. It will also be a test of legal system in this country. |

Goke7:You are thinking ahead reasonably but these politicians have a brain of a fingernail, Farage wants to be in no 10 desperately, so he will continue saying all sorts nonsense to get there. He doesn’t care what happens afterwards. |

Zahra29:Labour or the Democratic did not wrong, Americans listened to a convicted criminal lie to them repeatedly, they hated the fact that a woman from the ethnic minority was about to make a history by becoming a president of the united state of America. They voted with their racist mind and now the results are out. The UK will learn the same lesson pretty soon when they make the same mistake. Farage has no right to fight for freedom of speech.. ask Femi a Nigerian journalist based here and he will tell you more. He was banned from all Reform events , sometime at the last minute even as he has press credentials to attend the event. Housing problems got nothing to do with immigrants, white British shoplift far more than immigrants. We will all be alive to witness the damage Reform will do to this country. |

justwise:Well said, the Latinos in particular were the ones who made Trump win and funny enough they are the ones bearing the brunt now with the mass deportation spree. 😂 Despite Trump and his gang raining racial abuses on them during the campaign they thought they were being smart in avoiding another black president. Now some republican states are redistricting their congressional maps to ensure Latino votes are more suppressed for future elections. The so called proponents of freedom of speech are always the most intolerant people you can ever find anywhere on this earth. Their own speech is what they protect not others. |

justwise:What the Dems did wrong was to focus almost entirely on attacking Trump's character, instead of addressing the real issues people were angry/worried about such as the economy and the Mexican border. They failed to bring forward reasonable policies or answer the valid question of what Kamala would do differently to solve the issues, given she had already been VP for 4 years. I know Femi Oluwole and I supported him during his very vocal campaigning during Brexit. The point I was making is that people are being drawn to Reform not only because of the small boats issue - people are also frustrated about e.g. high taxes (more tax rises coming in November) without seeing where their money is going, they feel like nothing is working, no growth, minimal productivity....and while this isn't Labour's fault as they inherited the rot in the system, - however they promised CHANGE! - and 14 months later, people are struggling to see any Labour improvements. For example the recent 30 hr childcare expansion is very positive and will be a big help for working families, but this was a Tory policy!! Would Starmer's Labour have introduced this policy on their own? I don't think so. If they don't stop tinkering and actually start delivering bold, impactful changes (quick wins at least, not everything has to wait till 2028) then people will look for an alternative - whether that is Reform, Libdems or Greens/Your Party. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 8:27pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
Zahra29:Totally not true, Kamala did many times, she was the only one with actual policy and was able to explain them, Trump did not present any policy apart from immigration, there was nothing on economy or foreign policy. Even as Republican controls the two houses Bidden was able to pass a major legislation called American Rescue Plan. Reform has taken a page from Trump's play book and trying desperately to implement it here in the UK and many British public are buying it. Remember Lucy connolly? Yes she is now a Reform party member immediately after coming out of prison. she called for “mass deportation now”, adding: “Set fire to all the f***ing hotels full of the b*****s for all I care… if that makes me racist so be it. and now she is welcome to Reform political party. |

justwise:There was even a bipartisan policy on immigration agreed by both parties during Biden term, it was Trump who rallied republicans in the house to finally reject the bill cos of his political campaign. All the talk that they had no policy was just gaslighting. Till today no one knows the economic direction of the current administration, farmers are already asking for bail outs due to the tariffs policy that’s heading no where. Americans were simply manipulated by culture wars effectively deployed by MAGA which is what is currently happening in the uk. They will hide behind nationalism, religion (people who don’t even have an idea or don’t want to know who God is) and other conservative values and traditions they don’t even practice or believe in to deceive many whereas they are one of the most morally bankrupt humans you can think of. Anyone who doesn’t mind setting up an hotel on fire where humans are can never be an advocate for a better society. Kolewerk. That’s why America now has a health minister who no longer wants vaccinations for children to be made compulsory. And if that’s where uk is headed then good luck! |

justwise:This I completely agree with. The real mystery is how Labour can have a 150 seat majority - the largest since Blair - and just 1 year from the GE, they are trailing behind Reform, a fringe party, in the polls. It's bananas and completely unprecedented. Like I said earlier, there's still time and hope, but Labour really need to get their act together fast - they won't really be able to blame anyone else but themselves if they lose the next GE. |

Goke7:Let's see how the U.S trends. If they don't manage to get good concessions off the BRICS powerhouse moreso with European support weighning, the next 6-18m would be an interesting period for his base. Barring unforseen events, it seems only a major American economic catastrophe can stop the spreading far-right narrative especially in the UK. Good thing is that unlike the U.S, the UK political system has good and immediate checks and balances- even too much. Interesting times.. |

Goodenoch:Hehe... irrespective of the sugarcoating, the underlying drivers are well known Have you wondered how Eastern European migrants who were vilified pre-Brexit have all a a sudden become the model migrants? Reminds me of an Australian anti-immigration rally I saw recently. One Chinese and Indian bloke who joined them perhaps to show how much they are different from their people were quickly manhandled and shoved off. It's ultimately racism in balaclavas |
