Lauretta Onochie, former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and a prominent figure in the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has an assured victory in the 2027 general election.

Onochie’s response, issued via her verified Facebook page on Sunday, September 7, 2025, was a rebuttal to claims in public discourse that the 2027 election outcome is already predetermined.

She described such claims as mere psychological warfare aimed at discouraging citizens from active participation in the democratic process.

“There’s a rumour in Nigeria being peddled by those who were once progressives but now celebrate impunity and lawlessness. They are bragging that INEC will rig the 2027 presidential election for President Tinubu. Dem no fit!” Onochie declared.

She further asserted: “There will be a new President in May 2027. Votes will count in 2027, just as they did in 2015. It’s nothing but psychological warfare aimed at discouraging Nigerians from active participation in our democracy. We will give them a run for their money.”

Onochie, who once served as Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and was one of Buhari’s most visible media aides, maintained that the opposition remains committed to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections in 2027.

It’s a national consensus at this point.

That’s why all their desperate attempts to guilt-trip Nigerians with “let the South finish eight years” or “it’s south turn” are dead on arrival. Even they know it won’t fly.

And Tinubu, of all people, has zero moral ground to preach “southern turn.” This is the same man who teamed up with his fellow désperados, power grabbing buccaneers to sabotage Goodluck Jonathan a fellow southerner and cut short the South’s chance at an uninterrupted eight years in power. You can’t destroy a bridge and then complain you can’t cross it.

Nature, karma, and the consequences of failed leadership have all aligned Tinubu will be a one-term president.

He’s earned it. It's his own making.

No president in our history has inflicted this level of hunger, suffering, confusion, and deceit on the people all in the name of bogus “economic reforms.” It’s been propaganda in place of policy, and poverty in place of progress.

History will remember. Nigerians already do.

Inec should be ashamed being mentioned in the same line as rigging almost 80% of the time. Their reputation has been damaged so much that their abnormality is now normal. They don't just need total overhaul of their structure but also a change of name

If we Nigerians keep quiet like we did in 2023, they will rig it and nothing will happen as usual. It's time Nigeria enforce the use of digital voting process like other countries. There wouldn't be need for collection centers, bcs all the result will be sent to the central server ones anybody votes. Minus that, we will continue to cry and lament again bad leadership

The Presidential Elections in any election cycle world-over is the most difficult to manipulate and rig.

PBAT unfortunately knows this fact ! To rig at that scale you will need to recruit additional 20m uniformed personnel to match the large estimated population of over 190m Nigerians.

The reasons why the Gubernatorial Elections & off-cycle elections are easily manipulated is as a result of the deployment of heavy detachments of security personnel in those areas.

A BBC exposire on the Rivers Presidential Election result in 2023 will leave you struck to the marrow.

2027 is already alleged to be infiltrated by the ruling party and Nigerians in the majority are eager for the minority priviledged few to take them for granted.
