Okay, I have one question. I changed my screen recently because the old one got broke. However, I noticed the tap to wake doesn't work anymore just the tap to sleep. If I tap on the screen twice it doesn't wake but it sleeps. What could be the cause? |

Mikefrik:good morning Mikefrik, there are several reasons for this.. 1. screen is not fully compatible with your phone's original hardware and software, this usually happens with cheaper after market screen.(this is the most common reason. 2. the screen was not properly fixed by the technician. now i am not sayin this is the reason. but we cant rule it out. several mistakes could be made, say the screen flex was not properly fixed, say the proximity sensor was covered by the gum they used to fix the screen 3. the proximity sensor covered with the gum: Notice that the double tap to sleep is working while the double tap to wake is the problem. this is actually giving us a que to what is really going on. the proximity sensor usually work with the double tap function to protect your phone from accidental touch. say your phone is in your pocket, the proximity sensor is activated and it disable the calibrator of the screen while being in your pocket and when you remove it from your pocket the proximity sensor enables the calibrator. now this could be the problem of your screen. the proximity sensor is probably covered with gum, making your phone assume its in your pocket and thus, double tap to wake will not work. you can contact me on whatsapp(09058743276). if you want further advice on what to do |

Thephonetechnic:Thephonetechnic from Nairaland: "what to do when your phone falls in water. dont panic just follow these steps What to Do If Your Phone Falls Into Water The truth is, accidents happen. You might wake up one day and discover a crack on your phone screen, a faulty charging port, or worst of all water damage. Out of all the issues that can affect your phone, water damage is the most dangerous. Why? Because water is a liquid. It can seep into tiny openings, spread through your device, and cause serious damage. As a technician, I can tell you that water-damaged phones are some of the hardest cases we deal with. In many situations, water damage can completely ruin your phone and even cause you to lose precious files and photos. The good news is that if you act quickly, you can improve the chances of saving your phone. Here are the essential steps you should follow if your phone ever falls into water: Step 1: Quickly Remove the Phone from Water The faster you act, the higher your chances of saving the phone. Keep in mind: some phones are water-resistant (not waterproof). This means they can survive light splashes or short periods in water. However, once a phone has been repaired before, its water-resistance may no longer be intact. So act fast pull the phone out immediately. Step 2: Turn Off the Phone Immediately Even if it looks fine, do not try to use it. Don’t press buttons, don’t pick calls, and above all, never try to plug it into a charger. Switch it off completely and leave it off. Step 3: Remove the Case and Accessories Take off the protective case or pouch. Remove the SIM card, memory card, SIM tray, and any other accessories or peripherals connected to the phone. Step 4: Dry the Surface Gently Use a clean cloth or towel to dab (not rub) the phone. Rubbing can push water further into the phone. The goal is to absorb as much surface moisture as possible without spreading it. Step 5: Place the Phone in Silica Gel Silica gel packets (the small sachets you find inside bags, shoes, or electronics packaging) are excellent for absorbing moisture. Place your phone in a zip-lock bag filled with silica gel and leave it sealed for about 48 hours. ⚠ Many people recommend using rice, but this is not effective and can even cause more harm by leaving dust or particles inside your phone. If you don’t have silica gel, place the phone in a cool, dry place. Do not sun-dry it. Heat can damage sensitive components inside the phone. Step 6: Power On After 48 Hours After waiting at least two days, try turning the phone back on. If it powers on and works normally congratulations, you may have saved it. If it doesn’t turn on or some features are faulty, take it to a professional repair technician for proper servicing. Important Things NOT to Do ❌ Do not heat your phone with a dryer or in the sun. ❌ Do not blow air into it (this only pushes water deeper). ❌ Do not shake the phone aggressively. By following these steps, you’ll give your phone the best chance of survival after a water accident. 👉 Follow me for more practical tips on phone and laptop care!" https://www.nairaland.com/8516097/repair-room-stories-lessons-phone#136749408
