You have a child that’s both 1 and 5 years old?

Have you been able to apply for a masters program that’s at least 16 months in length? I went through your profile and I’m wondering why you didn’t mention you were married with child(ren).

If you lucky you can get it within 4 weeks

The student advisor just been honest!
Why issue LOA when you''ll need PAL for study permit application.
You'll have to wait for 2026 PAL allocations to issue LOA .
Even if you pay it's useless.
PAL allocations for 2026 will be by January 2026,just a thought.
Please may I also state that her PAL was also approved.

Hello everyone.
I have my LOA and PAL and have paid my first semester tuition fee which is almost $10k and I'm almost ready to apply for my study permit. The program is starting in Jan and ends Aug 2026 which is approximately 8months. My major concerned is about the proof of fund. My elder brother who based in the US is my sponsor and will provide every necessary documents for it but the money won't be transferred to my account till I enter Canada. Please will this be a problem? I'm really worried and need a candid advice from gurus in the house. Thank you

Not guru. Submit the below for your brother to the Proof of Funds section.

1. Sponsor letter of support
2. Affidavit of Support
3. Bank Accounts showing your tution balance, living expenses, and more to show your brother can fully cover your cost without breaking himself financially.
4. Letter of employment or reference letter from employer and payslips
5. Birth certificates (your brother and yourself) to show you have the same parents.
6. Tution deposit receipt
7. Applicant bank account showing previous support or transfer from sponsor.

Note that IRCC brought up a rule about full tuition payment recently. It might be best for your brother to do this and just mention he will provide your living expenses from his Savings and income.

Note that 8 months is a bad idea as it will normally give you 1 year work permit or less. Right now, some people have not gotten their PR and their 3 years work permit is almost ending. Both provincial nomination and express entry invitation are very hard to get these days due to high point requirements. Be prepared to probably do an additional 8 month or 1 year program to get 3 years work permit to give you a shot at PR after study if that is what you require.

All the best.

IRCC prefers recognizable banks like First Bank, GTB, and the rest. They have denied Microfinance and others in the past.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 4:42am On Sep 12, 2025
It depends on the type of sponsorship and the ability to demonstrate reliable sources of income. For example, if you have no sponsor, you must show funds for the tuition fees and living expenses for the 2 years. Alternatively, you can show funds for one year and a reliable source that can generate funds in your absence for the subsequent year. On the other hand, if you are using a sponsor, you can show just the cost of education for one year, regardless of the duration of your studies.

Funds for 1 year = Tuition fee/year + living expense (22,895)/yr + cost of flight

All the best.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 4:45am On Sep 12, 2025
The application process for your wife depends on your program or level of education. Only selected bachelor's program students can apply for an open work permit for their spouse, whereas PhDs and MScs of at least 16 months in duration can apply for an open work permit for their spouse.

You can apply for a visitor visa for your spouse if you do not meet the above criteria.

Your child is eligible for a study permit regardless of the program or level of education.

Affidavits have little bearing when it comes to home tie. Employment, family members, letters from social, cultural, or religious organizations stating you are an active member, and proof of ownership of landed properties are some of the things you need to demonstrate a strong tie in your home country.

Yes. However, your spouse will be ineligible for a spousal open work permit while you are studying, if you are married. Please let me know if you need assistance securing a 1-year master's program.

Focus on demonstrating the relationship and that he has been supporting you before. Birth certificates, family photos, a sponsorship letter and receipts of previous transfer should suffice. Also, focus on home ties, as VO will assess that aspect, given that the sponsor is outside your home country.

Yes, this might be a problem for you. The VO concern might be, what if your sponsor money ceases? How do you intend to support yourself? It's best you have all the funds available in your account, or the major funds should be in your account.

If you have the money and you’re pursuing a course that aligns with your current qualifications, then yes — why not.

It’s a natural trajectory. Money is the main factor.

But life after school in Canada is different: permanent residency isn’t guaranteed.

Nothing is certain, so take your time and weigh the pros and cons

I can’t believe the Mod gave me a one-month temporary ban. Me, that only shares information with links from government or credible websites—it can only be the handwork of BadAdvisor

anyways to answer your question

Spouses/common-law partners of international students are eligible for an open work permit IF the student (your partner) is enrolled in one of:
(1) A master’s program that is 16 months or longer.
(2) A doctoral program.
(3) A select professional / eligible program at a university. Examples include : dental surgery (DDS, DMD), law (LLB, JD, BCL), medicine (MD), pharmacy, optometry, veterinary medicine, nursing (certain degrees), engineering, etc
