I think its according to how the Spirit of God leads. We are human, we still have the flesh, we get easily tired. For me, 30 minutes is enough grin

But i noticed that sometimes my Spirit is so happy to hear the word of God and and i can sit down and listen to a 3hour sermon especially on youtube. Its because i can see i am gaining understanding and I enjoy gaining faith and hope.

I think i have listened to a 5 hours sermon on youtube, revelations were donwloaded. All thanks to God, because in my human flesh 30 minutes is enough cheesy

I understood a lot, from listening to Bible teachers on youtube, And i can pause the video and come back later to continue.

20 to 30 minutes is enough. It's not how lengthy the sermon is that matters but the messages conveyed.

There are some very dull sermon when the preacher is speaking within 10 minutes i feel sleepy, because, the words they say are not even very audible, and sometimes they just want to ramble and say random and generic things, makes it very dull. Because they just want to do their sermon and go.

But then there are sermons that i just want to keep hearing, not just because they say repent, but they reveal the bible and make me understand it more. And i begin to appreciate God and even understand the bible in a way i never knew.

On average, a sermon should be about 45 minutes.

However, if the the sermon is anointed and Holy Spirit filled, the congregant will deeply appreciate it no matter how long.

I hate it when a speaker says "in conclusion..." and never actually concludes after 1 hour. It is deception.

And some of you can comfortably sit and watch Netflix for 4 hours, tik tok for two hours and big brother naija for 5 hours.

Time management is very key in church administration and I think that the sermon should not exceed 40 minutes. The entire service time per service should not exceed 1hr 30 minutes. The church can start a secound service after this time.

This is one of the ideas you people infer that may make christianity a bit unattractive or boring to outsiders. Most preachers who take so much time are usually self glorifying story tellers or dilly dallying.

If you focus on the word 1 hour is enough. The goal is to continually feed the mind with the word. As a preacher you dont do too much in one day. If not, most of the other days would be empty you won't have much to say

The idea isn't to keep people in church, its about the impact of the message. Also you have to consider attention span, their other engagements. People will more likely recall or resonate with a short sermon than a long one.

By homiletical standard,a normal sermons shouldn't go beyond 25-35mins if there is interpretation 45-50mins.

Anything beyond that you lose your audience. A preacher can't doze off while preaching because he is engaged with something unlike the audience who seat down.

Is that the reason we should spend four hours listening to a message.
By the way I am a preacher so when I said one hour you don't need to hours to impact lives. When you don't prayerfully prepared that is when you come and be giving long stories.
Except special case that when it could exceed one hour otherwise you can do a lot in an hour.
We spend more than 4 hours in church today. They must be reason to spend such time in church.

You can always divide your messages into parts and take the following part next Sunday...Quality over quantity

In this age of microwave christainity we are , people can't spend 3-4hours in church on a Sunday , they begin to grumble.

They want everything fiamfiam, praise worship, even Sunday school, everything microwave style , God help us oo.
