This post is soaked in neoliberal lies and misleading narratives that these guys have sold for decades

The reason why these rich prixks can leave the country in the first place is because the laws permit them to.

Draconian laws implemented WILL TRAP them here China style.
That's what this country needs right now but are not ready

The rich of every country OWE that country a sense of responsibility and this new age narratives of not wanting to pay tax is crazy
please educate me on what you think is the truth. no ideology is perfect. but when every time the problem is one particular class is the problem.

your draconian laws cannot work here, now China is the standard? Besides there is a level of capitalism in China and they do this to keep the capital in country rather than chase them out. it is the industries that drive the Chinese economy and they heavily subsidize industry not stifle it with taxes. take energy for example, we had the windfall tax on oil and gas, industry that supports 10s of thousands of jobs and created GB energy. the companies are not investing in the UK and that is risking lots of jobs have been lost and lots still at risk, potential tax revenue for the govt and keeping people employed and out of the benefit system. What does GB energy do - their first major initiative solar panels on schools and govt buildings, where did they source the panels from - China - £200 million. We have manufacturers here in the UK and where is the money sent.

All the taxes rises that this govt has implemented has been counterproductive, tax takes has reduced - Stamp duty threshold reduced, FTB have to save a lot more to get on the property market because they have to pay the tax. Landlords will buy houses but who will offset the cost - tenants. Besides tax takes on stamp duty has reduced, counterproductive is it? the economy grows by 0.1% MoM/YoY every time but inflation is ~4.2% they say. The economy grows not because we have more money to spend but we are paying more for less.

What the country needs is people who have capital and are willing to invest not being stifled with taxes on everything.

The chancellor in my opinion would have done a better job if she did not do anything at all.

The Uk needs urgent tax reform to reflect a more fairer society where everyone pays their fair share and Brexit ought to have triggered this as a huge chunk of revenue source plummeted. It’s as if there was no concrete post Brexit economic framework to come to terms of reality exiting the EU. It was like once we leave the EU we will have more money for ourselves after deceiving people that it was their money that was funding the EU but alas yawa don gas and everyone has to bear their papa name. The politicians are so lost as to which way forward and approach that won’t further annoy the people after lying to them about an Eldorado post Brexit that was never there in the first place. The convenient thing now is to continue to divert the attention of the people to put the blame where it’s not and hang on or grab power wherever, whenever and however.
I agree. As Brexit don be, no need to look back but look forward and try to make the best of what we got.

The current tax system in the UK gives TOO MANY LOOPHOLES for "non dorms" and thats the truth even you know

Its the high earners and the lower /middle class that has borne the higher incidence of taxes over the last 15 years

A total cancellation of the non dorm concept COULD be a good start

Fine, agreed there are certain loop holes that should be closed.

I'll second that. Apart from the general govt confidence in the resource-related inequality of arms in its favour in litigation (in particular by exhausting all avenues and its litigants by taking cases all the way to higher instances where litigants cant afford to follow), two departments that rarely shy away from going to court are the Home Office and the DWP. Specifically because their opponents in court are usually people for whom the public is likely to have little or no sympathy (benefits claimants and migrants).
Why is Pastor Tobi beating Home Office at their game? He has been illegal in the country since 2005 or so

Another one bites the dust.

It was on this platform I wrote last year.
Labour Party UK 🇬🇧 is the same as 2015 Nigeria 🇳🇬 APC.

So much talk. No substance. Clueless.

Less than 22 hours ago, a PM stands at the dispatch box a 5 times reiterated he has confidence in the man.

Says a lot about the ‘process’ in Mr Keir’s world.

Lagosians?
I wish the issue was only restricted to ‘Lagosians’.
Whereas Lagos has its issues, the Lagos state House of Assembly could have Osawe, Osaze, Isibhakhomen, Olusola (from Ekiti) or Adewale (from Oșògbò) as members of state parliament.
Can you say the same thing in Edo, Delta, Imo, Plateau or Kebbi states?

Even those who are citizens (read: Indigenes), have different rights from Indigenes.

I think that needs to change about Nigeria.
Lagos is a former capital of Nigeria, the wealth of Lagos is the sweat of all Nigerians. Lagos already has early mover's advantage, it cannot be compared to any other state in Nigeria including the FCT.

I guess you want to start the argument right. Is calabaster not a former capital?

Abuja is the current capital, how many council chairmen have you seen that is from South? From Abaji to Kuje, to Gwagwalada, from Bwari to Kwali etc. It is this Lagos sha. Tyring to link every argument to Lagos

God bless you all.
If you are a Christian go to the Redeemed church along Beverley Road in Hull. Lots of Nigerians there that will help you with work and accommodation.

Read what you wrote again, comparing Calabar and Abuja to Lagos? How is that even possible? Apart from the fact that Lagos was developed by all Nigerians during the best years of the country (economic boom), facilities in other regions especially seaports in the South South have been deliberately not developed so as to concentrate economic activities in Lagos and force it to remain Nigeria's economic nerve centre. On top of all these, Lagos indigenes are also beginning to (falsely) think that the economic development of Lagos is as a result of their own efforts only - so far from the truth! Lagosians must know that other tribes in Lagos must be respected as partners in development, and without them Lagos won't be what it is today. We dare the federal government to develop the ports in the South South and see if Lagos won't be emptied... I thought all non Yoruba streets in Lagos would have been renamed by now, some greedy ones have eyes set on Ozumba Mbadiwe road, they should rename it quickly before their lord Tinubu leaves office. And what's CALABASTER please?? Looks like a mistake but I can't put such corruption of City names beyond you guys.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by elengine: 7:21am On Sep 15, 2025
Really. I can clearly see your line of thoughts. The seaport in South south is deliberately not developed to keep Lagos developing. Wow. This appears like the usual beer parlour talks and I never imagined we could go this low on this platform. Haaa. So who are the people behind this conspiracy of failure to develop seaport in south south. Is it all the former military head of states, including Aguiyi Ironsi, Babangida, Obasanjo etc? Or should we point finger to elected presidents like Jonathan who is obviously from south south? The above sentiment is not based on any fact but a mere fallacy that is influenced by too much alcohol.

Secondly, there is nothing like we all develop a place. Lagos was merely a stench and dustbin after federal capital was relocated to Abuja. There are vidoe clips that evidence this claim. It is normal for people to pay tax while carrying out their day to day work in a place, just like we do here in the youkay. And we won't say we all develop UK. You have only performed your civil duty as a residents but you guys keep sounding like you donated money to develop Lagos. While your governors are busy spending money on what is not necessary, Lagos is spending its money on infrastructure with some level of consistency in governance. Is it you that advised Tinubu to rethink revenue generation? Were you the one that developed blue print they have been following since 1999? Tomorrow now, you will say the fastest train Lagos is as a result of being a former capital 😀 Normally I should not engage in this kind of conversation but I can't just help. I'm sure people like you do not even know that where we call Lagos today is not the same Lagos of federal capital. Only about 40% of today's Lagos was the federal capital. Lagos has always been at advantaged position because of its nearness to water and strategic location. We have always had everything first in Lagos and even before almagation in 1914, Lagos had already witnessed development and there are impeccable evidence to this. Let us stop all these beer parlour theories please. My prayer is that when Obi or Jonathan return to power, you guys should advise him to dredge south south seaport further so we dont have to continue to have this conversation.

Beating at their game, how? Because he managed to stay under their radar for 20 years? And in which time he's been unable to work legally, travel freely in and out of the UK, own property etc...social media isn't real life.

After 15 years, you will have the right to vote (and to be voted for, at least on paper).
It is when you attempt to contest to be the councillor of the village where you have lived for 15+ years. That’s when you will know if you are a citizen of Nigeria or an Indigene of Nigeria.
Lol

15 years wait to become a second-class citizen... undecided
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29:
Starmer may be an atheist, but he really should consider getting a spiritual advisor if he doesn't already have one.

For it's not normal to be facing this level of opposition (including within his own party) just 1 year after a landslide victory and with a huge commons majority. Even ardent supporters are now questioning his political ability and whether he will last the full term. Worse yet, the King of the North is allegedly marshalling his troops in readiness for a leadership challenge at some point.

Starmer may have been a victim of unforced errors with Rayner and others, but this Mandelson affair is different and very damaging because it directly points to a lack of judgment or character (or both).

Mandelson might be a brilliant strategist but it is well known how shady he was/is, and so why he wasn't vetted more rigorously, and why the PM stood up in PMQs to profess full confidence in him - even AFTER Mandelson himself had warned publicly that there were more sordid details to be revealed in his Epstein relationship...🤦
And Trump is paying us a visit this week, so the Mandelson questions and headlines are not going away anytime soon.

My guess is that Starmer will survive this furore but he is seriously wounded.

The ironic thing about this Kemi episode is that in the coming years she’ll be a (maybe “THE”) textbook example of a Glass Cliff scenario, despite all her protestations about her identity and its role or lack thereof in her career.

In fact, I’m going to periodically check this Wiki page about the Glass Cliff to see when she gets added to the examples: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_cliff
