Title: Canada Study Visa Refused Again – Please I Need Advice

Body:
Hello Nairaland family,

I applied for a Canada study permit for Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at St. Clair College, but my visa was denied. This is not my first refusal — in fact, I have had:
• 1 denial for USA student visa
• 1 denial for USA visiting visa
• 1 denial for Canada visiting visa
• And now, this denial for Canada student visa

The officer’s reasons in my last refusal letter were mainly:
• Limited funds in my own name (I relied mostly on a sponsor abroad)
• Weak ties to Nigeria (not enough proof I would return)
• My background is Accounting + Sales/Teaching, so the shift to PSW wasn’t fully convincing

• Completed caregiver training
• Planning to get a job (most likely in Sales/Manager role) and at the same time do part-time caregiving work
• Planning to either set up a small business/shop or get land as a home tie
• Thinking of deferring my admission to September 2026 to have enough time to prepare a stronger file

My questions:
1. Should I continue with PSW or switch to a related course like Healthcare Administration?
2. If I combine Sales job + Caregiver work, will that strengthen my case?
3. Is it better to wait for Sept 2026 intake to build ties, or try again earlier?
4. For those who have succeeded after multiple refusals, what did you do differently?

Please, I really need honest advice so I don’t waste money applying wrongly again.

Thank you all.

It's so damn frustrating but no hope is lost.
Dust up and apply for a schengen country like Hungary. There are plenty of master courses in English.
It doesn't matter if you wish to change your degree. And you get 2 years permit to move around the whole of 28 schengen countries.
It gives you room to think about your next move.
Do your research and get stipendum or Misp so the tution will be waved.
Stop wasting your precious years trying to fit in where there is Cap already tightened.
I wish you good luck cos the denial means you need to bring a different story about your life stages entirely.

[Thank you so much]

Not guru. Submit the below for your brother to the Proof of Funds section.

1. Sponsor letter of support
2. Affidavit of Support
3. Bank Accounts showing your tution balance, living expenses, and more to show your brother can fully cover your cost without breaking himself financially.
4. Letter of employment or reference letter from employer and payslips
5. Birth certificates (your brother and yourself) to show you have the same parents.
6. Tution deposit receipt
7. Applicant bank account showing previous support or transfer from sponsor.

Note that IRCC brought up a rule about full tuition payment recently. It might be best for your brother to do this and just mention he will provide your living expenses from his Savings and income.

Note that 8 months is a bad idea as it will normally give you 1 year work permit or less. Right now, some people have not gotten their PR and their 3 years work permit is almost ending. Both provincial nomination and express entry invitation are very hard to get these days due to high point requirements. Be prepared to probably do an additional 8 month or 1 year program to get 3 years work permit to give you a shot at PR after study if that is what you require.

All the best.[/quote]

Cap is hitting colleges and universities businesses hard, imagine conestoga main campus only received 540 new study permit from IRCC in January to june 2025.
The federal government approved just 540 new international study permits for the Kitchener-based community college between January and June, according to new data released to The Record. That's down from 17,600 new study permits approved in the same months in 2023.

Conestoga College is a very greedy school. Imagine—the president of Conestoga College, John Tibbits, was paid $636,102 in 2024. That’s more than the Prime Minister of Canada earns.

It’s no longer about education; it has become a big, greedy business. Schools in Canada only pay 5% in taxes to the government—imagine how much the board of directors makes.

Yet, despite all this money, the schools haven’t invested in improving facilities or equipment. Campuses have become overcrowded to the point where some universities and colleges are outsourcing education to third-party institutions. This gave rise to “strip mall colleges,” packed with international students, especially from India.

Honestly, I’m glad about the new cap, because the madness had to stop.

No job market could keep up with the overwhelming number of students entering the country, while someone was profiting without improving the quality or standard of education that once existed

its sad because it affects the genue real students that want just better opportunity coming from Nigeria.

but the cap is here to stay even the liberal party knows they cant increase the number like the madness we had from 2019 to 2023 which my brother badadvisor was part of the late Covid windrush students Most have permits about to expired with no PR in sight sad very sad

You are applying for a study permit, not permanent residence, so a police certificate is not required—unless you have a criminal record in Nigeria or in any country where you have lived.

Hello everyone.
Please I've been trying to book my biometrics online with VFS. As a new user it keeps saying error after signing up. What could be the problem because I did exactly as required?

medical exams are for everyone (you and all dependants), but biometrics are only for applicants 14–79 years old

IMO when applying for visa with Dependant Just make sure you have the POF and Income to move to Canada with your dependants

Good evening house, please I’d like to confirm if this will work:

I’ll be given a fixed deposit certificate showing that i have been running a fixed deposit (stanbic ibtc mutual investment fund), and that I am now liquidating it. Afterwards, the funds will be transferred to my personal account (Access bank) about one week before I submit my Study Permit application.

Whatelse do I need to do to solidify the process...Or what can I do at this point...I'm applying for study permit for Winter 2026.

Secondly, if after one year program in Canada and I decide to do another program, will I still show POF for the new program?

Please, someone should answer me🙏🙏
