Heavy Shooting Near Seplat Facility: Oton Youths Attack Webster Global Workers in Ugbekoko




Heavy gunfire erupted close to the Seplat facility in Ugbekoko, as Oton Youths (Urhobo) reportedly attacked workers of Webster Global Ventures on their way to Abigborodo community. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers destroyed a Hilux van and engaged in a fierce shootout with mobile personnel attached to the company.

In the background of the footage, you can hear repeated shouts of “Asawana”, signaling a combined force of Urhobo and Ijaw youths, who have allegedly been carrying out attacks in Ugbekoko and Abigborodo communities.

This incident raises fresh concerns about rising tensions in the Niger Delta region, as local communities, oil workers, and security personnel remain on edge.

I get it that these companies tend to have their HQs in Lagos because of how the South South can be volatile at times.

But bringing Badagry boys into this doesn't make any sense. The oil companies are not drilling the oil in Badagry. It's not their environment they're spilling. So y would dey have issues with the companies?

And who taught these boys these rascality? Their elders, Dangote originally wanted to site the refinery in Rivers state but had to change his mind due to onerous demands.

The people in the region are so greedy , selfish and short sighted.

The oil companies HQ were already at Lagos decades before resource control agitation and youth militancy started.

When the major oil companies artived in the 50's and 60's they simply set up thier HQ in Lagos, the political and financial hub of the country. That's where the top echelon of the company prefer to operate from for easy access to power brokers, infrastructure and amenities for their families.

Have you visited any of these communities, the level of poverty is visible to the blind. You can even stay there, cuz even from your moniker I don’t think you can sleep comfortably there.
