there is nothing like the south south .. edo and delta state are in country of Nigeria different from east South. So pdp was wrong to label them south south. Someone from edo and delta state does not need permit to travel to ibadan. But someone from south east need permission. That why goodluck jonathan to a neutral ground accra to hold his meet. Abuja and lagos are neutral ground nigeria dont need permit.

Geopolitical zones are presented in the descriptive form:
Midwest(middle region closer to the east)
Mideast( middle region closer to the west)

If an eastern region is more east than the other, you use the descriptive form "extreme"
Extreme-east.

A country can adopt a name depending on politics, administrative, cultural etc.

Nigeria hasn't made any mistake by chosing south south as geo political zone

It is educationally pernicious that you asked me if I went through decent school and still end up saying South south is tautology.

There is no universally accepted naming rules when it comes to geo-political zone.

South south, North north, south of delta, Northern midwest, isle of south. They are all correct and however a country likes, they can name theirs.
It is never tautology because it is just for administrative, cultural and social purpose and not bound by any rule.
It's like a dialect for a particular people, nobody can come tell you that ur dialect is not correct, that's a fibble minded fellow
