No Igbo king is allow in Yoruba land but see this one thriving in Enugu, social media is exposing them every day
Were you aware of his existence until now?

This man has been modestly keeping very low profile that's why he's able to get away with it. He didn't go around annoyingly announcing his presence and telling the indigenous people there's nothing they can do , that he's going to take over their lands and biz. That's the difference here. Maybe Ibo can learn from him and do things in moderation wherever they go . whether it's Ghana, SA or SW

An Interview with Oba Alhaji Abdulazeez Adebayo Olateju, The Oba Yoruba in Enugu,
Who settled in Enugu 46 years ago, in 1979

Excerpts:
Interviewer: Where are you from, sir?
Oba: I am from Ede, in Osun State.

Interviewer: You speak Igbo so fluently. Where did you learn it from?
Oba (responding in Igbo): I learned the language here in Enugu. God gave me the gift of understanding languages and the ear to hear. Many people often wonder if I was born or schooled here, but that’s not the case. I was already an adult, fully grown when I relocated to Enugu from Osun. I even voted during the era of Jim Nwobodo and later for Shehu Shagari.

Interviewer: I also learned you speak Hausa. Did you learn it here too?
Oba (replying in Hausa): Yes, I speak and understand Hausa fluently but I have never lived in the North. I picked it up here in Enugu, just by listening to people around me.

Oba: Everywhere I go in Igboland, people take me as one of their own. My grandmother who once tried to discourage me from settling here in Igboland but before she passed in 2012 was very happy and always thanking God for leading me to Igboland. I kept bringing all my relatives here and today they are all doing well because Igboland is good to us.
The Yoruba's hate against ndi Igbo is the more reason why igbos will always be ahead along side with progressive Yorubas like this Oba Yoruba of Enugu, et al. We welcome and respect traditional institutions of every tribe and accomodate sincerely without noise. Govt in Lagos has arrested an Igbo man because he iclaims to be eze ndi Igbo na Lagos. Shame on tribal bigots.

If this post upsets you, it likely says more about you than about the message. The whole point of my post is simple: we shouldn’t give room or attention to tribal bigotry. There’s no reason to be offended by that. Unless there’s something you’re not saying out loud.
It is just self preservation. It applies to all groups. All groups want to preserve themselves and they want people to respect their boundaries.

Take a deep breath and rest! I am Yoruba but most of my friends are Igbos, my wife is Igbo and I I trust them, we all have personal and different experiences. But talking generally and about the majority it is not always like that. The two tribes don't trust each other period! Stop talking as if Igbos are different or stands out among the two tribes.
From my own experience, the few Yoruba friends I’ve met have earned my full trust. If you and your circle can’t trust one another, that’s on you, and it says a lot about your character, not your tribe.

That’s why I believe attention should never be given to bigotry. Tribal bigotry, whether aimed at Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa, is a mindset for losers.

Apart from Igbos, which other tribe in yoruba land complains of discrimination?
Apart from the Igbos, which other tribe makes up the largest population after the indigenes? In almost every state in Nigeria, the Igbos are always the dominant non-indigenous group.

The main point is you'll never hear a Yoruba disrespect his host or called their land "no man's land" or claim to be the one that "developed" it. Yorubas integrate and respects their hosts. They're grateful to the land of their host for whatever riches they are able to get there, not claiming to be better or denigrating their hosts.
You only boast based on your contribution to the development of the land. If you refused to invest in real estate in a land , you can't say you are a stake holder in that land. I hope you gerrit?

That is not true. In my village of Ere Ijesa in Osun Hausa arrr more than ten times the Igbo population because they come for dry season farming. In Yoruba land generally unless there is a census you can't know who is more between Hausas and Igbos

All cities there there were census in Europe and North America Yoruba are always more than Igbos sometimes more than double. If Europe is like that and North America why not Northern Nigeria? Then it is a known fact that Yoruba outnumber Igbos in any Northern university both as staff and students. Your assumption is not correct

Meanwhile, this is another classical case of harmonial and humanitarian angle to ethnic friendship between the Yorubas and the great people of alaigbo.

This is a Yoruba Oba reigning supremely in alaigbo( having came there in his adulthood) with no ethno-religio-regional discrimination against him but imagine what has been happening in the opposite side.

I also remember a lots of Yoruba Profs in UNN (especially music/education/GST departments) and UNEC( business admin, college of medicine - Prof Bankole Olusina etc). The owner of one of the best school in Enugu is a Yoruba man.
Lolz @ reigning supreme. Do you even know what that means? This is just a fellow with a chieftancy title from whoever. He doesn't have any kingdom.
You'll notice him gently minding his own business. He's at most a rep or leader of his tribe association. Every place has association. He clearly says he's from Ede, Osun state. He also mentioned going back home. He freely speaks and respects the language of the place where he is domiciled. He's not challenging authorities and culture there, or forcefully asking for governance and inclusion.

Kings are approved by government all over the country. See case of new Ibadan king with the governor of Oyo, Ganduje with Emir of Kano saga. You don't just arrogate title and positions to yourself, follow due process.
Is he properly coronated according to law? Is he using the right title? That your friends or street call you Ooni or Eze doesn't mean you go bragging around that you are King of Lagos or President of Nigeria.

Association of victimhood pretenders trying to console themselves. Yes you lot are tolerant, valiant, accommodating and never discriminate.

It is other who are bad and are the problem always. The rest of Nigeria plus Ghanaians, South Africans etal are simply 'misinformed'.

The thread below should jog memories to show what you lot are yet now trying to pretend to be something else over the example of a single Yoruba in Igbo land.

Oya Fergie, Dominique or any Igbo mod on duty kindly take out this post so no Yoruba can respond while your brothers can continue pretending to be holier than thou while demonizing Yorubas.

It is actually fake news. The man is a fraud parading himself as Oba.

He is oba of which kingdom in Enugu?

Someone posted this video on X, and he collected wotowoto.

He can called himself Oba just as anyone else but he is not recognized in yoruba land. We do not have any crown oba outside our region. If the Igbos decided to allow him to claim what he is not then that's their problem.

Yoruba tradition is clear. To be an oba you must come from a royal family and must be recognized by the government. So that man in this video is just having fun over there.

No one recognized him in yoruba circle of Kings. What is right to the Igbos culture might be wrong to the yorubas or other region in Africa. You can't come to yoruba land and claim to be a king.

So if you are posting this video so that we can allow you to be a king in our land, just know that you are a joker. Our kingship is not a joke to us. if it is to you then keep crowning any yoruba man you see in south east as your Eze.

My dear, every state government in Nigeria regulates recognition, instruments of office and government interaction with its traditional heads. A king must be recognized by the state government, not just by his friends and street or association members.

Amen. It has become increasingly clear to many of us that important decisions regarding our collective future have already been made. As a people, we are now more focused, intentional, and unified in protecting our interests and values.

While we have historically extended a hand of friendship and openness to others, we've come to realize that it's time to reassess certain approaches — particularly those where our goodwill may have been misunderstood or taken for granted. This reflection has led us to adopt a more strategic mindset moving forward.

We believe in peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all ethnic groups, but we also acknowledge the need to safeguard our heritage and territory. In light of current realities, new policies have been carefully crafted to ensure this — though their full implementation is being approached with caution and wisdom, especially given the current national leadership.

This is not about hostility, but about clarity, boundaries, and protecting the dignity of our people. The future will speak for itself.

Precisely. That's why I said earlier they are trying to use one individual to claim credential they have never merited or exemplified as a people.

Even in the whole SE, how many Yorubas are permanently domiciled there? 400k max being generous?

Yet how many Igbos in the SW thriving, buying properties, running successful businesses etc unimpeded? At least 8 million.

Which sane person, from any nation of the world at all, will you put these facts before and they will agree Yorubas are the "unaccomodating tribalist", as Igbos are desperate to claim, because of the anecdotal testimony of one individual.

Are they not the same ethnic group where an Igbo elder proudly proclaimed they do not sell land to outsiders meaning they want no equitable assimilation of non-Igbos in the SE?

A joke thread to be honest but I am not surprised considering it is about the champions of victimhood and hypocrisy.

If you do not trust your friends, do not blame it on tribes, take full responsibility by questioning your own character as a person.
