| After One Year In South African Without anything to show , Decided To Return by Mrkc(op): 5:15pm On Sep 29, 2025 |
After over one year in SA without anything to show for it, I have finally decided to come back to Nigeria. With no job, house or anything tangible to fall back to but i am just determined to start all over again because i believe no matter how far you have gone on the wrong part it is never too late to start again. In my late thirties, no qualifications, no family, no flourishing or tangible business but determined to learn anything that can at least substain me. |

Mrkc:One year is too short a time to achieve anything tangible except you are into illegal business. You lacked patience to study and learn the ropes, you cannot make anything tangible in life,in a hurry . Even in America and European countries you have to spend some years in the dark, you will eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel,it's natural even back home in Nigeria |

Mrkc:What are you coming back to in Nigeria though? You claim you have nothing to show for the over one year abroad, but what are you heading back to Nigeria to find? ![]() What do you have back in Nigeria that is waiting to give you the success you could not find back in South Africa?🥱🥱 |

As you are relocating back to the country, the starting all over would be better in a new place not somewhere people used to know you |

Haibo!!! So you expect him to have stayed in SA and be our problem? Next thing he'd have resorted to selling white powder for survival and when we speak, you guys were immediately gonna jump into conclusions by singing your favorite song. We also have our own issues, so if you can't find yourself a legit employment in SA, take you belongings and the little dignity you have left and go back home because there's no place like home. As for you op, don't mind this person, you did the right thing. Kobojunkie: |

Atleast you tried, you can still try more. What you need is to work with sense and less struggle. If you are working with sense, 1 year is a very short period to achieve anything reasonable. But if you are working with struggle then you can achieve alot under 1 year. I'll suggest you reevaluate your reasons of coming back. Stay there and try to forge ahead. There is a reason why you were able to raise enough funds for the flight over to South Africa in the first place. |

1 year and U run back. Are U a quitter? So what should people who were born in SA , over 40 and living there all their lives do? What should Nigerians who have been there hustling for 5yrs do? Just 1 yr and U run. I know SA is difficult and very unfriendly but there are still some opportunities there that if u are hardworking, creative and patient, U will achieve Well, since U have run, all the best o |

Celestialsword:There's nothing in South Africa. That's why is back. Unemployment there is sky high, and crime rate is high. In addition, xenophobia is real. Black South Africans are showing up at workplaces and demand that all migrant workers must leave, to make way for jobless locals. Many Nigerians turn to crime to ether sustain themselves or to thrive. |

Mrkc:Welcome back my guy Now that your eye has now cleared, you probably realus3 that there is gold in Nigeria. A business you can start in Lagos is estate agency. All you need is a blackboard to write a list of properties. Network with agents in your area to get properties to advertise. Make a registration form for your clients to fill. You can charge 5k. Some charge them 15k. That registration fee can give you feeding money. Tell them that with the money you will show them at least 3 properties. Find a strategic place to place the board. Liase with a shop, or office. Many will let you put it there for free in front of their bisiness. Who ever is interested will call your number and you go and meet them. You don't need to be in the shop. The blackboard is simply a means to contact you. You will learn on the Job. |

Samantha125:So many Nigerians are ignorant. When migrants don't find jobs, they turn to crime. The claim by South Africans that may migrants are into crime I'd true. Hundreds of Nigerians came back about 2-3 years back. 2 of them were involved in armed robbery after they returned. These two did not rob together. So, two separate incidents. This never happened with returnees from Libya or anywhere else. South Africa needs to do something about the high unemployment rate. The reason why SA has a very high unemployment rate is due to rigid labour laws. This discourages job creation. The laws are more suited for big companies than for smaller ones. Sadly for you guys, the unions who drew up these laws want to keep it that way. Please Google "What are rigid labor laws?" |

RealityKings1:There is nothing in Sputh Africa! Nothing! It should be a warning to you but you prefer to chastise him. There are no jobs. There's sky high unemployment. Their economy is barely growing more than 2%. Do you want him to turn to crime like many Nigerians there? |

OracleJay411:There are no jobs. The jobs he is bound to get will be shitty jobs, and Black South Africa's are now going about demanding co.panirs sack their migrant labour and replace them with locals. The alternative is that he turns to crime. That's what many Nigerians there do, |

YoungBTCxchange:She said the truth. There are no jobs in SA. Unemployment is as bad as Nigerias if not worse. Many Nigerians there turn to crime.e to survive. It's a gangsters paradise. |

Quiter... Only one year you quit and ran away with your tail between your legs. How long do you think it takes people to relocate and settle fully in a new country? Or you had the impression the place was eldorado and immediately you get there you would start making money by picking diamonds on the street in 2 weeks time? You have nothing to fall back to in Nigeria so you still come and start from another scratch again? Anyway, you never even had a plan in the first place. That's why you keep moving from place to place... living from scratch to scratch! |

grandstar:Unemployment in SA Is nothing close to what you have in Nigeria, not by even a mile! ![]() 2. You mean as opposed to the millions of Nigerians in Nigeria who are fully and openly into crime as a whole sector of the economy?🥱🥱 |

| Re: After One Year In South African Without anything to show , Decided To Return by Samantha125(f): 7:45am On Sep 30, 2025 |
Let me get this straight, so SA needs to do something with the high unemployment rate in order to accommodate your people? Why not instead tell your own government to do something with the corruption, tribalism, and religious bigotries that are happening there? Isn't that the reason why many of your people are running away from Nigeria? And since Libya and other countries have far more conducive environments that SA, then maybe you should start making it your duty to advise your people to migrate to those countries instead of SA. You can't be holding us accountable for your own country's failures, you're not our responsibility. grandstar: |

Samantha125:I have never been a fan of emigrating to South Africa, or endorsing it to others. Though I have partial for emigration to advanced nations, I believe strongly in developing ones home country. You guys have your own problems, and lots of economic migrants can be an extra burden. The 4 biggest challenges you have which are high unemployment, very high crime rates, power blackouts, massive budget deficits, corruption, and very sluggish economic growth are enough problems on their own. The mismanagement of the Nigerian economy under Buhari wrecked the economy over 8 years, and the brutal but necessary reforms under the present government is bringing it back to life. The question here is- what is the South African government to revive your economy? Nothing! You guys shouldn't have the high unemployment rates you have. You guys have rigid labor laws that discourage hiring. That is the reason you guys have suffered from this very serious problem for way too long. If its fixed, unemployment could drop from 33% to about half that in 4 years, and further halved again in 8 years time. If your labors laws make it expensive or difficult to hire or fire workers, it discourages hiring. The rigid labors laws also deter investors. This further compounds the employment. |

Then do us a favour and keep focusing on reforming your country so that your people could stop coming to a country with the highest unemployment and crime rate. You don't see us coming to Nigeria to complain with our issues, do you? We'll deal with them our own way and for a country that has been under libration since 1960, you guys sure are still in shambles. It's funny how you're blaming us for the deeds of your two blockheads when your villages get massacred all the time in your country, is that also our fault?🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️ grandstar: |

Samantha125:I am an economics pundit. I write about other countries as well. Does that mean I want to travel there? So, if I pinpoint problems in the Burundian economy, rated as the poorest in the world, does that mean I want Nigerians to go there? Or what of a Norwagian writes about the SA economy, does he want to emigrate there or to urge his countrymen to? You've been dealing with your economy the same way for the past 31 years and see where it has left you? Unless drastic economic reforms are carried out in SA, in 20 years time, the South African economy will have collapsed. |
