In fact, some people have turned Yahoo into Family Business. You'll find 2 or 3 siblings ALL actively engaging in Yahoo.

Many of them, with the BLESSINGS and encouragement of their parents.

Some business models exist SOLELY because of Yahoo Boys.

And the macro-economic IMPACTS of these thieving RASCALS is debilitating!

House rents are through the roof in areas that have ZERO business with expensive house rents.

Prices of some very SPECIFIC cars have ballooned beyond reason because they've become the defacto cars of Yahoo Boys.

In fact, successful young men with legitimate means of income CANNOT drive those cars without being branded as an UNDERCOVER Yahoo Boy.

Some people blame POVERTY.
Others blame the exponential DECADENCE of the Nigeria society that GLORIFIES fraud to the point of social PRESTIGE.

But the Nigerian Courts should take MAJORITY of the blame!

EFCC would conduct a STING and arrest Yahoo boys in number of 10s and 20s.

And Nigerian Courts will SET THEM FREE with just a fine as LOW as #100,000.

Nigerian Courts allow CRIMINALS to destroy the reputation of the entire population for less than $70.

This is MADNESS!

EFCC seems to be arresting them EVERYDAY. Yet they seem to INCREASE in number every day.

Now, we know why.

That's the kind of decayed society which we've found ourselves in......The worst of it all is that churches now even eulogize and sing their praises....... Don't even talk about the parents,at least we've seen parents who bought phones for their kids and even handed them over to HK bosses to teach them work, according to how they call it ... If as a young man,you ain't doing Yahoo,and if it happens to be the type who's hustling legit, people will never have respect for you.........I saw first hand pepper in the hands of Yahoo boys during my time as a Keke rider...

Yes Nigerian judicial system is corrupt so they will free them same way they always free your corrupt polithiefcians who steals billions to fund their lifestyle,

Is it the judges to be blamed? .... or the laws need to be amended? The judges follow the laws ... the sentencing guidelines .... X amount of years imprisonment or an option of X fine. The laws need to be upgraded ... as in mandatory 3 years imprisonment plus a fine plus confiscation of of whatever assets ...and restitution if a victim is identified.

There are level of punishment for every crime, did you want the judge to sentences them to death.

Criminal politicians stealing public funds is the major problem, most yahoo boys don't target Nigerians. Public funds is the people's money, that is your interest, focus on your interest.

Let's approach things with facts. Nigeria has never been easy that's why people look for several means to get ahead.
Before the era of yahoo, people dealt in hard drugs. Some are of those people are still members of the society today.

Nobody will wakeup and think the next thing they want to do is entertain old people and chatting them. Because old people are always the target.
For a fact, younger people despise chatting with old people. That explains why your younger brother and sisters will mute you from their WhatsApp and Instagram.

People engage in yahooo are a product of frustration and a less promising society. Look around you, there is so much lack of reasonable opportunities. People will always strive to get the best out of life. Younger people aren't happy with the lives their parents and people around in are stucked on

So since they aren't happy with what the obvious future is presenting, it's normal to consider other root since drug pushing is out of it.
Moreover some crimes aren't only Nigerian. It's a world wide thing.

Go and price the cost of Cars, it will be very hard for a Civil Servant to buy a car of 25 million or even 15 million without engaging in shade things.
My point is, the currency naira is very hard to earn, save and invest.

Even those who designed the government and coordinate the economy knows well enough you as a Citizen is not meant to be rich unless you are breaking some rules.

Let the government tackle the terrible economy and improve social welfare, yahooo will die a natural death.

You did not identify the real problem.

These boys get light sentences in court because the EFCC gives them plea bargains with light sentences.

EFCC is unable to secure convictions through normal trials in many cases so they resort to pushing the boys for lenient plea bargains.

EFCC go for this because they can count the convictions as evidence of their working and put that in their statistics, while the boys go for the plea bargain because it leaves them off the hook in no time. In some cases the jail time is even offset from the time they were in detention prior to sentencing.

The laws need to be changed to regulate the minimum sentence that can be arranged through plea bargains.

First, the report did not state the charges brought against them.

Secondly, do you not see the losses they have made that is 5m, car, phones plus some prison time, disgrace and shame because of the trial.

The place where the wrong is now is that it is wrong for the king (Fg) to confiscate the items. The proper thing is for them to be returned to the persons stolen from. And if it is enough to compensate the victim, then more should be given him.

And if it is not enough to compensate the victim, then the court should levy damages on the yahoo boy to pay both the victim and fg for spending resources to catch him because he committed this crime.

With this the yahoo boy will be paying for a long time to pay for his crime.

That is where the just is.

It does not feel right to me. Criminal sentence should carry some element of deterrence for future crimes.

Giving a fraudster 6 months sentence and counting it from when he was arrested is not deterrent enough. That is why after the sentence they still return to the crime that they were prosecuted for.

Why must you look for every opportunity to drag and lie against the church? Which serious church have you seen eulogize and sing the praises of criminals? Is it Oyedepo of LFC, or Enenche of Dunamis, or Kumuyi of Deeper Life or Pst Chris of Christ Embassy or Adeboye of Redeemed? In fact , respectable churches with sound doctrine are too numerous to mention, but your mischief and hate for the church wouldn't allow you be reasonable.

This is where you see that we have 2 Criminal Law systems.

One is God's Criminal Law aka Natural just is which the criminals insalted calling it jungle justice because it is full of hot punishments and deterrence and just is.

And the second one, th present criminal law system imposed by these same criminals, which allows crimes and does not fully punish it. Rather they are even using it to in rich themselves, hence the corruption.

And in this one, one of its flaws is that they decide what they charge you with. Which means if they charge with a law that says you get punished for 6 months, then 6 months it is. End of story.
