If Your Father Died And Your Cousins Did This, What Does It Mean? by Toruibestate(op): 5:49pm On Oct 04, 2025*

My father died at 63 years, his elder brother of same father, same mother is 73 years.
The elder brother has been sick for two years and right now the sickness has gotten worse then my father that wasn't sick died on September 5 after two months of illness.

My cousins really tried during my father's death but they told i and my siblings not to tell their father of his only remaining brother's death and since they believe his present mind won't be able to handle it, being on sick bed himself, he may die if he finds out.

But is it right for him not to know?
He will think his brother refuse to come check up on him though he was told of the illness of my father and his reply was let him not die o...
What do you think of all these?

Your cousins are right. Keep the communication channel active. Tell him that your father said that the moment he recovers he would come over and see him. Your family cannot afford to lose those two brothers at the same time.

Simply tell him that his brother was rushed to Abuja or Lagos and will come home once he gets better..

Keep that very far from your uncle,cuz if he should mistakenly get to know about his brother's demise,that may probably be his end...... So your cousins know better...

I understand why they're doing this. It is a cultural thing. 73 years means he's mentally active still. Is there someone close to your uncle's age that can be talking to him? Keep him company?

The man has every right to know about his brothers passing. This is a man who survived LIFE for 70+ years. What if the sickness kills him anyway and he dies without knowing the truth about his brother?
