Other stuffs that are absent here worked for Japan and other Asian & Middle East/Arab countries to become success stories. These countries have histories that predates colonisation or having encounter with Europeans.
The foundation for Japan transformation was started by Emperor Meiji. The Meiji restoration period laid the foundation for other Emperors to build on.
Developed countries were shaped by dictators except USA,that at initial stage only stake holders were allowed to vote or be voted for.
No man alive is capable of changing Nigeria,except he implements an home grown type of government. Alternatively, the solution is for the 36 states to go their separate ways and each create a model of government that suits their environment

I see no sense in this post. It's like asking who should fix broken vehicles? Mechanics or Automobile Engineers, when their roles are clearly defined. Auto mobile Engineers design and manufacture vehicles while auto mechanics are responsible for repairs.

Same fashion, technocrats are not trained for politicking. Career politicians are. A good and sincere politician will appoint a tested and trusted technocrat to carry out specific functions towards achieving a set goal.

You may be amazed to know that Ngozi Okonjo may not do well as a President, but we all know she does excellently well as a technocrat.

Leave politics for politicians and leave innovation, creativity and excellence for technocrats.

Your concern should be "are the politicians we are electing into power honest and do they have good intentions for us?".

In my village, if you are not a tout, even councilorship form, you will not see. Going to school should not make you too polished. If you can deal with rif-rafs once in a while to consolidate power,it's allowed, of late, miscreants don't bother improving themselves, when it's time for election, they'll depend on majority rule. An Okada/motor park chairman can be your next governor based on this arrangement. As long as regions are not challenged enough to bring out their best, this unity we deceive ourselves everyday is just one massive fraud scheme.
