The only reason these guys hate igbos is because igbos call them out for being conniving & betrayal nature. They are like little finger causing strife between people so they can take over. They were choking edo people when benin was under SW untill benin people ginger to have their own mid-western region. They have been claiming beni people to be lesser yorubas and even now they say warri is a yoruba kingdom. Go to the oil companies in nigerdelta they are everywhere eventhough not a drop of oil is in their region. |

PlayerMeji:the way you guys can twist things needs to be introduced in every Nigerian universities, iyaloja is alien to the benin culture and traditions just like eze di igbo is alien to Yoruba culture,is the president position a Yoruba culture ? A benin person can become the president on Nigeria tomorrow can a benin woman become iyaloja of Lagos or Ibadan? |

MaziObinnaokija:Let what slide? If obedient people were the people doing this, will you allow it to slide? Continue, since all you came to this world to do is to slave for another man. You will be tired of this slavery one day. 🥱🥱🥱 |

cyberbro:so after the oba made a comment that you consider offensive( which by the way is not totally untrue) did he install any official or chief to oversee any affair or issue in Lagos? |

Why are they asking stupid questions? Didn't they welcome her with open arms and legs? Wait till she dethrones you. They never learn, this is what you get when you allow touts govern you. Edo carry last last for this matter by allowing oloriburuku to appoint market leader. |

IbnB:Have you actually followed the news from its inception. The Oba told her point blank, right there in the palace. |
| Re: Benin Palace Questions Motive Of Iyaloja Role In Edo Markets by SeeWahala: 4:39am On Oct 09, 2025 |
Mitsurugi:Exactly 💯 and she went ahead to defy the oba by actually going ahead to install an iyaloja against the benign peoples wishes imagine, same people screaming RESPECT YOUR HOSTS at peaceful igbos and embracing Fulani/aboki that use daggers to kpai their own people in their own lands oh |
| Re: Benin Palace Questions Motive Of Iyaloja Role In Edo Markets by IbnB: 5:05am On Oct 09, 2025 |
Mitsurugi:He didn't he hid behind his chiefs That's why she still went ahead and had the so-called Iyeki-general installed |

Lithiumite:Why would Tinubu's daughter come to Benin to install an Iyaloja? Did you also read in the statement where it asked: Can a Benin woman be made an Iyaloja in Lagos? Can Tinubu’s daughter, who claims to be the Iyaloja of Lagos or Nigeria, also go to Kano, Zamfara, Borno, Aba, and other places to install her own Iyaloja? |
| Re: Benin Palace Questions Motive Of Iyaloja Role In Edo Markets by skuribeebo: 6:11am On Oct 09, 2025 |
But oba of Benin didn't sign this letter now . He can easily exonerate himself when they come for him .😀😀😀😀 |

Nigeria is a free country where people can form associations. Iyaloja is an association Benin palace is not in a position to tell Nigerians not to form associations in Nigeria |

PlayerMeji:The word is not excuse. The word resistance. The palace has every right to resist any move that is not only alien to their culture, but also undermines their reverred authority. |

Until the criminal-general of Lagos State and his family acquire the whole country, they won't rest o. |

stuffs2002:Do you know the genesis of the term Iyaloja? It is not a social or trade association title. There's a distinction between chairperson of a market association and the traditional place title of Iyaloja. The name and practice itself is alien to the bini culture. The resistance came from the same market women who had someone imposed on them not by election, but by cherry hand picking. Each market has her iyeki who superintends over the traders in that market, distinct from others. It's not centralized in one person. The palace only reaffirmed the position of market women |

Prenonjebose:You're just being clever by half. Edo state is not Benin. It's unintelligent to confuse Iyaloja of Edo state with Iyaloja of Benin. The other parts of Edo state have markets and they are not subservient to Benin or their Oba. Please stop disrespecing them. Besides, Bini Oba came to Lagos with a twisted and revised history that is disrespectful and forbidden in Yoruba culture but today he's being reminded of his place, that Benin is small and even a microcosm of Edo state let alone disrespect the Yoruba. The Yoruba will not talk because a tiger doesn't shout its tigritude ![]() Iyaloja of Edo state has come to stay. If Benin are not ready, the rest of Edo state is. Ishans are ready, Etsako is ready, Akoko Edo is ready, the rest of Edo state has accepted the Iyaloja of Edo state. The press release from the Benin subgroup of Edo state, if true, is noted and that is it. Nothing more. I congratulate the New Iyaloja of Edo state. DeepSight:Smh. You will explain and explain but the truth remains. It will not change that by ranking, he is behind some Kings in Southern Nigeria. And it's not politics but deeply entrenched in history ![]() It will help you to know those ahead of you. Benin is not even Edo state yet you want to use politics to forcefully elevate Benin and its Oba over the other Obas in Edo state. That's the reminder staring you in the face that Benin should not confuse Edo with Benin and their Oba is not Oba of Edo state. Congratulations to Iyaloja of Edo state.

DeepSight:How is he the most important king in southern Nigeria? Benin man rest abeg! Is Ooni a Catholic priest or is the Alaafin a nun? |
| Re: Benin Palace Questions Motive Of Iyaloja Role In Edo Markets by stuffs2002: 8:04am On Oct 09, 2025 |
Prenonjebose:This is hardly an argument. Maybe you should read the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on freedom of associations. |

Iyaloja is for politics to get numbers for APC...APC are very evil, because of their selfish politics, they want to cause violence in a peaceful state, your Iyaloja will never materialise in Edo state, you people have failed, you only built resentment for yourselves. Evil APC |

Kukutente23:I am not from Benin. The Ooni and Alaafin are both important. There is deep history there. The Ooni is more like a priest. The Alaafin is the real King of Oyo empire. Both of these have ancient connections to Benin. |
