giselle237:Yes, he's the skilled worker and not the dependant. And no, we won't obtain fake documents... The boy's mother actually supports that he joins his father, and I know she'll readily do all that is required. |

LCMedia:It should help if you do explain it, your own transfers etc. I learned the hard way. I had been traveling to the UK since I was born, spent time in the UK. Then got refused when I went for a renewal a long time ago after having my first born who is now in their late teens. I was in shock because I was overly confident being that I am also a frequent traveler. My first shock was when I was told I had obtained BC fraudulently because it was stamped but the silly person forgot to date it. Meanwhile I had used same BC for my kid to travel to Schengen states several times without any issues. After that , I learned to never leave anything to chance. I’d break down my financial statements for them even including a spreadsheet. I reference all my OWN transfers. I recently renewed my long term visa and treated it as though it was a new application again. As they always state, every application is treated in its own merit. God help you your application doesn’t fall into the hands of ECO who will cross every I and dot every T’s , so that’s why i always treat it like it’s my first time. Schengen is more lenient with a lot things. |

Hebunn:Support is not enough. She will have to relinquish her rights and then you go through the courts. Not fair though but who am I. Anyways without sole custody and sole responsibility court order granted by the courts to the father and other proofs attached, this visa will not be granted. The longer the more they will say he can stay with the other parent or other family in Nigeria. |

Emerald138:If she's being sponsored fully by someone, you shouldn't write that figure in the space of 'how much are you personally going to spend'. There's a space for what the sponsor will contribute. It's not about being housewife or employed. It's about the bank account matching what you filled. Credits are seen as salary or allowance(additional regular income). And debits are seen as expenses. |

LCMedia:Seems like this is your emotion getting the better part of you which is a normal reaction especially if you are traveling for genuine reasons. The best thing British does is explain why you are refused and it’s for anyone to look at that refusal and on that basis respond accordingly when reapplying. If I were you, I’d address it immediately and have a strong yet very polite letter responding to the reasons for refusal and addressing all the concerns and better tidied up documentation. You don’t want to get to Portugal and an opportunity comes up and you wish you had the UK visa. In 2017 I was going to Disneyland with my family the logical thing to do was apply through French embassy and we got refused. I had never ever since Schengen union been refused so I was livid as you know their own refusal is generic, it could mean anything except in the case they state you have a travel insurance issue . I was lucky enough to live close to the embassy so I drove down and got the embassy email address, I emailed them a few times and then came a call from the embassy and it was from the consul general, they asked if we had been recently refused a visa from German embassy( this was my first time ever applying from anywhere else outside of German embassy so for them it was strange and they assumed I was coming to them) I responded by saying no, I was asked to send a new itinerary by email and a week later we were asked to bring in our passport to the embassy and collect that same day. I never ever take no for an answer, I may be in my emotions but I never let it get to me. When you are in some of those 28 states you’ve mentioned then you’d realize the uk is just an hour away, 2 hours away etc. I guess my point is your travel is genuine then you should 'fight' it |

Manlikechims:Thank you so much for your contribution. I have already sent a complaint through the official complaints procedure on the GOV.UK website. Is there any other way I can fight it? I’d appreciate it. Thank you. |

Good morning house. Is there anyone that has tried to book an appointment this week? Do you know if there’s any availability in Ikeja VFS, please? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Manlikechims: 10:53am On Oct 25, 2025 |
LCMedia:You’re most welcome. In my own opinion, i think you should reapply. Administrative procedures I hear can take as long as a year or even more. You have all the reasons you were denied, you can on that basis touch each one after the other. It will also be helpful to attach your Nigerian bank statement also outlining most of the transfers are to self. In your cover note, if your overhead is more than earnings then you can state your earnings is pegged at the X amount due to accounting purpose. I am an entrepreneur and my overhead is always mostly more than my stated income. |

jmoore:Thanks. If I want to reapply, should I remove that and not add any details about employment because I thought I could use it to show ties? |

Emerald138:Let me give you my experience: When I applied for my mum what i filled in that she is a home maker/house wife. I also filled in that her monthly income is the "Stipend" that I give her monthly which was just N150,000. I added some 3 month lemfi transfer reciepts to the application too to show proof of this and my mums bank statement shows proof of this too. I then sent her equivalent of £1,500 into her NGN bank acount using LEMFi and add in my invitation letter that the money is for her (a) ticket and (b) travel stipends and stated that I will be covering her food, travelling around when she get here (I also included my UK current account statement). Most times, if you say your parent is a trader and they don't have company bank accounts with sufficient funds, it's best to go down the route of you are the one giving them salary on a monthly basis route. But thats my experience sha. |

Hello everyone, Please is £1500 enough for a five day visit to the UK. I have £8000 in savings and earn 1.5m monthly. My monthly expenditure is 400,000. In my first application I was refused because I spent more than by stated monthly expenditure in July, but I explained it was a one off payment and non reoccurring debit in my cover letter, I paid 650k for my annual rent and 500k for my hotel booking trip to Ghana, but the VO called it a discrepancy and singled out those two dates from my bank statement. Now, I want to submit my statement from August to October which does not have any discrepancy. It still hurts me because that's the only reason my application was refused despite all the many evidence I supplied. By my calculation the £1500 converted to naira is less than 2 months of my disposable income. So I need your advice: So that I won't submit a new application after addressing the reason for denial and what has changed in my circumstances, and THEN they will pick another reason for refusal in this new application. I will appreciate your responses, gurus and expert. My savings comes from my rental property, investments and my beauty business brands and I intend to resubmit all the other documents I used in my first attempt, aside from my updated bank statement without any high one off debit. My concern is , I don't want to reapply now , and they will find another reason.so I need our advice, is £1500 okay for a five day trip? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by edmasta01: 1:52pm On Oct 30, 2025 |
Ayobami227:I will suggest that you itemise a table showing exactly how you will spend the money in your cover letter. Something similar to the below: Category Estimated Cost Notes Accommodation £600 Budget hotel/hostel or shared Airbnb (~£60–£90/night) Local Transport £120 Oyster card / contactless (Zones 1–3) Food & Groceries £300 Mix of groceries + affordable restaurants (~£30/day) Attractions & Activities £200 Museums are free; paid attractions ~£20–£40 each Shopping/Souvenirs £150 Stratford Westfield/Primark/Gift shops SIM Card & Misc. £30 Giffgaff/EE SIM, toiletries, small expenses Emergency/Contingency £100 Unexpected costs TOTAL £1,500 Stays within budget Then you can print out proof of those costings in advance and add to your application. e.g. You can go on the transport for london website top print out how much it cost for day travel card, you can print out what sim card you will get, you can print ojut pages of the attractions you will visit etc. Add them to your application. It shows you know what you intend to do when you get there. |

Ayobami227:I have to be blunt with you. Post the refusal. You are not qualified and would continue to be refused no matter how many times you go until your circumstances GENUINELY change. In the space of 6 months your salary has changed so many many times from 60k to a whopping 1.5million naira with no clear paper trail. All of a sudden, various sources of income and wealth have surfaced. These folks are not as stupid as we think. It is sad that with each passing day, you try to concoct a profile that doesn’t exist. Things have changed with Uk visa applications. Please understand what’s going on here. |
