Joy0041:So sorry about that. Why not approach the ones who do very well for advice? And do you go through past questions before your incourses? |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Joy0041: 1:29pm On Sep 20, 2025 |
No I don't go through past questions |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Joy0041: 1:30pm On Sep 20, 2025 |
Do you think I can still pass MB exam if I perform well CA score is added to main MB |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by dunsin125: 5:23pm On Sep 20, 2025 |
Joy0041:Hey Joy, how are you doing? Writing well is relative, you might think you wrote well but from the lecturer's perspective, that's not what he/she wants. Like someone mentioned, meet those who did well and ask them how they answered and yes, you can still pass your main but you'd need to put in a lot of effort into your mock and main. |

Is it possible for someone to transfer to other university I just entered 300 level medicine |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Renalman: 6:40pm On Sep 22, 2025 |
Joy0041:Yes Depends on the university though. Unfortunately, only a handful of federal universities offer inter-university transfer. Even worse, the acceptance fee is usually a minimum of 2.5 million for MBBS, and might be more for state and private unis. Another downside of inter-university transfer is that you'd have to start preclinicals all over i.e from 200lvl. |

lomaxx:Hey doc, hope you are doing well ? This message of yours is over a decade ago but I wonder how relevant is some of the insights today. The thing is my younger brother is a mbbs aspirant, he marginally fell short this year, with a Utme score of 342 & a Post utme score of 70 he was about 1 mark off Ui cutoff Mark. He is going to go again next year, now we are deliberating targeting Unilag or Lasu then. I don't know how much you know about both schools but any valuable advice on which to pick will be appreciated. my parents want him to target Lasu cause of higher chance of entry because he is a Lagos State indigene & no post utme conducted all he just has to do is focus on acing his Utme which I have zero doubts he will, but I want him to target Unilag because I feel the opportunities/platform there is superior particularly because of the trend of how their students are always matching in Usmle/plab pathway to Us/UK for foreign practice. Even post graduate studies too. I am also aware of how much of a common practice it is to take electives in US, & how much of a culture it is there that people even match while still being students. I don't know much about Lasucom but is the standard similar to comul in regards to this ? Or which of the two will you advice on pursuing ? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Sulele04:I heard that LASU medicine is through high connection because there are various interests. Unilag admission process into Medicine is fairly straight forward. Unilag aggregate is calculated as UTME(50%) + O/LEVEL(20%) + PUTME(30%). So before JAMB, the aspirant can already know his/her O/Level calculation and then know what to aim for in JAMB and PUTME. Unilag cut-off this year for Medicine was high but being from Lagos is an added advantage for your brother because Lagos is under Unilag catchment. |

NL1960:Yh I am aware of all these, we have high level connects in Lasu more reasons my folks want him to go there. I am aware of Unilag catchment score for Lagos students too, I am just worried if Lasucom matches the standard of cmul for grad opportunities. That's all |

TONYE001:what advice would you give a person starting medical school at 30(he already has a bsc). Is it feasible employment wise? Be plain. I believe there are age disadvantages in terms of placement, employment etc. What disadvantages is to be expected if there is any. Nice dairy by the way |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Jackanda1(m): 9:46am On Nov 20, 2025 |
lomaxx:most pass questions are not repeated. So you made a wise choice. |
| Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by TONYE001(m): 11:02am On Nov 20, 2025 |
Jackanda1:1. Yes, employment wise, career wise, it's very feasible to start at 30. If everything goes well, it takes less than 10 years to be a consultant. We have a lot of people that become consultants in their 40s. 2. Age disadvantages in terms of age? Not when you're employed in your late thirties or early 40s. I have some friends that go into government work within this age bracket. 3. Disadvantages? Generally speaking, there may not be any obvious disadvantages here... especially if the past years were used productively. |

Jackanda1:It's less about the questions and more about how they are asked |

Good evening medics in the house.. I'd sit for 2026 UTME, seeking MBBS I'm considering UNILAG, OAU or UI But then, I want to find out the one with the fastest academic calendar of the three, stability is a big deal for me, that's why I asked here so as to make an informed decision... I already know I have to score 330+ to be on the safer side... |

My chiefs, good day I'm here soliciting for help. Just entered 200L and I'm really lost on books to buy, some of my senior co's said the most popular was chaurasia and last for anatomy, Keith Moore is needed for just introductions(basically the first 70 pages). I'll really like a run down of books(and practical manuals) to buy and any other advice will be really appreciated, thanks. |

, is USCE( US Clinical Experience). I highly suggest that anyone that wants to do residency in the US must do his/her final year electives in the United States. This is the only chance you can get to have direct-contact with patients...and not mere observerships. Those folks prefer folks with USCE over those with observerships or worse still- those without. There are some hospitals that don't require USMLE before you do your electives. You can always know them.
