Just a quick question, should Dangote departs the world today, what will happen to the refinery? The government will takeover or his family members will continue with it
some of u are so uneducated 🤣. See question. The refinery belongs to Dangote Group, a registered conglomerate (business) a legal entity on its own. If dangote is no more, Dangote Group continue managing it under the leadership of any of his family member. Why would government takes over someone's business upon his demise? 🤣 chai! Ignorance

If you don't want the monopoly, go and build an oil refinery and compete with Dangote. Last I checked, Nigeria operates a free market economy.

You people should stop this nonsense Nigerian mentality of always using emotions and parochial sentiments to stifle societal growth huh!

Go and build refinery....Sell all your assets you've been making money through subsidy for ages ....Find needful and start your refinery...
The same problem they had with ibeto ...He kept crying to the public but he and Dangote were both giving a span of 10 yrs through the backward integration project to revert to local manufacturing as against importing and bagging cement ...Ibeto never listen he kept on importing and bagging there in in Portharcourt till the time elapse and a ban was place on importation claiming victim as usual they always do ...
People should be careful who always try to make others look bad in attempt to cover up their lapses ....
You can't stir sentiments from the public despite profiting from the system that create the problem in the first place as soon as that comforts is taking u cry fowl..
Let's keep praying for more Dangote in Agriculture, Health, Technology, Manufacturing, Aerospace engineering, Media and many other sectors waiting for a Leader to pull it from the ground to a global player of Businesses right from Nigeria ...
This is possible

So you think it’s Dangote, as an individual, is managing all these?

He surely employed an intelligent manager controlling all these. So, to answer you, business will continue. There may only be issues when the top management are no longer having access to the government for certain favours

Man Raises Alarm After Spotting Hundreds of Dangote Tankers, Sparks Monopoly Fears

A Nigerian man has raised concerns after recording hundreds of Dangote fuel tankers lined up on a highway. He claimed that the billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, might be planning to dominate Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

According to reports, the new fleet of trucks owned by the Dangote Group runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Each truck is designed to transport refined fuel products such as petrol and diesel directly from the Dangote Refinery to filling stations across the country.

The company reportedly plans to deploy about 4,000 CNG-powered tankers in total. These trucks are not only fuel-efficient but also help reduce logistics costs when compared to diesel-powered vehicles.

This move, however, has stirred controversy among independent fuel marketers. Many believe it gives Dangote an unfair advantage that could lead to a monopoly in the petroleum distribution sector. Despite the criticism, Dangote Group insists that the decision is purely strategic and aimed at improving efficiency and cutting costs.

By handling its own logistics, Dangote is seeking to distribute fuel products directly — bypassing independent marketers who traditionally dominate the supply chain. This new system, which is expected to fully take off by August 2025, represents a major shift in Nigeria’s fuel distribution model.

With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is the largest in Africa and one of the biggest single-train refineries in the world. Its massive production scale has raised fears that it could control a significant share of the local market and influence fuel prices nationwide.

Industry groups such as the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have warned that the move might cripple smaller marketers and cause job losses. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has also clashed with the company over labor-related issues.

In response, Aliko Dangote has dismissed claims of monopoly, urging other investors to build their own refineries instead of “using the cry of monopoly to stall growth.”

The company also explained that its decision to invest in CNG-powered trucks and manage its own fuel distribution is a response to market challenges, including boycotts and what it described as “unfair competition” from fuel importation cartels.

Dangote further noted that over 30 refinery licenses have been issued to private companies in Nigeria — including BUA, Aradel, and Waltersmith — showing that the market remains open for competition.

He emphasized that the Dangote Refinery has transformed Nigeria into a net exporter of refined products, improving energy security and reducing dependence on imported fuels.

To promote transparency and broader ownership, Dangote also announced plans to list the refinery on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), allowing ordinary Nigerians to invest and own shares in the company.

To be honest, I detect a bit of admiration of what Dangote is doing business wise in this video. He also points out the huge work opportunity present for trained drivers at Dangote, which I both agree with. And if cost that NNPC would collect woto woto. I think Dangote is doing great and should continue to help force society to progress!

However, that doesn't mean practical issues like freely occupying federal and state highways should be applauded and not stridently condemned, for herein lies the elephant hiding in plain sight: the free and uncompensated utilization of public infrastructure to the detriment of other citizens by his trucks, such as down in this video.

This free accommodation that isn't granted to every business and citizen, is worth billions to the Dangote group as free, politically protected income.

casualobserver:
Nigerians are not used to businesses operating at scale and efficiency. we are used to imported tokunboh rickety trucks, with bald tyres and the tank welded by local welders.

This is what happens when a man investS $20B in a business. I can bet you each of those brand new smart looking dangote trucks costs less or the same as the ricketty tokunboh fuel tankers. Thats barganing power of scale at work. when you are buying 10,000 trucks, the manufacturer can even sell to you at cost or even a loss knowing he will make his money on service parts.
meanwhile you are buying tokunboh, the foreign dealer wants to make 20%, the nigerian dealer wants to make 30%. you will then fabricate the tank in Nigeria at more than the cost of a factory tank fabrication in china. Dangote will replace the trucks after 5 years and sell to you the one man retailer at the same price he paid for it new.

Nigerians think they are businessmen because in Nigeria no matter how inefficient you are you add 100% to your cost and somebody will buy, Nigerians dont understand business, everybody wants to be the owner of an inefficient small scale business.
Succinctly stated.

Well, that is one perspective, however, I will like the general public to pay attention to the safety/environmental impact on public infrastructure. Let me just focus on one.
The bridge where those trucks were parked were not designed for stagnant weight, instead for moving weight. Prolonged and continuous parking on bridges can/may compromise the integrity of such public infrastructure. I hope all concerned authorities will take note of this.
