The Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed as fake news a viral social media report alleging the construction of an illegal private airport in the Argungu Forest by a retired Customs officer for the purpose of smuggling cocaine and other hard drugs into Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the police described the report as baseless, misleading, and malicious, aimed at discrediting the image of the state and undermining the professionalism and dedication of security operatives.

Police Describe Report as Fake and Dangerous

The statement condemned the false publication, noting that it was a deliberate attempt to cause fear and confusion among residents while emboldening criminal elements seeking to disrupt public peace.

“The Command categorically refutes this publication. It is a fabricated story designed to tarnish the reputation of Kebbi State, the Nigeria Police Force, and our gallant officers who are daily working to ensure peace and safety,” Abubakar stated.

He emphasized that the Command remains resolute in its duty to protect lives and property, safeguard peace, and prevent Kebbi State from becoming a haven for criminals or illicit activities.

Public Urged to Disregard False Information

The Kebbi Police Command appealed to members of the public to disregard the false narrative and resist the spread of unverified news capable of undermining security efforts.

“We caution individuals who engage in spreading falsehood to desist, as such acts have serious implications for individuals and society at large,” the statement warned.

According to The Bureau News, the police also assured residents that the Command will continue to work with genuine media professionals and credible institutions to combat misinformation, enlighten the public, and maintain the state’s reputation as one of the most peaceful in the Northwest.

Commitment to Professional Policing

CSP Abubakar reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability in law enforcement, urging the public to report suspicious activities through official communication channels rather than relying on unverified social media posts.

The statement concluded by calling on journalists and social media users to verify all security-related information before publication, noting that spreading fake news threatens the collective effort to sustain peace and stability in Kebbi State.

But why construct an airport in a forest?

If you can justify the above question then, would you be advising FG to consider constructing one at zambisa forest?

There is nothing like constructing an illegal airport in a forest.

It's most likely just an airstrip being constructed in a forest and that is more than enough to smuggle drugs.

Go and use Google Earth and you will find a secret runway in the forest in Kogi being run by a northern kingpin who is known for snuggling...so I will not be surprise they have more of these secret runways

Denials like this often indicates a thing - The so-called rumours is 90 percent likely to be true.

Kebbi, among other surrounding states are in a region known for banditry, kidnappings and worst of all, illegal mining and smuggling of drugs, weapons, gold and lithium.

The so-called airstrip might serve an important purpose of being used to smuggle drugs, weapons and valuable minerals like gold and lithium.

Believe the police at your own peril

The police rebuttal dont seem strong to me,to convince Nigerians that nothing of such is happening, journalists should be taken to Arugungu in Kebbi, down to the said forest and prove to Nigerians that nothing is being built there and if any, reason and why such is being built. This is to clear all doubts, especially now that Nigeria is bedeviled with all sorts of insecurity.

An airport in a forest? That's just peachy. Let's just assume it's an airstrip and leave the cocaine smuggling to the experts, shall we?

JESUSPOWERREVOL:
It involves taking the Gospel to remote areas and difficult terrains, sometimes having to cross water sometimes where it hardly or never reached before. For instance, there's this place where one had to dig sand to get water. Most of them (pagans) had never had the Gospel before so got to hear it for the first time and some got saved. It also helps when they're given food stuffs and other items they need, as that help to draws their attention making it easier to preach the Gospel to them.
