Gift Monday's Tribute to Her Late Father

"Losing my father, Mr. Effiom Monday Akpan, has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Even though I knew that one day this moment would come, nothing truly prepares you for the silence that follows when a man who has always been your source of strength discipline, and encouragement is no longer there.

Mv dad was more than iust a father -- he was mv foundation. His sacrifices, his hard work, and his quiet wisdom shaped the person I have become today. Every value he instilled in me, humility, resilience, honesty, and faith in God - has guided me not only in life but also in my football career.

I will forever remember his prayers before every tournament, his reassuring voice on difficult days, and the pride in his eyes each time I wore the green and white jersey of Nigeria. Those memories are treasures I will carry forever

His burial todav reminded me once again of how much he meant to evervone, familv, friends, and the entire communitv. Seeing the love and respect people had for him filled me with both sorrow and gratitude.

Daddy, your legacy lives in me and in every life you touched. Though I'll miss you deeply, I find comfort knowing you are resting peacefuly in God's hands. Thank you for everything you taught me and for believing in me even before the world did.

Rest on, my hero. I will keep making you proud on and off the field.

At the last WAFCON the coach brought back Francisca Ordega to play the left wing instead of Monday Gift and since then he has been using other players on the left instead of Monday Gift.
